The Ride1UP Prodigy V2 LX is a trekking/commuter e-bike that shows an amazing value proposition. Equipped with a Brose mid-drive motor, Enviolo continuously variable transmission, air-spring fork, Tektro 4-piston disc brakes and a full package of accessories, it is a commuter’s dream.
Thanks to a 504Wh battery, this e-bike is a long range champ and would be terrific for anyone wanting to do touring by e-bike. And with a drivetrain that will always have the perfect gear, hills won’t be intimidating.
This Class 3 e-bike comes with everything a commuter needs, except for panniers.

@ryandaugherty8842 we find we often forget to downshift on e-bikes and if it doesn't have a throttle to help you start, it can be a bit tough to get going if you are stuck in 7th or 8th. Shifting whenever you like is so nice!

@Gary_THR A little bit, that's fair. But we so rarely ride without motor power, and the motor will more than offset the added drag.

Wow R1Up have hit a home run here!! Kudos to their design team for listening to customers and making huge improvements over the old Prodigies - namely adding a suspension fork, more rugged tires, and a Gates belt drive AND Enviolo Hub. No need to look anywhere else!!

I live in hilly area where the hills are 20-22% grade. How will this perform compare to the traditional derailleur version of the Prodigy V2? I am still waiting for you guys to do a video on the best ebikes for steep hills. Some bikes are better setup for steep hill climbs with the chainring being smaller (e.g. 34T) and cassettes being 11-48T. Since Enviolo never discloses how gear compares to the traditional gear setup, I have no way of knowing how it will perform on steep hills.

I wonder if Ride1Up has considered putting a dropper post on any of their bikes? As an older dude who needs all the help that I can get mounting and dismounting my bike, a dropper post has been a real game-changer for me. Getting on and off my bike is the hardest part of my neighborhood rides, and my Cannondale Moterra e-bike with a dropper post, has made riding a bike even a possibility again.

I’m going to say it, it’s perfect, but that’s even more reason to love the Prodigy I. The Prodigy II is too perfect, efficient & synchronous in terms of drivetrain & integration of options. I would like a bit more of a step through frame, a dropper post, and a somewhat larger battery capacity with maybe a 48V or higher system. Then it would be pretty much perfect. Do you think that Ride1Up would ever offer a dropper post on a bike like this, at least the one with the mid drive motor?

For lack of a better term, how's the "throttle response" for this motor / software combo? How quickly does the motor kick in when pedaling starts? Half revolution, quarter revolution, instantly? How quickly does the motor cut back off? It's something that really affects ride quality but few of the reviewers ever mention it.
@ryc2236
@ryc2236 9 ай бұрын
@@canawler1968 I’ll have to test this when I have some time. As it uses a torque sensor it is a measurement of time instead of revolutions. It kicks in and backs off fast enough to not even think about it. Rough estimate, maybe 1/8th of a second. Edit: This is covered at 18:13 in the video.

Thanks for the responses. I'm totally missing it but I just re-watched that section and didn't catch anything about how quickly the motor starts and stops. An 1/8th of a second I'll take as instant. 👍 I've test ridden a Specialized with a Brose / Enviolo combo and that had a noticeable delay so I was curious about this application. I've also heard people mention a delay with another bike I'm considering, the Vvolt Sirius. The Prodigy V2 is using the same motor as the V1?

This looks cool, but I wish that it had a bit longer range to compete with cheaper alternatives like the Mokwheel Basalt or Aventon Level 2. I'm not sold on a bike that ticks all my boxes yet, but this is close. I like this over rear hub bikes because the tires/wheels are normal instead of fat tires or a special branded wheel with the integrated hub motor. How does this bike feel once the battery dies? Can you pedal like normal or does it become immobilized?
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 9 ай бұрын
As you saw in the speed test, you can pedal at decent speeds even without motor help. It'll be a bit more challenging on hills of course (which is true for all e-bikes). Also, remember that the range results were in tour mode. In Eco (a level that gives meanigful assistance) you can get upwards of 90 miles in our experience.

I watched another review where the rider got 85 miles riding eco, which I think is about 15 more than the mfg states so that's great as it seems a lot of bikes get less thannthe max spec in real world conditions. What no one addresses on any ebike review I watched is how many charge cycles before the max starts dropping? My laptop has a 10 hour battery spec but 3 it's later I get 5-6 from it. Does this hold true w ebike batteries?

$2695, 250w motor and 500w battery is where they saved money here. IMO, ugly colorways that blend right in to the city; a red, yellow, blue, or brushed aluminum option would have been nice. Integrated tail light isn't a brake light, missed opportunity. The bike looks small with a 6'-1" rider. I'm 6' and I'd rather have a slightly larger bike. Overall, I think for a few hundred for, like $2995, they could have upped the power, added size and color options, working brake light and maybe even tire options. I'm looking forward to test riding one of these if available next time I'm in San Diego.
