Lennon was asked what the Beatles would sound like if they hadn't broken up, he said just listen to ELO

Except maybe for I Am the Walrus and Strawberry Fields Forever (ELO's first albums was basically based on those two songs according to Lynne).

I honestly don’t know anyone that dislikes ELO, they may not be big fans, but if a band can reach this level of acceptance then they should be prouder than proud. This particular tune is almost pop perfection, simple can be used as a negative , but Jeff Lynne has made it into an art form.

ELO I just like to Rock out to after all these years. They bring back so many memories of the past. As I said before there is so much from the past that it makes me miss growing up in the 70's. I am just grateful to have the memories. Thank you so much for the memories.

Yes, Jeff Lynne had his hands all over all ELO songs; songwriter, singer, player of many instruments, producing, you name it. If he wanted to write a pop song, he wrote a pop song! There are so many more for you to hear of theirs and I'm here for all of them. For something different and much later try Long Black Road if you're craving a little more drums. Turn To Stone was Jeff's favorite to play, Can't Get it Out of My Head is different still, and so good. Confusion, Starlight, Shangri-La, oh! Do Ya! So many ELO songs, so little time. :D

Jeff Lynne was the driving force behind ELO, he had the lead role in writing, producing, and singing, and he arranged many aspects of the band's music. While ELO did feature many other talented musicians, his contributions to the sound and success of the group was crucial.

I saw ELO as an opening act with Savoy Brown back in the early 70s (72 or 73), and it was so different and unique that you knew they were gonna big in the music business. They had that specific something that you could feel in the music. Thanks for hitting ELO again; I always love your commentary and views on the music. I recommend that everyone always listen to you until the very end of the videos. You're so good at what you do - great job.

Jeff Lynne (who comes from my home City of Birmingham, UK) is a great singer and producer. E.L.O have loads of great songs and sound just as good live as they do on the studio versions. My favourite song of theirs is 'All Over The World' which is such a happy song. There are loads of videos on You Tube with flash mobs dancing to this song.

@MJ18 ай бұрын
ELO is wonderful. But they would have been so much greater if their heyday didn’t align with the emergence of disco. Imagine all these songs with more complex rhythms, being more integral to the overall sound. It’s hard to name an ELO song and point to a great “drummer moment”. It’s all great, but disco kills kids.
@windymiller69088 ай бұрын
Agree about the disco thing, at least as far as ELO is concerned. In my opinion they peaked on Face The Music and there are some good tracks on A New World Record, but after that....uh uh
@lauraallen558 ай бұрын
Disco kills kids?! Oh wow, never knew it killed children. :D
@Cosmo-Kramer8 ай бұрын
ELO made ONE disco song, "Last Train To London". If you wanna add to that short list, "Shine A Little Love", I'll give that to you, even though it really does not fit the disco definition. You're confusing disco with pop. Did ELO transition from rock w/strings to pop w/strings over the years, yeah. And did Jeff eventually ditch the strings in favor of synths? Yeah. But they were never a disco band, good grief. smh As for great drummer moments, clearly you've not listened to, "Fire On High", or, "Hall of The Mountain King".
@windymiller69088 ай бұрын
@@Cosmo-Kramer Shine a Little Love sounds very disco to me. Don't Bring Me Down is a contender too. The album title - DISCOvery very much implies Jeff Lynne's mode of thought with at least some of this album. That said, I do think the 'disco' thing is overstated and later albums were more pop than anything else. Me, I'm a fan of their earlier stuff as mentioned in my previous post. Along with Face The Music, which has a great blend of prog, pop and rock, I'm a big fan of the more proggy ELO 2 with it's heavy moog and raw overdubbed cellos.
@Cosmo-Kramer8 ай бұрын
@@windymiller6908 "Don't Bring Me Down", is straight Rock, there's nothing remotely disco about it. And I'm not being defensive about the song, it's my least favorite hit they ever made. But it ain't disco. As for the album title, you're mistaken, Jeff named the album, Discovery, and it wasn't until keyboardist Richard Tandy, who wasn't a big fan of the way the band was getting away from Rock, called it, "Disco-very", that it even occurred to Jeff. You're the only chick I've ever heard of who didn't prefer ELO's later, lighter sound.
