I live in a busy suburb of Houston, and I prefer riding my eBike. My truck stays parked in the driveway 99% of the time. On my bike I can bypass traffic, take short cuts through parking lots and shift over to sidewalks when I want / need to. I would rather get the exercise and get outdoors rather than drive a vehicle. Only thing that sucks are really cold days and rain.

In my town back in the 90's an elderly woman got plowed over by a guy on a skateboard on the sidewalk. They made a law the next year that nothing with wheels is allowed on any sidewalk in the village with the exception of wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility scooters. It's a $500 fine and it can't be contested. Worst part is the town has zero bike lanes on any road, so we are forced to ride in traffic whether we want to or not.

The Americans with Disabilities Act allows everyone who is disabled to choose their own form of Assisted Mobility Device to suit their own needs. I choose to ride an Electric Unicycle (EUC), which isn’t appropriate for sidewalks use until the rider develops an high degree of skill to ride as slowly as walking. So after a few years of practice, I can now ride on all streets, bike paths, walking trails, and sidewalks- safely and legally. The worst part is that some particularly authoritarian agencies, like Public Transport and Ferries don’t seem to know the laws so they tend to harass me until I clear it with their security services. I could barely walk 4 blocks for the past 20,years without pain but now I’m more mobile than anyone else who doesn’t ride a PEV or EUC. Not having to lock my bike up multiple times per trip… priceless. 😊

I live in North Vegas, no car… 2 scooters, the Hiboy S2 Pro (my first scooter) and the Emove Roadrunner V2…. And lovin’ it….. I’m thinking of upgrading/replacing the Hiboy soon….. and maybe adding an ebike to my EVs
