Hey Bill, You can definitely see the difference in the shorter nights. We had a fab time in Napton. The staff at the cafe were so lovely. It really has been fab travelling with Pete and Caroline. We will miss them when we part company in a couple of weeks. 😞. Love the bus cafe. Apparently they were advertising for a member of staff as the women who works with Debbie is leaving. 😞. The ABS fault was a detached sensor 🙄. Looking forward to getting back up North for winter. Defo need a catch up when back. Take care both of you. ❤

Loved the start with the music, tranquility, scenery and Dexter. Suppose you can have teething problems with anything new, it also means Liam is learning from these which is good for him. I'm always amazed how easy it is to pull a narrowboat --a bit harder to stop once you have given it some momentum. Makes me smile how each vlog includes coffee, cake, drinks, meals etc sometimes all in the same one. Conjours up your lovely life. Hi! If you are missing the sound of the diesel engine, for practical reasons or just effect. You can have the electric motor linked with a sound generator to give exactly that sound effect. "Top Gear" recently featured one of the "super electric cars" might have been an Italian one, and that had an exhaust tone that worked with the motor speed. I doubt it costs "too much" but it does have advantages and can be silenced when required. Nice video, nature is wonderful!! Take care. John

Gr8 vid as usual. It will be interesting to hear your views about an electric boat as time goes by. I can see advantages and disadvantages, the thing that I think about is that after a days cruise I have fully charged batteries and hot water, but e boats will have flat batteries and then have the generator running in the evening rather than be at peace after a days cruise. I would like to know how long the generator runs after say a 5hr cruise, and of course you then need to switch on the immersion heater for hot water and consume more elec. Diesel fumes hanging around the boat in the evening as the gen is running. Also solar panels being non tiltable am still not convinced about that. I am sure you will report in fair detail as time goes by, hope see you guys again, just rolled into Cambridge :)

Thanks Richard. Totally understand the advantages of full batteries whilst cruising and free hot water. We can generate enough solar to match the cruising sometimes so we get free propulsion. Other times we can get about 4 hours on 10% battery so never really completely flat after cruising. We have the immersion on an hour a day and don’t generally have to run the generator if there is sunshine. We never get diesel fumes in the boat after the generator runs. Solar panels ability to tilt do have advantages but I am not convinced that the efficiency is considerably more. Winter will be a different matter I guess. Great observations though Richard and we will see how it all goes. Have a good week ❤️

Happy Saturday! 🥰 I'm running late today so it's around midnight for you. I'm sure Dexter prefers the cooler days to the hot ones. It's better to not be hot! It's much better for running in a field. It's been very hot here. It's a miserable 94F this late in the day 🥵 but the house is cool. (The car was not!) That was pretty fast in getting the lock fixed so you could get through. The Cidery and Puddleduck look very nice. It's no wonder you like that area. So you are with Pete and Caroline for a while longer? That's nice since you can all look after each other. 🥰 The drawing of Grace is beautiful. Great job! Losing power is definitely worrying but anytime you have new technology things are going to happen. It was funny that you have to 'reboot' the motor. Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog, Loving the new type of opening, and noticed the different style of font too. Lovely to see Dexter walking in the field and enjoying himself. Beautiful choice of music for the opening scenes. Enjoyed Paul's introduction. What beautiful countryside you are in. Loving the way you were pulling the boat back into a new position, and even, at one point, driving your boat backwards. Anthony is a fantastic cook. Anthony looks after Paul so well. After Anthony had to go to work, your friends made sure Paul was fed also, which I thought was nice. You have some amazing friends. It was interesting listening to you all planning your route. I'm sorry that you have been having trouble with your engine cutting out. My first thought, it may be the heat that was affecting the electronics. Hope it's all OK now. Hoping Anthony's van is now OK too. It may just be me, and it's just an observation ( I like my observations), the feel of this weeks Vlog is different than normal. This week's fonts are very basic in the center of the screen and pretty large. That's not your normal style, you normally place your fonts (titles) left of center, or maybe you were using different editing software, and where you using a mixture of cameras for this Vlog, as it had a different look at the start of the Vlog? (I know, I am very sad!) Besides all my silly observations, I still really enjoyed this weeks very entertaining and well edited Vlog. I enjoyed the R/T 00:20:14 which is shorter than you often do, but I felt the Vlog worked better for being 20mins (maybe you were testing your loyal subjects to see if they would notice). Thank you. If you're cooking corn on the cob, wrap it in foil so it also creates it's own steam. Kindof bag it and make a tent out of the foil. Then cover in butter and cracked black pepper, mmmmmmmmmm!! The way Texans really do it is they leave the husk on and cook it on the grill that way.

I know why you can't stand it. We all grew up around the same time. Paul graduated Upholland High the year after me. In those days there was only sweetcorn in a can. That tasted bloody awful and should only be used for fish bait. When I moved initially to Texas in 1990 I was quickly introduced to corn on the cob that was either boiled and then covered in butter and black pepper, or cooked on the BBQ Grill with the husk still on. To be fair it is a totally different experience. I do like it now but won't eat it because of GMO's etc. That shit can give you cancer.

We have a lake house on a river in Louisville, KY, and we spend most of our weekends on out boat or on our dock swimming and fishing. It’s so hot here and the kids swim all day long.

We have lithium batteries, the same amount as you. We had issues with charging them. Well say issues the reading weren't correct. The victron guy spent days coming out trying to sort it. In the end it was a wiring loop issue. Now when we travel the batteries are fully charged within an hour or two. When we go to bed in the evening the batteries are down to about 60% but by 10am in the morning they're fully charged from solar. Because everything is reading right. Yours sounds like ours did. I'm guessing you have a smart shunt on your system. This was his reply to me about what he had to do. (Colin) victron The way I normally wire a boat as I did in yours is correct without a smart shunt, with a smart shunt all earths have to go after the shunt there were three wires that I wired normally before the shunt that’s why giving false reading, when I came I moved them to after the shunt and all worked as it should.

Brilliant. Thanks for that David. I will forward into Liam and see what he says. We are taking our readings directly from the individual batteries so may be something else. The Victron gives us a min and max battery reading. Glad you have got yours sorted. Liam is taking about linking each battery separately in a hope to get even charge and discharge 🤷‍♂️

" There was also an issue with the alternator not delivering the correct charge which was resolved by installing a sensing wire from the alternator to the domestic battery bank! He also said "If they're having problems with their system, tell him to drop me a message and I'll try to help". Let me know if you want me to get contact details to you guys.
