I bought my rad mini 4E bike last June down in San Diego at the store down by the border. I originally went down there to look at Aventon but but what the heck I did have good feelings toward rad rover. Anyway I am so glad I bought my bike. I’ve got 800 miles on it in fact I just barely got off it just now. I am 67 years old and I drive a Fiat. The bicycle fit in the back perfectly. Like it was made for it. I am so darn happy, every time I ride it I have fun. And everything works perfectly.

This is a great e-bike. Had mine for 4 years now. Anyone craving for faster speed, it’s worth upgrading your controller, motor and battery (52V battery). These upgrades changed the dynamics of my bike and increased my range and speed (32 MPH) of the bike. For a lot more range, best to get a 48v 19ah battery.

Sorry if I missed this in the review: The Mini has an integrated brake light powered from the main battery. I wish that was a standard feature on every e-bike. I live where a lot of our roads don't have either a bike lane or a sidewalk, and I always get cars tailing me while waiting for the oncoming traffic to clear so they can pass. If I need to hit the brakes suddenly there's a chance a car will hit me from behind since they're focusing on the oncoming traffic and might not notice my deceleration. (I'm pretty sure most cars can't stop in 20 feet at 20 mph.)

A very good and honest review of the Rad Mini 4 with a few shall we say misunderstandings. The motor is a 500 watt motor that is being fed 750 watts by the controller. The stock motor cutoff setting programmed into the controller is 20 mph on bikes sold in the USA. That setting is however accessible by the customer so you must have adjusted that value for the Mini to have exceeded 20 mph with the motor running.

You probably can't answer on here but I will try anyway. Between the Rad Mini 4 and the Espin Nesta if you could only have one knowing you lived and traveled in a RV and you were a 225lb guy which would you purchase?
@ElectricBikeReport2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you'd be going wrong either way. From our tests the Mini held slightly higher speeds and had a few miles better battery range on max assist, whereas the Nesta was a better hill climber (one of the better ones we've tested period, actually). Rad is the larger company which might provide some peace of mind for any warranty/service things that pop up, but Espin hasn't been too bad on that front from our experience at least. Like I said, not sure you're going wrong with either of them!

Great review. Based on some of the video of you riding, it seems to me like the handle bars are not far enough forward - or not enough distance between the bars and the seat. Something just looks a bit off. Especially noticeable in the long shots of you riding. Also, at the end when viewing your leg clearance to the frame, it looks to me that you don't get good leg extension. In all the videos of people using foldables like this or the Lectric, it seems that no one ever has the seat high enough to get good leg extension - and the only time I see proper leg extension is when people are up out of the saddle.

67 lbs. Hard to say on if your feet will touch - rated for 5'2" - 6'2" heights. Seat is okay for a stock option, but its among the easier replacements if you want to find a different one. Comes ready to ride, but we suggest tuning it to your preferences before riding.

Thanks for the info. I just had my radrunner stolen. My wife has a Radcity step thru. We have steep hill right out of our driveway and I would like to replace the radrunner with a step thru model (knee surgeries) with 7 speeds to help on hills. I'm 6' 240 and was wondering if the Rad mini step thru would work/hold up over time for me, or if I should step up to the radcity or radrover. The radrunner plus looks great, but right now the mini is $1299 and the runner+ is $1799. I think I'd like to try the mini if it would hold up. Any thoughts would be helpful.

I would support rad but overall that Ive seen in the ebike scene, rad is overpricing itself just cuz of its “brand name”. Theres nothing super special unique to their bikes🤷🏼♂️. They’re future is gonna be like crapsman tools of today if they dont try to offer bikes that reflects off its performance. I know the fanbois gnna eat up any crap they put out but a lot of customers can see thru their bs marketing once they start researching.

Great presentation! Several years ago I got a Trek mountain bike and added a kit onto it with a 750W rear direct-drive motor and 36V / 10A battery. It was my exclusive means of getting around Reno for about 18 months. I was able to get 12-14 miles per charge and my max speed on a flat road was 23 MPH. (It doesn't have pedalec.) I put on about 2500 miles. It was great. I haven't used it much lately but pulled it out of storage recently and was surprised that the battery was still good and the motor still works. But either the bike has grown or I've shrunk, because getting onto it is a real PITA. Also, riding it now feels quite top-heavy due to the high center of gravity. So I've been looking around for something with smaller wheels, a lower CoG, and a beefier power plant. Also, a 26" mountain bike that weighs 70 lbs is incredibly difficult to get into any kind of vehicle other than a pickup or van of some kind, regardless of how roomy it is. So having one that folds would make it far easier to transport when needed. I'm eager to try one of these out. I like the fact that it comes with fenders and there's a lot of stuff integrated that makes sense, like the lights and computer. As I look at it, two things come to mind: how can I secure it adequately to keep people from screwing with it when it's parked (eg, unlatching the thing to fold it up), say while I'm at a grocery store? (Most places here don't have bike racks and safe places are often only for use by employees.) The other is why can't they do something to hide all of the wires and cables? Or at least run them through the chassis or use add-on channels?
@treezza28172 жыл бұрын
They did a better job of hiding cables on the recent Plus models.
