Hi, I am physics student and I have a problem with shear stress, I just wondered if my calculations were correct I have a 6.5cm piece of aluminium and I want to deform the end by 1cm (dx value) the crossectional area of the bar is 2.7x10^-5 m. According to my calculations using a shear modulus of 26Gpa the piece of metal would need an 11000kg mass to deform it that much which seems unreasonably large and as such I feel my calculations are incorrect
