I'm so happy with this bike after the trouble of building it. Just took it around town for 3 hrs and spent the battery. Best time of my life 😊

Awesome I am glad you like it! How was the build process for you?

@BikeRidecom It was fine until I hit the part where I needed a torque wrench. I would've had to buy one, which is expensive, if not for my father-in-law who thankfully provided one. There's an hour long video of a bike mechanic building it which I followed along with and was a great help. Some of the locktite screws had trouble going in straight, especially when mounting the back rack. The front brake pads were also close together, as I guess the separator had fallen out during shipment. I had to carefully pry them apart with a straight slot screw driver. Luckily, no adjustments needed to be made to the drive side pedal gear thing or derailleur. I'm still taking it in to a local bike mechanic in a week to get it onced over. It's so fun to ride though, honestly. Edit: the instructions included were so vague it's like they were written as simple guidelines for someone who's already built 100 of these, not a newcomer. I had to use my best judgment where some of the screws went and not entirely sure I did that right but it's holding together. But yeah, they NEED to update the instructions.

@@Claego Yes often the instructions for e-bikes are vague, show an item that does not match the one on the bike or just do not mention an action to be completed! I am glad the assembly went fairly well for you and you have gotten to get out and enjoy the bike now. Great plan to take it to a mechanic for a complete setup, its a negative about the mail order e-bikes having to assemble it and check it over

Thanks for the video; as of 4 weeks ago when you posted this, the battery was already 750w, not 500w. I am a day 2 owner as of today and am so far enjoying it. I'm on the heavier side and based on the battery stats, I should get about 50mi on a charge. I used level 3 PAS consistently and feel that it's perfect. Average cycling speed was 18mph. My stopping speed was also quicker than what your test showed. I agree that the handlebars are no too comfortable...pretty stiff, but they don't slip on my bike. The seat is less comfortable than what most folks described as well, but these are all personal points. After assembling, my front brake kept rubbing on the rotor but a quick visit to the bike shop yielded a slightly bent rotor, which was instantly straightened out. Overall, a budget bike that doesn't necessarily feel like one when you're riding it. Comfort and distance is what I'm looking for and it's good enough to meet those points. Not sure if this video was recorded a while ago, but it seems that improvements have been made since. Thanks again for the review!

Hi Al thanks for your reply! Its great to hear you are enjoying the bike and that the items mentioned are not negative for you! We did find the bike fun to ride and Ride1Up makes quality bikes so Its great to hear your real-world experience. The motor we had was a 500W nominal Bafang Serial # RM.G040.DC , capable of more than 750W peak output. Ride1Up chooses to highlight a "sustained" output rating, while most brands and motors use the "nominal" output rating. This is why you can see the output on your display at over 750W during use. This should be the same motor you have but it is possible it is different. It's also great to hear that the brakes worked well for you. We found a reasonable result at 20 mph, but at 28 mph, it slid considerably, probably due to tire compound and slick tread. Many things can impact braking performance, including weight and surface compound so it can change dramatically in different situations. Its great to hear you found it performed better then our result!

@@Jovatellem I have had a good experience with the Ride1Up customer service team. We had an issue with a derailleur and hanger and they sent us a new set directly to our location in Canada.

Thanks for the thorough review. However the wheel wobble problem you describe is more likely caused by improper assembly. Wheel wobble is not unique to the 700. If the wheel wobbles, something is loose, it's that simple. I have a Series 500 which I believe uses the same frame and it is rock solid.

Thanks for the reply! We can confirm the stem, bars, fork and axle are all secured properly, and the tires have also been properly seated along the bead of the rim. Typically, a tire seated incorrectly can cause an unbalanced tire, or obviously, a loose part will affect performance. Both are common and easy to correct with direct-to-consumer bikes. Holding the bars with 1 or 2 hands produces no wobble, but on release, it is substantial and prompt. It was shocking to reach up to adjust my jacket and feel the bars go wild! After further inspection, the wobble is produced by the rim being slightly off-true; this is not an assembly item. This slight movement amplifies at speed and travels up through the relatively thin fork stations and steerer tube; when not counterbalanced by the user holding the bars, it produces wobble. This "wobble" has not been reproduced on any of the other 4 Ride1up bikes we have tested, and no other bike in our testing has produced a similar wobble as soon as you release the bars. So, it seemed relevant to record the experience. This may not be a trend with other 700 series and could be limited to our test bike or others with a similar flaw.

I'm in the market looking for a ebike that will hold my weight and long range and speed i weight 300 pounds do u have any suggestion
@BikeRidecom
@BikeRidecom 2 ай бұрын
Many e-bikes will accommodate a rider of 300lb, the 700 series mentioned in this video has a weight limit of 300lb. Take a look at some of the Himiway bikes, such as the Zebra, or Cobra, both are well built, capable of 25-28mph and have 20Ah batteries which will push you for 25-30 miles on max assist Also QuietKat makes some nice bikes such as the Lynx which will be fast, with a 20Ah battery as well

@BikeRidecom
@BikeRidecom 2 ай бұрын
@@ruelbautista9966 None of the e-bikes we review travel faster then 28 mph, as this is the highest speed allowed on the road. It sounds like you are looking for bikes like a Surron or another electric motorcycle. You will need a battery in excess of 30 Ah to achieve that range at high speed. If I come across a bike with those specs I will comment on it!

The video is incorrect, it is a 750 watt sustained motor and peaks at 1140+ watts. We have this bike and Ride1Up ships w/ PAS5=75%. If you go into the advanced menu and set PAS5=100%, you will peak at 1140+ watts when pedaling.

The 700 series we received was fitted with a Bafang motor RM G040.DC bafang-e.com/en/oem-area/components/component/motor/rm-g040350500dc What is your motor serial? It should be written on the unit. It would be interesting to see if this matches or if it is another model.

Hi, the serial # is FZCJ3220301320. My buddy has a 700 series also and confirmed my findings, PAS5=100% peaks the motor at 1140+ watts when pedaling. Let me know if our serial # is different than yours, Ride1Up often refreshes and updates their bikes even w/o stating a model change. love the channel! @@BikeRidecom
