Can I use handbrake as an emergency action while driving? What car's behavior will be in that case?

Can this be switched automatically when stopped? I've switched from a Nissan qashqie to the jeep renegade . I got my car yesterday and my car has already crashed into my naighbours car twice any help is this break only manual

According to page 233 of your Owner's Manual: "You can engage the Electronic Park Break automatically by enabling the Auto Park Brake feature in the customer programmable features section of the Uconnect settings or in 'Safe Hold' conditions."
