ELO is seriously legendary: Sweet Talkin' Woman, Mr. Blue Sky, Turn To Stone, Living Thing, Shine A Little Love, Telephone Line, Xanadu, Don't Bring Me Down. Those are the *minimum* songs you need to check out from them :)

Summer of 1973, I was 14. Saturday morning cartoons were ours (the kids) until Soul Train ended out the morning. Then it was chore time. American Bandstand came on before Soul Train (cartoons were essentially over). Dick Clark introduced a 'new' band, Electric Light Orchestra from England. They played Roll Over Beethoven and Showdown. After hearing Showdown I felt like I'd just seen the new Beatles. It was so different (hadn't heard The Moody Blues yet). They were in a league of their own. Many awesome memories with these guys. ;-)

Had a cousin come stay with us one summer, early 70's. He was about 17 y.o. He'd just bought Days of Future Passed and played it all summer. Think I was about 12. When he was at work, I'd sneak into his room and play it for hours. Same summer, same cousin took me to see my first concert in Denver for my 12th birthday. The Jackson 5! Music was great back then. ;)

ELO (short for Electric Light Orchestra) was HUGE in the 70's, with MANY hit songs. This song came out in 1977 when I was 10. Reminds me of the skating rink. YES, white guys were sporting afro's in those days. Long hair on guys was very popular then and if you had really curly hair and were white, this is what your hair would look like...some may have gotten perms because of it's popularity in those days, but some, it's all natural.

I think this was made in 1976. It was a song/album that my older brother had, and I was heavily influenced by his interests at the time. I stayed with him on his air force base for a spell, and the album art was what first interested me; kind of a mix of the old Wurlitzer jukeboxes, and futuristic space flight. Listening to the entire album was what made me love the music. It was eclectic, briskly paced, and the harmonies soothed and energized. After that, I looked for anything associated with E.L.O. especially a movie Xanadu (a story-light musical dance movie from 1980) which highlighted mostly E.L.O. music. It might be of importance to note that the primary member of E.L.O. was Jeff Lynne, who was associated with Tom Petty (and the Heartbreakers), and George Harrison (The Beatles) and eventually they combined (with other noteworthy musicians) to form the musical group, The Traveling Wilbury's.

Anything by ELO takes me back to the days of dating my boyfriend in the 1979. We got married in 1984. Been together 40 years...Many good memories of ELO songs. Makes me smile every time I hear their music, and the time just rolls back.

Jeff Lynne is a god of songwriting, producing, he was at the apex in the 1980s of his career. ELO still performs today, 2019. This group had the "IT" factor that provided a great sound with great lyrics.

Def in the 80’s... Lynn and ELO was one of the biggest acts in the world. Mix of pop, rock and classical. Prob their most longevity comes from Mr. Blue Sky, which has been in commercials and movies, and is just one heck of an uplifting, fun song. They are still touring, and still amazing.

This song, Or, Just ELO period reminds me when my wife and I just got married back in 1976, Jeff Lynn is the guy with the Afro, He still has one to this day, He just tamed it down in his old age, I got to see them live in concert around 1975/76, Outstanding!!

The 1970's had so many groups that were impeccable when it came to studio recording resulting in that smooth and full sound. ELO, Boston, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Earth Wind and Fire, Steve Miller Band, Chicago, The Who, etc. the musicianship was off the charts.

1977. One of my top three favorite albums. I moved to Florida, got my AA degree, met and married my wife, had children and life has only gotten better!

Mid 1970's. Electric Light Orchestra. They had a bunch of hits. When they were really jammin, they would switch out playing instruments in the middle of the song without skipping a beat. They were legend for their light shows as well.

I love this song because they are a great band, and they bring back great memories! I have a picture of my sisters before prom and her date is 6'4" and RED hair and sporting the biggest FRO you ever saw! In the 70's everything was about natural....hence natural hair, I even knew people that would perm their hair to have a fro.....70's was black power...everyone was digging it!

He's one of the Traveling Wilburys! Remember, you were all "Did these guys start out old?" They were all famous musicians, George Harrison of the Beatles, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and the leader of the Electric Light Orchestra, Jeff Lynne.

E.L.O. was a band that I remembered, when I was growing up. It takes me back hanging out with my cousin's over the summer vacations. Swimming, horseback riding and just handing around doing what kids would do over the summer vacation. Good memories. Then later on as i gotten older. My last summer with my cousin (may she rest in peace). Her and I took a challenge with each other who could name the song and the groups who sang them. Of course I won...lol. But I will always remember my time with her, not knowing that would've been my last summer with her.

My parents played ELO records a lot when I was growing up, so this brings back lots of memories. They have lots of good songs - I love Can’t Get It Out of My Head and also Mr. Blue Sky in addition to this one. Love this band!

Most guys had longer hair, mustaches, side burns or beards back in the seventies. Definitely a laid back time and the best music ever. ELO put out some fabulous tunes!!!
