Guthrie Govan is the real deal. The total package. Taste, feel, melodic, clean, inspired and the difficulty level will melt your brain. Holy chicken!

James Melton I think Jason Becker might have been greater had he not gotten ALS, but yeah, I agree. I don’t think Tosin Abasi is super far behind Guthrie though.

I love that Guthrie's playing shook him up from it's brilliance. The amount of brilliance and sheer dexterity and fluidity at that speed leaves you breathless. Also the bass is astonishing also.

My theory about why someone isn't necessarily getting the spotlight and recognition he/she deserves is because sometimes, just sometimes, he/she is too much for this world and what people can comprehend and appreciate. Guthrie belongs in special category, he can't be compared to anyone. He is unreal. He has EAR and he has 5/5 technical ability - he's like Joe Pass of shredding. Such a praise worthy person and a musician. Every time i see him or hear him, i feel honored just to witness this wonder.

dalibo sch - Very well said and I agree completely. Guthrie Govan is one of the wonders of the modern world!

True. I am late to the Guthrie party, but glad I made it. 🙌

A bit like the late Alan Holdsworth. He wasn't a rich man when he died, mere mortals couldn't possibly follow him and get what he was doing.

And let's remember he's not just a shredder. He can play in any style equally well.

Guthrie is a ridiculous guitarist, the shredding is amazing, but the feeling he puts into that shred is what makes it for me

many songs of his first and unique album yet was made at her teenagehood. One of the most famous are "Wonderful sliplery thing" that he won an contest when he was 16 y old. also, Some of the Aristocrats songs, one of that is "Bad Asteroid", are made around GG old songs/ideas

People always talk about his speed and technique and bla bla. yes it's true, but the world is replete with "weedley wee" guitar playing. Guthrie is so incredibly musical, less like an exhibition and more like a singer. This makes him a complete player and therefore a genuine Master.... with a capital M mind you!

You've probably gotten a million people ask you to react to The Aristocrats already. It's Guthrie on guitars, Marco Minneman on drums, and Tony Levin (I think) on "bass" (Chapman stick usually). Their live shows are something to behold. Just music, no singing.
