So on the govee lights, did you just take the housing off the control module so it would fit inside the board or is that new separate module? Can you show a little more detail on how you have it attached to the bottom of the board, like direction, position, if it makes a complete circle or just 2 strips, etc. Did you splice the LEDs?
@esk8nyc Жыл бұрын
Yes I took off the housing and wrapped with foam for cushioning. I didn’t splice the LEDs I just bent the strip at the corners where you would cut the light. I recently spliced the LED on my Atlas maybe I’ll make a future vid on that

@esk8nyc2 жыл бұрын
No I have not but there’s a more expensive version and it’s RGBIC called a Light Strip by the same brand
@StaticVolt2 жыл бұрын
I bought the same exact 12v battery pack to add lights to my electric board, after doing research I was able to find a tiny 3 inch X 1inch buck down converter that can fit inside my esc enclosure and ditched the battery pack, I used a xt60 splitter to hook up the wires and avoid voiding my warranty, then added a latching switch to turn it on/off. For the leds the vibrations destroyed mine every time and the adhesive sucked so I bought a rock led strip which were screwed on and had a hard plastic enclosure to prevent damage from impact.

I would do a buck converter as well but I don’t have any save in there anymore

Those are called shredlights it’s pretty popular for esk8ers so I figured not to mention not really an upgrade
@hyderjaved58952 жыл бұрын
@@esk8nyc ohh I figured, I knew about shred lights but always found them to be a little expensive. Before I even saw this video I had been researching coming up with a way to wire one those 18650 battery packs and a 12v mountain bike light or an off-road led light from eBay or something like that. I just haven’t found a way to get the amps and watts measurements right so everything doesn’t blow up 😂 but what do you think. Running another battery and some lights that way might give more light and the benefit of charging only the battery pack

love the video. Is striplight length suitable to board length. Do you need to cut a little?AND HOW sticky is it?
@esk8nyc2 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s suitable to any board length 2in1 and below and you can cut it to your preferred length. It’s actually really sticky but I recommend you wipe your board down with alcohol wipes and when you Apple the strip light use a hair dryer to make it sticker.

Hey bud. Any advice on mboard tires vs trampas? (ricky everet vid had them installed btw - i saw you comment on it :)). Trampas are $95 and mboards are $60. Just curious if you think premium is worth it. I'd say they wear out as quickly as the original Meepo tires and are a little less stable. Thanks!
@esk8nyc2 жыл бұрын
The Sunmate Tires are ok but I’m pretty sure they wear out quicker than the trampas. The trampa tires are well balanced and they will actually increase your top speed as well since it’s 6.5inch

@@esk8nyc Damn props! Second day on this thing, after trying out 30mph on the first day I got wobbles now I dont wanna go over 25 hahaha. Guess i should tighten the trucks a bit more and/or work on my riding cuz I'm not that heavy (155lb) so ig the bushings are okay. Any setup tips? Rn the front king pins show like 2 threads and the back ones 4. I do have the updated version that comes with 175mm wheels
@esk8nyc2 жыл бұрын
@@The_Dude_420 yeah man everyone says how the bushings are awful and to change them right away it’s all about practice you need to experienced to be able to ride DKP trucks must people don’t understand that. And for the tightening always have your rear truck tighter than the front because the power is all in the back with the motors. Make sure you tighten the two kingpins the same level either the front or back to get that nice carving. Lastly, I can’t really tell you how much to tighten them so start it off tight and if it’s too light loosen them all a quarter of a full rotation and see if you like it everyone has their personal choice of riding style 👍

I think a better route (cheaper, less "stuff", better waterproofing, less space taken up) would be to jettison the entire battery power and charging system (why have a tiny battery mounted inches from a HUGE battery with ample power) and just put a DC-DC buck step down converter, plugged into the XT60 battery connector with a parallel Y cable, that steps the battery voltage down to 12V, which you can use to power your 12V accessories, and tiny 12V-5V converter to further step down that 12V line to power all the USB devices. The entire thing could fit into the existing battery compartment, and be cheaper and easier to maintain as well.
@esk8nyc2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of that but the board is under warranty so don’t want to do any of that stuff. Plus it would drain my battery and give me less range. The maintenance is actually great don’t have to charge that little battery for weeks.
@ManifoldSky2 жыл бұрын
@@esk8nyc Adding a DC-DC buck converter won't affect your warranty. If you need to return the board for warranty service, you can just take it out. Your warranty is definitely effected by the grinding cable channels into the top cover, decreasing water resistance, and increasing the chances water damage to the electronics. LED lights and a horn will have a negligible effect on batter life. You might get a few dozen yards less range. You can see this in the miniscule draw on the tiny battery you are currently using.
@esk8nyc2 жыл бұрын
@@ManifoldSky warranty isn’t going to be affected with me making little slits into the cover just so the wires could breathe alittle. Imagine if your motors stopped functioning and customer support said “oh sorry we can’t send you replacements since you have little slits on your deck”…. Water resistance isn’t an issue electronics are accessed from the top unless I rode it in the rain which I have actually and when I opened up the cover there was no water inside the enclosure thanks to the foam. LED and horns don’t have that great of an impact but now I have wired in headlights that draw a lot of energy 4000lumens. Plus I could take out the battery if I wanted to, use it as a portable charger. And a buck converter wouldn’t most likely fit and it would be a waste of time. Please don’t forget this is a production board not a DIY.
