It depends on what you want them to do. The contractions produced by e-stim devices are not the same as when you contract voluntarily. Studies show that using an estim device is better than doing nothing, but they are not better than manual pelvic floor training. Where they are helpful is if you are unable to create any contraction at all, they can be used to help identify the muscles. You should try to contract along with the e-stim contractions, but the goal should be to get to the stage where you can further your training without using a device. Have you seen a pelvic floor physio? It’s really best to see a physio, and if you will use an e-stim device, use it under the guidance of your physio. The devices are pretty much all the same, When it comes to the intra-vaginal stimulation. The shorts are a little difference in that they stimulate muscles surrounding the hips as well as the pelvic floor (eg. Glutes). This isn’t necessarily better as you still have the same issue - the contractions are not the same. A graded exposure system of pelvic floor exercises that includes functional exercises is usually the best way to go. Hope that helps!

Can you please post the names of the devices and possibly links to where to purchase them in the description? I would really appreciate that very much. I have received a late-stage diagnosis of genetic degenerative arthritis which includes severe bowel involvement, because of my joint instability I have actually suffered quite a few Falls including injuring my spine and falling on my sacral joint and injuring my pelvis which has altered my bowel function forever over 12 years ago and still has not been acknowledged as a medical problem for me despite not being able to eliminate my bowel normally since before that happened. Videos like yours keep me going on my journey which includes using enemas to assist evacuation of my bowel and toning the muscles internally through yet another different type of stimulation. Thank you so much for your kind Spirit unabashed way of presenting information as well as keeping me focussed on my pelvic Health specifically on my yoga Journey which is actually what started it to become very serious in a positive way in my life.

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had such a hard time. I can’t imagine why your doctors haven’t taken your bowel issues more seriously. One of my friends had a Tens Unit and I got to experience it. I did not care for it, it seemed like it was in control, but it does help excersising weak muscles when movement is restricted. Does not work well for sexual stimulation, for me. Great for paralyzed patients who may otherwise lose muscle mass from inactivity.
@TheFlowerEmpowered4 жыл бұрын
Timothy Freeman thanks for the comment! There are some differences between tens units and these devices. If the tens device is designed to allow you to adjust the frequency (pulse rate) with sufficient range, you could use it for muscle stimulation. Tens is used for relaxing muscles and easing pain, typically in the range of 80 and 120Hz. Muscle stimulation is typically in the range of 35 to 50Hz. The pattern of the pulse also has an impact. Muscles stimulation, as you point out, can also be food for patients with limited mobility or paralysis. In the case of patients who have suffered a stroke and are suffering from dysphasia, muscles stimulation, just like the one used for stimulating the pelvic floor, is used to help stimulate the muscles of the throat to aide swallowing. It’s quite an interesting sensation, like a spasm in the throat, and you really have to push to swallow. This helps to create new neural pathways thus re-teaching the brain how to swallow. From the perspective of pelvic floor dysfunction, I do believe that you should only use these devices as a tool to help retrain the mind to muscle connection in the same way as the stroke patients. Just plugging the device in and letting it “work it’s magic” isn’t going to make a significant difference. You have to participate. Also, these devices are not designed to stimulate any type of sexual stimulation, although they are often sold on “too shy to buy” websites.

These aren’t for sexual stimulation; they’re for pain relief & to help with urinary issues too. My pelvic floor muscles are basically in a Charlie Horse & my vaginal walls are in a varying state of collapse depending on my level of pain, procedures I’ve had, overdoing basic activities, etc. While it is uncomfortable to painful to insert most of the time, it pulses & relaxes the muscles, easing the pain. Pain that would’ve kept me in bed for days or weeks can be minimized by using this machine.

Generally, these devices are used when you are unable to contract the pelvic floor. They should be used to help you to feel the contraction, but if you want to see results, you should also include manual contractions that are progressively training your pelvic floor in many different positions. That way, your pelvic floor is more likely to function correctly when you are making different movements. Have you seen a pelvic floor physiotherapist for an assessment?

Yes, the rectal probe be helpful if connected to a biofeedback device. With the biofeedback, you get to see the contraction so you will know you are using the right muscles. If you are struggling to contract the area then the electrical stimulation can be useful to help you get started, but check with your physio before you try as it could make things worse if you have dysinergia. Hi Mohanlal, have you tried to do some gentle pelvic floor exercises to start? It is important to reestablish the mind to muscle connection after surgery. I would try that before using a device. You can use this video to help with that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHjaqZ-NhtlgiZY I will plan to make some videos showing these devices and how to use them, but please do try to do the exercises manually before adding a device as the devices do not stimulate in the same way as a voluntary contraction and so can be less functional.
@sahb80912 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video. My question is somewhat technical, and I’m wondering if you could offer some guidance. What are these probes made of and what is the longest one I can easily get? I managed to find a spot inside which when stimulated by a weak pulse, helps my pelvic pain considerably. However, I am having trouble replicating this result because the device is pushed in to the hilt, with the spot slightly out of reach again. A longer probe with the electrodes at the end, maybe at 15cm, or some advice on whether I could take one of these electrodes apart and extend it with PVC etc. Really want to take control of my health. Thank you for reading this.
@TheFlowerEmpowered2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sah, the probes are generally plastic with a metal or gold plated stimulation pad. The probes are designed to stimulate the deep pelvic floor muscles which are (on average) 2.5 to 3cm inside the vaginal passage. For this reason, vaginal probes tend not to be longer than 8 or 9cm, although there are some anal probes that are longer (10 or 11cm). Have you been to a pelvic floor therapist or gynecologist to see if they can identify the area that is giving you relief when stimulated? It may well be the cervix (which can be extremely sensitive in some individuals). The cervix is higher/lower at different stages during the menstrual cycle. You can read about that on this page: theflowerempowered.com/knowledge-portal/pelvic-organ-prolapse/ Have you tried TENS skin electrodes on the sacrum or low/mid back? Your device should have instructions for placement if that is supported by your device. Working with a pelvic floor PT can help you identify the best placement for pelvic floor relief. Hope that helps.

Hey Amal, pelvic floor exercises can help with bladder prolapse. Have you seen a pelvic floor physical therapist? I would definitely have a physio check things out before using electrical stimulation. The contractions created by estim are not the same as a normal functional contraction so I always recommend to start first by regaining pelvic floor control before adding in artificial stimulation. If you do go ahead with a device, they are all designed for home use. You should check with your medical professional before using and make sure to follow the manufacturers instructions. @TheFlowerEmpowered3 жыл бұрын
This is such a good question! The answer is not as straightforward as you might expect. Muscles tend to work in pairs or groups and have relationships with other muscles where sometimes one needs to relax for another to contract. Due to this, it is often the case that you will have some parts of your pelvic floor (and other parts of your body) that are hypertonic (tight) and others that are hypotonic (lax). Both hypo- and hyper- tonic muscles are dysfunctional because they cannot contract or lengthen properly (yes, even tight muscles are considered weak as they typically cannot contract further). Usually, the pelvic floor is assessed by a physiotherapist who has trained in pelvic floor function. They check for strength by asking the patient to contract, and they check for tension (hypertonicity) by feeling the pelvic floor. Tight muscles typically feel hard and are often sore. The other indicators are the symptoms where tightness often comes with pain and laxity is often accompanied with inability to contract and symptoms like stress incontinence. When it comes to deciding what you should focus on, the question is if you should focus on length before strength. Both are actually needed but I have written an article on that question that gives some advice on where/how to start: theflowerempowered.com/2020/10/29/should-you-focus-on-length-before-strength-with-pfd-oct-2020/ Hope that helps! 💕

@TheFlowerEmpowered2 жыл бұрын
It is safe, but I would always do it under the guidance of a pelvic floor physiotherapist as it’s not for everyone. For example, if you have a hypertonic (tight) pelvic floor, it could make things tighter or painful. If you are working to build strength, stimulation can be helpful initially if you can’t find it contract your pelvic floor. It’s not the same as a normal pelvic floor contraction though so you would still need to do those. Kegel balls are weights. They can be useful once you have gained some strength and control. Hope that helps!

Yes, E-Stim devices are used if you are unable to create a pelvic floor contraction. It’s important that you learn to contract without these devices. Typically, the physical therapist will teach you to make the contractions yourself after using a device like this.

Thanks for video. I see tens and tens of questions but not many people give feedback if after purchasing and using it condition really improved. Would ge good to know the results otherwise for me this sounds like a gadget.
@TheFlowerEmpowered3 жыл бұрын
The big question is “why” do you want to purchase a gadget? What is the issue you are trying to address? There are occasions where devices are very helpful, even required - for example, If you are incontinent and are completely unable to create the mind to muscle connection to contract, then an E-stim device will help you to feel the muscle and contract. The device will also ensure you are recruiting all muscle fibers so it can “turn on” areas that you maybe aren’t yet reaching with your mind. Its important to also contract yourself though, because stimulated contraction are not the same as contracting yourself. On the other hand, if you just have mild incontinence and can already contract your pelvic floor, the device can help a small bit, but there is a lot of work you need to do for yourself to regain full continence. Does that help?
@wowerman3 жыл бұрын

@TheFlowerEmpowered3 жыл бұрын
@@wowerman I hear you. I personally didn't find these devices helpful for overcoming my incontinence. For the small leakage when going from sitting to standing, there is a little more involved than just pelvic floor training. You really have to learn to balance intraabdominal pressures. Also, pelvic floor training that is done lying down or sitting isn't going to make much of a difference unless your leaking only happens when you are lying down or sitting. I had to train my body to deal with pressure changes in all planes of movement. It took about 18 months to go from not being able to stand or walk without fully emptying to being able to run/jump etc without leaking. I have quite a few videos on the channel covering many different exercises. I have also written a book and created a video course if you want a more structured approach to overcoming incontinence.

Thank you for your videos. Exercises are very good instruction. Can you provide some guidance as to how to use EMS for male pelvic muscle strengthening? By that I mean how long of a contraction and subsequent relaxation. For example ten seconds on, ten seconds off. Longer? Or short pulses?
@TheFlowerEmpowered2 жыл бұрын
I generally advise that you use EMS under the guidance of a pelvic floor physiotherapist. In many places, they will advise contract release cycles with 5 seconds work and 5 seconds rest. In Scandinavia, they sometimes suggest consistent stimulation. Before using EMS, you have to ask yourself why. The contractions with EMS are not the same as manual contractions. The EMS treatment is better than doing nothing, but not necessarily effective at creating functional strength. I Oftentimes, the pelvic floor needs to be relaxed, rather than strengthened (tight muscles are weak muscles), in which case, EMS could exacerbate the issue. So… in summary… if you can go see a pelvic floor physiotherapist, the can assess your pelvic floor and ensure you have the right treatment for your condition. Hope that helps 😊

Thanks for this video and I seriously need some advice please. Once I turned 30 I started to experience urine leakage especially during and after my period and this has been going on for 4 years now. I seen the doctor when it first started and they thought it was an over active bladder and wanted to put me on some meds but I rejected the offer. I have carried on like that as its very manageable but sometimes on my return home from work or outside, if i don't use the bathroom on time I could even be urinating on myself without intending to do so which is really stressful and annoying. Recently my partner told me that my vagina all of a sudden wasn't gripping enough and seem to be too loose, this is so shocking as it was never like this and I haven't had much sexual experience plus i don't have any children yet. This actually got me thinking about the whole symptoms and if they could be related. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been having such a hard time. I’ve been there, struggling with incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. You can get through this. Have you seen a pelvic floor physiotherapist? Would be good to have your pelvic floor checked. It’s not necessarily weak. A hypertonic (tight) muscle can also contribute to leakage as it can’t contract more. I wouldn’t use a device like this without first getting checked. @TheFlowerEmpowered4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eve, I’m sorry to hear you’ve had surgery and are now having motor control issues. There isn’t much by way of research into e-stim for patients with loss of pelvic floor motor control following surgery. However, I have been privileged to spent some time with researchers who developed an estim device to help patients with dysphagia (inability to swallow) after a stroke. We discussed the potential to use a similar method to restore pelvic floor in neurological patients and all agreed it would be worth trying. With the dysphagia treatment, the supra-hyoid (swallow) muscles are stimulated using a device similar to the pelvic floor devices. This initiates contractions and patients are trained to swallow when the muscles are contracting. This is believed to help restore mind to muscle connection in order to restore control. Your neurologist may already be aware of these types of treatment and can confirm if this type of treatment would be suitable for you. She/he should also be able to guide you on whether you should use internal or external stimulation and may also advise on the best device and settings. My advice would be to perform your own contractions while using estim in the same way that stroke patients do. I believe this should produce better results than just letting the device “do the work”. A “real” contraction is not the same as the estim contraction but estim could be an effective way to assist in reestablishing mind to muscle connection. I haven't, but I do always recommend using these devices under the guidance of a physiotherapist. Have you seen a physio? They can do an assessment of your muscle function and can test your reflexes. These devices can be helpful if you have no ability to contract but regardless of whether or not you use them, you should also practice manual contractions in a progressive way to ensure that your pelvic floor functions properly for whatever movements you need to make in a day.

The tens machine can provide some relief, but it’s not as effective as pelvic floor relaxation exercises. Most of these devices come with a relaxation program, and if you use it for the pelvic floor, make sure to follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer as it’s easy to increase hypertonicity either the wrong settings.

The estim devices shouldn’t impact your ovaries, but they can cause contractions in other areas. It may have stimulated your psoas or some of your abdominals as well as your pelvic floor. @@TheFlowerEmpowered I apologize for the abrupt comment. I don't know how else to quickly message you. Basically what's been happening is I have been experiencing a loss of nerves/sensation on my perineal area and genitals for some reason. I don't know exactly why, it could range from anxiety/stress, a bug bite there I had from a blood sucking insect that may have carried a disease (I haven't checked if that's the case), living somewhat sedentary for a while now even though I was doing some workout routines before I experienced a moment of depressive thoughts going through me which triggered something I felt in my spine that sent like a shockwave signal to my pelvic area which caused minor nerve loss, which again I felt and it freaked me out, that's only been gradually getting worse over time that I haven't treated yet. I also have a bit of a history with sleep deprivation ever since a young age mostly caused by me going to sleep very late starting in grade school all the way till high school up until now in my early 20's. I have been getting more sleep lately but there were times where I was abruptly awoken during the morning which caused me to feel stressed and have some more nerve loss. This has happened more than a few occasions throughout last year and the year prior when I had a noisy neighbor. I also felt nerve loss sometimes whenever I orgasmed ( I apologize for mentioning this), and other times when it wasn't intentional like when I experienced nocturnal emissions that I had no control over. I'm not experiencing any other health issues, I eat healthy and don't consume much sugar and I'm not overweight or underweight. I haven't looked into this issue mainly because I have been putting it off for a while now and I'm not doing to well financially at the moment, so the insurance I have right now may or may not cover it. So I'm wondering what I should do since I'm a bit scared by this and wondering if it's too late to fix anything and if there's any permanent damage done. I read about both devices that can stimulate nerves and how red ginseng root can calm the nerves and revitalize them. But again, I'm not sure what options to explore, could you maybe suggest something?
@TheFlowerEmpowered3 жыл бұрын
When you say loss of sensation, is it skin sensation or deeper?
@doclouis42363 жыл бұрын
@@TheFlowerEmpowered Yes, skin sensation is gradually being lost more. Deeper sensation is as well though I wouldn't say as much at the moment but it's getting there from what I feel. Best way to describe it is as, whenever I was younger I could feel my genitals hanging and I could feel them swing if I did so. It felt like something was there. I was very sensitive, even when I was unconscious and asleep. I could've also felt them rubbing against something if I pushed them onto a surface while clothed. But I don't feel that now, it feels like it's gone. If I could also say, whenever I have an erection, I'm surprised to still get it but I feel as if it's not fully solid and if I bend it a bit that I might easily break my penis if I did so. So I'm worried about that. I apologize if I'm getting too far into detail.
@doclouis42363 жыл бұрын
@@TheFlowerEmpowered One more thing I have to say, however. Is that the size and shape hasn't changed as of now, though I'm worried if this could lead to some sort of permanent damage like arterial atrophy or something similar that could lead to a decrease in size over time if left untreated.

@TheFlowerEmpowered4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruth, if you are getting 1/10 on contraction, I would first work to enhance the mind to muscle connection. I wouldn’t start will full kegels but instead break the Kegels down into separate components as covered in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHjaqZ-NhtlgiZY By breaking the Kegel down, you will get to see which parts of your pelvic floor respond and which your brain is not reaching. You can do it lying on your back and gently touch the area you are trying to contract as touch enhances the connection between the brain and the muscle you are trying to reach. I would actually avoid electrical stimulation if it’s irritating your bladder. I suggest waiting to use e-stim devices until you have gained some control. Also, once per day is enough for pelvic floor exercises and it’s best to enhance the mind to muscle connection before working on endurance (long holds) and speed (short holds). Hope that helps. Let me know how you get on 💕

Can these stimulations fix Levator Ani Avulsion?
@TheFlowerEmpowered Жыл бұрын
Stimulation can be used to ensure all muscle fibers are firing, but it’s not quite the same as a voluntary contraction. The thing to remember with avulsion is that there is some detachment - but all parts of the pelvic floor are surrounded in connective tissue and encased between layers of other muscles, tissues, bones etc. The avulsion itself might not ever reattach but you can work to strengthen and control the surrounding muscles in order to improve or maintain function. Are you working with a PT?

I read that Electrogalvanic stimulation (EGS) is very helpful for levator ani syndrome. Is this the tool used for that?
@TheFlowerEmpowered4 жыл бұрын
The studies on Levator Ani syndrome (LAS) that use EGS are small non-randomized studies and thus not a great indicator. The most recent I have seen compared EGS, Digital stimulaton (manual release by therapist fingers) and biofeedback (training muscle relaxation) and the outcome showed biofeedback to be most efficient. EGS is typically a high voltage pulsed current that is performed using an anal probe in-clinic. The Galvanic current (even when pulsed) is a direct current. The e-stim devices typically provide symmetrical, rectangular bi-phasic with zero DC current. For that reason I wouldn’t use these devices for LAS treatment and would instead focus on modalities that relax the pelvic floor. I have some videos that help with the relaxation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKrbYZKGgJWEY5Y or kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIi0qKicjr6LbM0. You can try these for relaxation and speak to your pelvic floor PT if you want to try EGS. They should have the equipment in clinic. Hope that helps!

Hi Kip, these devices don't contract the muscles in the same way as a voluntary pelvic floor contraction. They can help if you are unable to create the connection between your brain and your pelvic floor. Have you tried the video on regaining control? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHjaqZ-NhtlgiZY The mind to muscle connection is a really important one. When you lose the ability to contract your pelvic floor, it can be helpful to use one of these devices, but I would always start with trying to establish your mind to muscle connection manually. You can touch the area you are trying to contract if you don't feel a contraction as that can help to bring awareness to the area. I will plan some videos explaining what I mean in some more detail.

As soon as I got pregnant all symptoms just disappeared so I was just using it to strenghthen. Now I have symptoms back again about 6 weeks ago, after exercises with weights, I have been doing kegels daily and it still happened again? slowly getting better with hypopressives. My physios, ive seen 3! gave me more kegels to do and showed me how to relax, they said kegels were the best thing for prolapse symptoms. I had a grade 1-2. How do I strenghthen my pelvic floor so I don't keep getting these prolapse symptoms? Thank you ♥️
@TheFlowerEmpowered4 жыл бұрын
Interesting that your POP symptoms disappeared when pregnant, that’s likely because everything got a nice stretch. Kegels won’t stop you from feeling POP symptoms. Pelvic organ prolapse has a lot to do with how distribution of load. It’s not that your organs are slipping or falling from their normal position. It’s more that they are being pulled. It’s the pulling of connective tissue that can create the dragging feeling you can get when POP is symptomatic. Lifting the floor can help, but it’s not the only focus. If you think about your body in general, maybe you can remember feeling stiff or having limited movement compared to normal after doing something strenuous. The same “stiffness” can be felt in the pelvic floor. In your body, each muscle has a specific function and sometimes muscles won’t do their proper job because they are repairing after being worked hard. If they constantly have to do more than they should, that can cause them to become hypertonic. It’s the connective tissue system that distributes load through your body. Kegels are great to do, but not the only thing you should do. I would suggest you try adding in some stretches and relaxation. You could try the relaxation video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKrbYZKGgJWEY5Y When it comes to lifting weights with POP, I actually avoided lifting weights for a long time as I was concerned about my POP, but when I learned about how the body actually functions, I realized that it shouldn’t stop me from lifting. I would go so far as to say some lifting could be good as it trains how to load the system. Last year, I went to the gym six days per week and lifted very heavy weights (for me) and in Nov, I competed in a bodybuilding competition. This went against many things I had been told, but my POP didn’t get worse. For me, I only get symptomatic If I allow myself to get constipated and have to strain unnecessarily. For you, it may be something different that triggers symptoms. Once you learn what triggers symptoms, you can manage or avoid those triggers. It could be good to watch Anna Crowle, a pelvic floor PT and researcher who recently released a study on POP. She is having great success with improving POP by releasing connective tissue tension within the pelvic floor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3jTnmaweJagldk

Can these devices be used for levator ani syndrome?
@TheFlowerEmpowered9 ай бұрын
Potentially - it very much depends on your ability too contract. The e-stim devices work by sending a small electrical signal through the muscle which forces recruitment of many (if not all) muscle fibers. This is helpful if you cannot contract the muscles at all, as the signal is bringing a lot of awareness to the muscle which can make it a little easier for you to contract. It's not going to make a big difference when it comes to muscle strength, nor will it make a huge difference when it comes to your ability to control the muscles. For strength/control/endurance you would need to do manual exercises in varying positions where you progressively overload. So to summarize: If your levator ani syndrome prevents you from being able to contract your pelvic floor, e-stim devices can help to bring your awareness to the muscle while triggering most of the muscle fibers to contract. This may be helpful at the very start of your pelvic floor training, but you would need to do manual exercises that progressively overload your muscles if you are to gain strength, control and endurance in order to overcome LAS. Make sense? In addition - you should use e-stim under the guidance of a physiotherapist.

Have you had your pelvic floor assessed by a pelvic floor physio? It is quite possible that the issue is related to pelvic floor tension and hypertonicity rather than laxity. Both lax and tight muscles are weak. Try practicing pelvic floor relaxation for a week or two and see if it helps. You’ll find lots of relaxation videos on the channel. It’s best not to use any devices while trying this. Relaxation is also helpful when you have laxity, but with laxity, you should also work on contractions. Are you able to manually contract your pelvic floor (without using the device)? The contractions produced by the device are not the same as the ones that you can manually do, so you should also add some manual contractions in different positions. Have you seen the 30 day challenge on the channel? You could try that after a week or two of relaxation. Hope that helps. Let me know how it goes 😊🌸

Hi Can this help with vaginismus?
@TheFlowerEmpowered Жыл бұрын
No, the electrical stimulation is used for strengthening
@SSpitz16 Жыл бұрын
@@TheFlowerEmpowered Thank you for answering. However, doesn't a person with vaginismus already has more than enough strengh? What the person needs is to learn how to relax and not strenght even more a muscle that is already more than strong. I am speaking as a former person with vaginismus. that is solved over a year ago. I tried this electrical stimulation and it did nothing for me. I solved it in another way.
@TheFlowerEmpowered Жыл бұрын
@@SSpitz16 This video is talking about devices used for strengthening the pelvic floor. The channel focuses on pelvic floor dysfunction which is a broad subject that includes conditions of hypertonicity (such as vaginismus) and hypotonicity (where there is weakness). The video is not for people with vaginismus - which is why I responded "NO" in response to your question if this would help with vaginismus. This video does not help with vaginismus. With regards to a person with vaginismus having enough strength - this is also an incorrect assumption. Tight muscles are not strong muscles. In order for those muscles to have strength, they need to be relaxed, which allows the muscle fibres to return to a normal length from their shortened length. When muscles have a normal length, they can both contract and relax. Anyone with pelvic floor dysfunction will need to work to bring the muscles back to a normal length. So, I am not surprised that electrical stimulation didn't work for you as it contracts the muscles, and you cannot shorten an already contracted muscle. What you would have needed were exercises and practice that lengthen the muscles. I'm delighted that you found a solution and have overcome vaginismus 😊🌸

Does the electrical device and insertion probe also help vaginal atrophy (painful sex) related to menopause/postmenopause?
@TheFlowerEmpowered3 жыл бұрын
I would be careful with estim during perimenopause. Generally the atrophy is accompanied by vaginal dryness. That can sometimes make the tissues very light as well as dry. In some cases, they may be too sensitive for the electrical current. It’s best to check with the manufacturer of the specific device regarding the internal probe. You may be able to use external skin electrodes instead if the vaginal skin isn’t up to the electrodes.

What about women who have no incontinence or other problems except fsd like anorgasmia as they have aged? It’s like ED but women have the same issues. EVERYONE cares about ED of course 🙄 (sarcasm)

I hear you, ED is a much hotter topic in media versus FSD. (ED- Erectile dysfunction, FSD - Female sexual dysfunction for those of you unfamiliar). The discovery that PTNS (posterior tibial nerve stimulation) was helpful for FSD was actually a side discovery during a study into Overactive bladder. There have been few studies into PTNS for treating urinary issues and even less into FSD. Studies have also been quite small (as in few participants). I tried TPTNS (where skin electrodes are used) when working to regain my continence. Would a video explaining how to use it and the details from the studies on the different studies be helpful?

Uterine prolapse is not a life sentence and a healthy sex life is still possible. Have you had a pelvic floor PT make an assessment of the grade of your prolapse? There is so much you can do to alleviate symptoms. Also, when having sex, your partner will not know you have prolapse unless you tell. I set the program of stress and tone and barely felt anything until I raised the current to 99.5 and I felt just tiny lift. With the other two programs (urge and mixed I felt NOTHING) Am I using it wrong or is my device defective or is my symptom too heavy? If I start with 99.5 which is the max current setting.. How can I raise/progress from there? Looking forward to hearing from you.. I'm really worried! Thank you for the video ☺️

Hi VC, urine leakage isn’t always due to weak pelvic floor muscles, in fact, it is often due to hypertonic (tight) muscles. I would expect you may have hypertonic muscles if you aren’t feeling much of a contraction when you use the device. For an example of why this is, make a fist and squeeze as hard as you can. That’s a hypertonic muscle contraction. Now if you try to squeeze it more when you are already squeezing as hard as you can, you won’t be able to manage more than a flicker of extra strength. I expect this is what may be happening when you use the device. You may be wondering why you would experience leakage with muscles that are tight like this. I want you to visualize your pelvic floor like an elastic base beneath all your pelvic organs. If you are jumping rope, that springy base needs to be stretchy so that it can flex along with all your organs. If it is stiff due to being hypertonic, it won’t stretch and that can result in excessive pressure when you land which can cause the leakage. Make sense? I would suggest you don’t use the pelvic floor device and instead work on stretching and relaxing as that will allow those overly tight muscles to relax which should make them springy enough to deal with the pressure when skipping or jumping. You can go to a pelvic floor physical therapist to have an assessment of your pelvic floor done and they can assist with down-training (training your pelvic floor to relax). You can try this video too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKrbYZKGgJWEY5Y 😊

I have been diagnosed with PFD by my PT. It was first brought on by excessive long distance running and hasn't permanently gone away for over 7 years. I finished treatment with my PT a few months ago and was feeling great, but the spasms and tingling in my vaginal muscles is returning. I haven't been running much at all. It just kind of came back. My PT lengthened my pelvic floor muscles, then we worked on strengthening them. Would you recommend electrical stim for me? If so, would a TENS machine, EMS, or both be beneficial? Vaginal probe or skin pads or both? Thanks so much!
@TheFlowerEmpowered3 жыл бұрын
Hi Molly, it very much depends on what you are trying to achieve TENS can be useful for relaxation in some scenarios but it’s generally given as a treatment by your physio. Did your Physio recommend TENS? for relaxation, it’s usually skin electrodes and generally they are placed either at the sacrum or a little higher up the back depending on the specific treatment. The devices that are used for strengthening are often not suited to relaxation (unless they have been manufactured to do both). When it comes to E-stim for strength, it’s usually advised if the patient cannot achieve a contraction or find their pelvic floor muscles. The E-stim is used until the patient can contract themselves and then the focus shifts to manual contraction.

@TheFlowerEmpowered22 күн бұрын
I have tried all the devices - they have a use, but they don’t really do so much for strength. If you are completely unable to reach your muscles with your mind, they have help you to feel a contraction, but they are it the same as a normal contraction. Also, relaxing the muscles is usually the best place to start as many have hypertonicity (tightness) - tight muscles are weak muscles! The coregasm is a real thing, but it’s not so common.

What do you think of the Apex Pelvic Floor Muscle Exerciser? It has the stimulation contacts positioned so that they face the front and back wall of the vagina, rather than the sides. If the stimulation should always be at the sides, why would they make a machine that stimulates the front and back? Would the Apex be more effective if it were inserted sideways? Thank you for your channel; I've just found it and am looking forward to watching your playlists.☺♥

Hi Olive, I’ve had a look online at the Apex unit. I haven’t actually tried one but would not be a fan of the placement of the electrodes. The front and back walls are typically avoided due to their proximity to the urethra and rectum. I would be interested to read any studies connected to the Apex device to see if there were any negative effects from directing motor nerve stimulation in that way. I’ll take a look online to see if I can find anything. Happy you’ve found my channel! I wouldn’t use an electrical probe on the urethra. It’s quite a small muscle and plays an important role in the reflexes of ruination. Directly stimulating it can interfere with these reflexes. Also, sphincters are a little unlike most skeletal muscles in form (circular) so it wouldn’t necessarily respond in the same way as other muscles that have origin/insertion.

So sorry to hear what you’ve been through. Have you tried hypopressive exercises? Connective tissue takes longer to repair/rejuvenate than muscle tissue and the connective tissues will have a reasonable impact on the prolapses. Hypopressives will help with stimulating the connective tissues from above. You can also add some inversion exercises to counter gravity giving the tissues a bit of a break from the constant downward force. Legs up the wall with hips elevated can be quite nice. Are you getting much pelvic floor lift when you do pelvic floor exercises? Biofeedback should be helpful. The cheapest/easiest biofeedback available is a mirror and your hand. You can see the lift and feel the lift.
