Jeff always sets the mood of the album with a banger,he reels you in with these because he is the ultimate in producing the very best of albums, even Lennon and Mcartney said this group is the next Beatles.....We as ELO fans love his work and it's a rollercoaster ride of emotions throughout his career....Keep going there is loads of hidden gems on each album from these guys, 1970 - 1986.

Your analysis was dead on. Jeff Lynn was an amazing singer songwriter. What greater compliment can you give any artists than say " Their music took me on a journey , and made me feel. You should react to the incredible super band from the 90's that Jeff Lynn was a part of called " The Traveling Wilburys" I say Super band , and I am not joking . The members were George Harrison of the Beatles, Tom Petty,Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynn (ELO) and Bob Dylan.

Sublime, quintessential E.L.O. with more layers than an onion with more revealed with every listen. I've been an avid Jeff Lynne and E.L.O. appreciator since the early 70s. Its a rabbit hole that runs deep. "Tightrope" has arguably the best song intro ever and "Shangri-la" extended version off the same album has arguably the best song outro ever. Please give it a listen. Thank you for a marvellous reaction gents. 👍😊

The band's frontman Jeff Lynne regarded his own songwriting at this point to have reached a new high. "The songs started to flow and most of them came quickly to me. To have all those hits, it was just ...I mean amazing really. Going from doing okay for probably three or four years to suddenly being in the big time, it was a strange but great thing." - Jeff Lynne

At the time it felt like a brilliant album and a logical direction of his music until then. It was only when Out Of The Blue was released that we understood that A New World Record had "only" been a kind of pre-study for what was to follow.

I must say I took a special joy in watching your faces during the track's first minute, when you were each no doubt alternately thinking: "Whoa! What is this??!!", and, "Umm, this doesn't sound like "Don't Bring Me Down"", and, "What have we gotten ourselves into here???", and, "Damn, this sounds amazing!"...............and then that final look of awe turning into relief once the "Electric" part of "Electric Light Orchestra" started! As the one who recommended this song, I want to thank you fellas for making it happen, and I can't wait to see your reaction to it in just a few short hours! "Tightrope", is quintessential ELO, one of my 5 favorite tracks from their entire catalog! It's very different than the first ELO song you reacted to last New Year's Eve, "Don't Bring Me Down". That song, while a banger, lacked the string section (a light orchestra) that defined the band throughout most of its career. So in, "Tightrope", you're going to hear what the band was *really* all about. (By the way, gentlemen, my T-shirt that I won in your Livestream Trivia contest arrived, and it's terrific! I had answered, "Frankenstein", as the first song with a Sax you reacted to.) Thanks again, and Rock On!!!

Let's get on them in a couple months to do their 3rd ELO reaction! ps~My sponsored reaction for, "Can't Get It Out Of My Head", is up over at HarriBest Music Reactions. Unfortunately the studio version got blocked, so I had to give him a live performance. A lot of people were annoyed because the song sounds different without the full orchestra, and Jeff varied his vocal style in the performance compared to the album version. But some people thought it was great, and hey, ya can't please everyone. Lol

Thanks for suggesting this. I bought this album as an excited 13 year old when it was released. I'd heard two singles off it, Rockaria! and Telephone Line. But didn't know anything else. I got home and played it with my Dad listening. During that huge intro, my Dad said "it sounds like a Frankenstein film!" which is funny considering your comment about the t-shirt! And the reaction of the guys describing parts of the song as 'scary'!

I got to see Electric Light Orchestra open their live show with this song accompanied by a full orchestra three nights in a row at the Hollywood Bowl in 2016 and it sounded phenomenal! They were my first “favorite band” when I was 13 (“Telephone Line” was the first single I ever bought) so I’m very familiar with their catalog. Some recommendations for the next ELO song you feature: “Fire On High” (bewarned there’s a long spooky intro before the actual music starts) “Eldorado” “10538 Overture” “In Old England Town” “Dreaming Of 4000”

I agree, they are very likable and sincere. I was listening to a comment The other day that Ty made a comment that made me laugh, yet pause to think about what he said. I think it was the Al Stewart Time Passages reaction….he said “who has been hiding this song from me my whole life”? Well that’s pretty profound when you think about it. I had four sons and they are all about you guy’s age and they grew up in the 90s and early 2000s with nothing but my music! They still like it more than the music of their own generation and have such a deep appreciation for the music I exposed them too. But if you three didn’t have a dad who did the same for you, then I can see how you could grow up without ever hearing these great songs. Your Year Of The Cat reaction sucked me in to your channel and to the three of you individually. I would not have any respect for your opinions if you failed to recognize that song as one of the best song in recorded music history. It makes your opinion of anything else carry more weight!

Studio version, and pick the link that has a duration of 4minutes & 32seconds, and has a photo of the "Face The Music" album cover (an electric chair) as the thumbnail. I've said it many times before on various reaction sites but ELO is my second favourite group ever, just behind Supertramp. ELO had a great run through the 1970s and mid-80s but for me they hit their peak with the back-to-back LPs A New World Record and the double-album Out of the Blue. I listen to and love every song on both albums. My favourite ELO tune though is their early '70s cover of Chuck Berry's Roll Over Beethoven.

Im sooo excited because I’m seeing them in all places Milwaukee! Whoohoo! Im taking my youngest daughter because at 16 she looooves ELO - who would have thought? Anyway I’m very excited to see them live and the mastermind Jeff Lynne … oh to have that talent in another world - wouldn’t be great if we all could have that? Thanks for your reactions. Very insightful and you seem like a great threesome of mates …. Oh sorry that didn’t come out quite right 😳🤔. Anyway forgive me I’m Australian - possibly nothing comes out right 😮. Live in Canada and can’t wait to see them. Thanks for your reactions - love them 👍❤️

No Jeff Lynne's ELO doesn't have Tour dates yet for 2023. Perhaps you will see a tribute band.
