IMHO, the Juiced Ripcurrents and Crosscurrents are for people who tend to be DIYers. To me, my Ripcurrent is an open pallet, allowing me to change and/or upgrade it to make it very much mine. You can really be a part of this bike. Sure, you may be able to find someone to pay to service it for you, but that can be a pain and get quite costly. If you want a bike to use as an appliance, get a Rad Rover. They need little service and give you a nice ride for the money. If you want a friggen killer bike that will blow you (and everyone else) away, get a Juiced'.

Do you plan to post a road test as well? The specs and features can be found on a bunch of websites but there are only two videos I’ve been able to find on KZbin. One of them from the other primary ebike review people suggested it was a bit sluggish on takeoff, but the second video makes it appear super quick. Another unbiased report proving or disproving the sluggishness when starting would be really helpful. I have a hard time believing it’s anything other than jackrabbit quick as it’s the same basic drivetrain s the CrossCurrent S but with an even bigger motor. Nevertheless, rumors like that are easily proven or disproven by intentionally testing a filming it. A lot of us would appreciate that. Great review though. I realize I’ve only bitched about it, but it is very helpful. I ordered one of these a couple of weeks ago after watching the other thorough review. Reviews like these are really the only way we can hope to make informed decisions. Thanks!

Have had my 22 model step thru for about three weeks now, and just this morning passed 100 miles. It has taken a little getting used to because I have not ridden a bicycle for almost sixty years now. After some minor adjusting and tweaking, I can tell that this bike is probably going to last me for a long time. For me this was money well spent.

Why spend an entire video covering features we can easily read about? Yes, you are very thorough, but the strength of video is to show things in action; to see things that aren't in the instructions and specs...like a test ride. You can also gather your own data from your own tests, which will either agree or be at odds with what the maker publishes/claims.

It looks like the base model RipCurrent with 13 ah battery now starts at $1,999, not $1,699. If you get the Model S it comes with a 19.2 ah battery and costs $700 more. The S model comes with a rack; the basic model doesn't. You get about 30 more miles of range with the S model and its suspension has a lockout (the base model doesn't have that). Other than that, I think they're identical.

As the other commenter said, when mine needs replaced I will bet it repacked with new batteries. The cost is so high because it is 52V 19.5Ah which currently aren't as common but with everything, prices drop. Right now the 48V low Ah batteries are what is now cheap. There are places that will repack them. I figure by the time I need a new battery it will be cheaper to repack or I will have a new eBike with much better bike technology. We recently got 2 RipCurrent S ebikes and love them. We have regular mtn bikes & motorcycles and still have lots of fun on the eBike.

That is another issue that makes it a no sale for me. You will have to buy another battery after two or three years. It is inevitable. For that price, you may consider buying the latest bike on the market instead of a new battery. Although, no one will buy a used bike if they have to put $1200 into it.

This bike is illegal in CA: California’s Electric Bike Laws by el Cyclery. Posted on November 30, 2015 California’s new electric bicycle law divides electric bikes into three legally-defined category types based on the e-bike’s top speed and whether it has a throttle. AB1096: Electric Bicycles The law defines electric bicycles as those with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts. It also creates three classes of electric bicycles based on their motor speed and level of electric assist. • Class 1 e-bike, or low-speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle, is equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling and that stops providing assistance when the bicycle reaches 20 mph. • Class 2 e-bike, or low-speed throttle-assisted electric bicycle, is equipped with a motor that can exclusively propel the bicycle and that cannot provide assistance when the bike reaches 20 mph. • Class 3 e-bike, or speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle, is equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling and stops providing assistance when the bicycle reaches 28 mph. Operators of Class 3 e-bikes must be 16 or older and wear a helmet. Class 3 e-bikes are prohibited from paths, lanes and trails unless specifically authorized by a local ordinance. The bill prohibits tampering with or modifying electric bicycles to change their speed capability unless the classification label also is changed. E-bike operators do not need a driver’s license, registration or license plate to ride them, though they do need to abide by existing traffic laws. See the full text of California Bill AB 1096

Has anyone had experience riding this bike in the snow?
@paulhester80866 жыл бұрын
Not with the Rad. Only the very rare 2WD Fat E-bikes make a serious difference in the snow. Similar with mud, sand, ICE, etc. I can't wait for when 2WD(AWD) fat bikes are more the norm. You can also put studs in certain fat tires. That can help, mostly in drive wheels. 500W in the rear, 250 in front seems the logical choice if staying legal, but all I see out there is 350 rear and 250 front. Nice that the drives are selectable, though. No spinning "donuts" with 350W, though...but then that's just a bonus and not the real intent of these vehicles, is it? ANY bicycle will slip out in slick conditions no matter what you buy or do, but 2WD FatBikes are the fun future imho.

Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
