Always use a 12-pin plug (or Anderson plug) to provide power to your breakaway system and Hydraulic Brake pump. Pin-2 on the 7-pin plug is for Reverse Lamps. It is *not* for Auxiliary power on modern trailers and tow vehicles.

Lousy system in my opinion ... electric that actuates a hydraulic .... versus just a surge brake or just electric brakes ... seems way more complex than it needs to be

Unlike a caravan or box trailer, full eletric brakes on a boat trailer's braking system will not eventually end well, that's why the 12v hydraulic actuator is needer, which is fed power from you vehicle's 12v system (like a booster) to engage the brake caliper pistons when the pedal from the vehicle is pushed.. This keeps the 12v power supply out of the salt water when the trailer's axles are submerged during launch and retrieval. Hence the proper name of the system, Eletric over hydraulic 👍
