As a 6 month apprentice my 17 edition has been very helpful for the past 6 months. After graduating from trade school I asked my self if i was ever going to open the book at an actual job site. Well their i am opening it up on my second week after being hired looking up for multipliers for bending emt, looking up amp ratings on conductors, & conduit fill.

That's awesome bro, I used to be anti uglies because I thought "real electricians used the code book" Little did I know all the amazing things inside there!

I noticed there is also an "Ugly’s Residential Wiring" guide. Compared to Ugly's Electrical Reference which is more comprehensive?

Guy's I found a book on Amazon it's called "2017 Key Word Index by Tom Henry" and it's for the NEC 2017. I'll be ordering it Friday.

Definitely bro, it's a great quick reference. I feel like I was allowed to bring it into my inspector certifications but not my electrical license testing. But each testing center is different! I'll make a review video for that book here in the coming weeks. Here's a link to pick that book up if you want to help support the channel! amzn.to/2Kx4aNH

Some Ugly's I've seen with tabs and some don't....Why is that? Where can I buy the tabs at? Are they any different then the regular tabs u would buy for the NEC book/can I use the NEC book tabs on Ugly?
@ElectricalCodeCoach4 жыл бұрын
You could just Make your own tabs or use the mike holt tabs to tab your ugly's book. I have made a video on how to tab your code book you could just use the same set of tabs and apply them in the proper areas on the ugly's Here's the link for the code book tabbing video kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5XagmCemtmZitU

Would you say this reference book could be useful even for a Canadian electrician? (Precisely Quebec in fact)

That's a great question. I have never dealt with the CE code. I do know that a lot of the information in the book is universal. A good example being ohm's law. Check with a local inspector or your local supply house and see if any of them use it! Let me know what you find out.

I appreciate all your content. I take my master exam in a month the bulletin says for references I can use the ugly booklet. Was that the case for you? I’m just nervous that if I study and rely on that booklet and then they only allow my codebook then I’ll be taking longer per question.

im not big on testing with the uglys but it wouldn't hurt to have it!

Any buddy ever notice page 6 in this book math is wrong? How did they add 1/60+1/80+120 and get 1/240? And not 1/260...lol
