Yes, Germany has been doing it for a while, wish there was a provider in the US that did this. I haven’t seen a provider yet in the US.

I have been using a device produced by a New Jersey clinic in the U.S. which uses the same stimulation pattern as the German devices, which are not available in the u.S. The ACS 3000 may not be as sophisticated at the Eyetronic device offered in German, but may be helping me a bit. After using the device for 30 minutes a day for between 5 and 7 days a week my latest eye chart test showed that the vision in my left eye improved from 20/125 to 20/100. My right eye has lost a lot of my central vision. My eye chart test six months ago showed that I could only see the PA holding up fingers in front of my eye. My most recent test allowed me to read the top of the eye chart so I could see between 20/250 and a couple of letters on the 20/200 line. I will need to do visual fields to see if it shows any improvement in the pattern there. I couldn't hold my eye on the yellow dot in the right eye to do the visual field test properly. The ACS 3000 costs $2500. It is a bit of a rube Goldberg device. The wires and the main chassis are clearly not custom build. You use a headwrap to hold the paddles on your eye which hold sponges that you soack in saline to make the electrical contact. It is clearly not as sleek or well designed as the Eyetronic device approved in Euriope, but you can't purchase the device or use it outside of Europe. The price for the U.S. device is high, but you can reasonably say that they are making them in small batches and there are no savings you'd get with a more mass produced device. In any case, the clinics in Europe are charging 5,000 euros for the two week simulation, which includes a betterey of eye tests. Plus the costs of staying in Europe in the same city for two weeks and air fare to and from Europe. I tried to get into the U.S. studies, but was disqualified due to having had a epi-retinal membrane removed from the right eye. My advice would be to try and get in one of the U.S. trials first. Then consider the ACS 3000 device. If you have the money the European treatment is probably superior than the do it at home device.

It sounds like you feel strongly the ACS 300 is worth the money. I think if I could save even a little eyesight it would be worth it. It is expensive but would be much cheaper than a visit to Germany since I live in the US. Not to mention, you can do the therapy indefinitely for the cost of the kit whereas a two week therapy trip to Germany would be limited by...well, two weeks. How do you go about applying to be in a US study? I don't have any eye issues other than high IOP which resulted in some nerve damage so maybe would qualify. Any info would be helpful. thanks.

Germany has ALWAYS been a leader in eye improvement techniques and surgeries..they have one or 2 eye hospitals that are so top notch that it would be worth taking the plane trip and hotel costs..

no worries, gel-like, this can't be given too much. It does not matter if you give 2 drops.

don't know why it's still not put into use. This technology is known for over 10 years, and has very little side effects. Even if the improve is minor, it's worth doing it since it is simple, non-evasive, little to no side effect, and easily automated for low cost treatment.

Dear doctor please please answer i am so worried i am 22 my eye pressure right side is 19 and left 23. And i only done puff test and the doctor looked into my eye with his rooms microscope with a light and said it has no problem and that presure is ok, but I forgot to tell him that my mother and grandfather had glaucoma but in 50, so no i am worried and dont know what to do, another doctor said you should check 6 months to know if optic nerve damage or anything but i dont know shall i believe them, wouldn't that be too late, and i had blurry vision 2-3 times in past 6 months i am a medical student studying hard on ipad for 15 hours with a lot of stress which may be also contributing. I dont know what to do. And is there anything working like eating bluberry or anything . Qill i be precribed with iop eye drops? Are they for life? Do they have side effects? If this pressure lead me to glaucoma in my 20s will i get blind by 40s? And please i have one more question in the next two weeks i am going to check my eve pressure again with the GAT and corneal thickness measure and if my pressure was still borderline shall i accept the doctors advice to not take any treatment and just keep checking 6 monthly or shall i start taking iop lowering drops if he said? Wouldnt it be bad to start taking drops from my age and with knowing the fact that drops have side effects.. And wouldn't it be risky to just leave it as it is and wait until it damages the nerve and when that happens Then start taking treatment as some doctors say. i wish i could visit you because my case is rare in Iraq and the doctors tell me it is nothing, but i cant be confident. And I can't visit doctors abroad as I am Iraqi. I am so worried about what to do next. I truly appreciate it if vou can reply

I can tell you what I did but it may not be realistic for you. Just eating blueberries probably won't help but a radical lifestyle change could. I was diagnosed with glaucoma and studied up on it discovering that tiny glands in the eye are plugged or not functioning properly allowing pressure to build, standard science does not explain why but a very likely probability is that modern eating habits is the primary cause. I have had a lifetime of bad eating habits and I'd already lost part of my vision in one eye, this motivated me to adopt what is called a paleo type diet, which means you do not eat processed foods, refined sugars or rich fatty foods. Basically my diet is centered around lean meats (with little flavoring), fruits, vegetables and nuts (mostly uncooked) along with some legumes. I eat anything reputed to reduce eye pressure. It has worked for me, my eye pressure went down naturally without the assistance of eye drops or surgery, both eyes stay steady around 14-15 and I no longer get those over 20 readings I did when my eyesight was damaged. I also do intermittent fasting in which I don't eat for a day or sometimes 3 days, in the beginning I kicked it off with a 7 day fast. You must reduce your caloric intake to the point your body start cleaning things up inside and your eyes are one of the last places that this interior housecleaning takes place. I've noted that when I've slipped in my diet plan my eye pressure starts to elevate so for me, this is a permanent lifestyle, and it has been extraordinarily difficult because cravings for rich foods are like a drug addiction. I'm always a little hungry and am faced with temptation all the time, but the fear of going blind motivates me so I stick with it. However, it's not all bad, in many ways I feel better than I've ever felt in my life, more aware, and more energetic after initially feeling weak and faint all the time. I just feel all around healthier and never get sick anymore, I haven't had so much as a sniffle since adopting this and I usually catch cold or flu at least 2 times a years. You will need to order a tonometer, I ordered one from a company called iCare which is in Europe. It is expensive, these devices aren't cheap. That way you can monitor your eye pressure and will know how eye pressure can fluctuate and what influences the changes. Your eye doctor may discourage you, mine did and when I go in for eye pressure tests they shake their head when I say I'm not taking the drops but they can't deny my low eye pressure readings. It's great now that I can say that I no longer have glaucoma, which is a very empowering but the potential for it to come back on me is always there, so I have to live this way for the rest of my life. It seems a little unfair that there are people with even worse eating habits than mine that never develop glaucoma but who every said life is fair? I know that's a lot to read, and if it's too much I understand. I also totally understand if you simply cannot do this, I barely was able to, I almost threw in the towel and decided to get surgery as my eye doctor recommended but now am glad I didn't. There are always risks with surgery and using eye drops eventually causes your normal gland functions in the eye to stop functioning at all. Expect to lose weight if you do this, I'm not heavy, in fact, I was a skinny guy already but somewhere lost 10 lbs. from where I don't know. In any case, yes, eat blueberries, I eat tons of them but eating blueberry muffins or tossing a few down on top of a lot of processed junk isn't going to help, you must eat them, and other pressure reducing foods, as your primary food source. I can't guarantee what I'm doing works for everyone but it worked for me....good luck!

And no, I agree that just eating blueberries is not enough. You need to overhaul your diet, exercise and take some supplements that support eye health.
@janeriley480221 күн бұрын
And are your drinking enough water? Also v important - at least 1.5 litres per day
@jeremiahjohnson151321 күн бұрын
@ I try to but following a paleo diet I'm not nearly as thirsty as I used to be when i ate a lot of rich, processed foods. Refined sugars also make me inordinately thirsty and when it's not in my body, I just don't want to drink much waterI really haven't noticed that forcing myself to drink a lot of water changes my iop for the better, it's solid foods that seem to have the more direct impact.

@@Halfbloodprincess111 Hi - I did write a longer reply talking about diet, exercise etc but it has not been posted. Possibly because I included a link to an article on my website titled Food as Medicine. I suspect it will be reviewed and posted later. Essentially you need to eat a super healthy diet with plenty of vegetables, cut out or cut down sugar and processed foods, cut out or cut right down alcohol. Take plenty of exercise and drink at least 1.5 l of water per day. Supplements that support eye health and particularly glaucoma are Astaxanthin (taken at night), lutein and berberine. If you can make these changes, your eye pressures will come down. We really are what we eat. I have put drops in my eyes since I was 40 but on one drop of latanaprost in each eye at night. I have never needed more and my eye pressures are steady between 15 and 17. If I eat badly and drink alcohol eg at Christmas, my eye pressures go up. I go back to healthy eating and my eye pressures go down. I am 64 and pretty fit - I exercise most days and have personal trainer.
