Electrical Stimulation : Heel raises / calf strengthening

Being able to lift your heel is important when working on walking after a neurological injury such as a Stroke. To push off and propel the body forwards when walking, you need to have the calf strength to lift the heel. This video shows you how to use electrical stimulation to work on this.

With foot drop/spasticity this is the last thing I would need!

Calf strengthening is useful to help push off when walking ie propel your self forward. If you have foot drop and spasticity you would still work on this but could add this in . It certainly wouldn’t be a good thing to do as a replacement but can be done as all around rehab for the foot/ankle for walking
