Before I first heard this at 6 years old, I was shown how to properly take an album out of the jacket, how to clean it, how to handle it, how to place it on the turntable, how to set the correct speed, how to stack records, and most importantly, how to drop the needle on the edge and find the groove.. This was the record played.

Sounds good, except I've read that you shouldn't stack records.

@@adam872 It's weird you've not paid attention to the bass line on what's essentially a disco song. It's in the barebone of it. It's true it doesn't follow the typical disco bassline pattern as much as in "Last Train To London". There's where you have the most disco-ist bassline in ELO'S history (In my opinion, at least).

Lengthy, but maybe can relate and worth the chuckle! The album and this song in particular reminds me of my sophomore/junior year in H.S., a girl I once dated and one particular summer evening where she bailed on me thanks to her overbearing mom! Here goes! I wasn't about to let that get me down though, so after having picked up my party buddy instead, and some 'smoke', we went cruising to the MusicLand Record store at the local mall. Since I had been working all day installing a brand new Alpine cassette deck, 100 watt equalizer to pump sound through some 6x9 Jensen speakers, I was stoked to purchase some new music to jam to. As my friend and I were shopping, the ELO artwork on the cassette cover caught my eye and although I really hadn't heard of these guys, although later I found out they had been around for a while, I decided to make the purchase anyways and be on our way. I thought the perfect place to try out the new audio system was out on my neighbor's farm away from civilization, and of course to get baked and for me to cry in my beer :( LOL. I was still fired up over being ditched and wanted to make my presence and displeasure known, so I eventually decided for us to make an unwelcomed visit to my girlfriend and her mom, who turned out to be an absolute b***h by scheming to keep us apart from the jumpstart! I couldn't shake drowning in my sorrow and in my beer and that's what led me to the decision to be 'heard'... literally and LOUD!!!. It was a little after midnight when we finally arrived at our destination. Upon pulling up to the residence, we proceeded to crank the windows down (very old car, obviously) and gradually turn up the volume up to near maximum as we crept by my gf's house. Haha! About that time... every damn light in the house lit up, so I punched the V-8 and sped away laughing our asses off... that is... until we saw a car coming towards us, which we thought for sure had to be a cop, but no!, it was worse!!! It was her dad, who was coming home from working the nightshift. Oh shit, I thought! Per our phone conservation the following day, I learned that her father assumed I had just left their residence after visting. LMAO! Obviously, he was clueless and I was BUSTED! It was also obvious that we were done as a couple because her mom told her she couldn't date me anymore :( Oh well, it worked out in the end!

Fun facts, this song was sampled for a club track played in an episode of How I Met Your Mother, the lyrics of which foreshadowed upcoming events in the story, though the lyrics weren't actually present in the episode. You had to be familiar with the song prior to the episode to understand the clue. HIMYM loved foreshadowing its plot points like that.
