Except Wired does not offer a torque sensor. They told me they will not be adding one. Too bad because it would be the ultimate, fat tire, full size, e-bike
@chow-chihuang4903 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for informing us of the UL certification on the battery. It’s important to know these days with cities, apartments and HOAs requiring it. Amazing range for both lowest and highest assist settings. What is unique about Juiced e-bikes with their torque sensor is you can switch the bike between torque sensor and cadence sensor modes from the display. I’d usually keep it in torque sensor mode, except when towing a heavy trailer or my knee acts up. The included headlight is also significantly brighter than most. To second another person, I wish they offered a model with something smaller than the 4in on the RipCurrent, but wider than the 1.75in tires on the CrossCurrent model. I like tires from 2-2.6in for riding on rough pavement through packed dirt or gravel. It soaks up enough bumps while still feeling nimble.

Can you overlay a ranking chart during “range test” and “hill test” how the bikes compare? It would be very helpful. Thanks for the reviews!
@kevinnashskitchen3517 Жыл бұрын
Good idea. Fastest to slowest, shortest to longest. But they have so many it can't show 40 bikes at a time maybe.
@ElectricBikeReport Жыл бұрын
We used to show some comparisons when the number of bikes we'd tested was smaller, but we've tested hundreds at this point so it is actually nearly impossible to display the data in a helpful way. Depending on the test we try to speak to the current average at time of testing, or in the case of range compared to expected outcome based on certain factors. Thanks for the suggestion though. If we can ever find a good way to display the comparisons, we'd happily add that in!

Got the bike and it is a HUGE upgrade from the Lectric XP 2.0. The ride is cushier, the torque sensor = smoother operation, the power is much higher, the battery is more than twice the size so you can go on longer trips. Need to figure out a good rack; I don't want their wood crates. I don't think they would survive a winter where I live.

I ride in race mode most of the time. I can do almost 30mph up pretty steep hills and 35 on flat trails. There is also a controller upgrade that does 30mph on throttle only. Its a fun bike to ride for sure.
@lukewright2197 Жыл бұрын
where can i do that controller upgrade? do you have a tutorial?
@LetsgoCommanders20245 ай бұрын
Just upgraded to the off-road kit, it's in stock on the Juiced website. The upgraded controller is 40 Amp 2000 watts 100 nm torque. Stock controller 25 Amp 1300 watts 90 nm torque. You can feel a big difference in acceleration and hill climbing. Takes about an hour to install but worth it.

@@LetsgoCommanders2024 I have this bike and thats very cool but how does that affect the range you get?
@LetsgoCommanders20242 ай бұрын
@Tinman710 The range is reduced if I had to guess around 10-20 percent, depending on how much you use the throttle. You get a better brake light also with the upgrade.
@Tinman7102 ай бұрын
@@LetsgoCommanders2024 no fucking way. I got 70 miles using eco, 1 and 2 with minimal throttle use. If I was going 30 mph on throttle only I think that range would be reduced by AT LEAST half. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I love my 2018 upgraded 750w RCS. I will say the positives of this bike definitely outweigh the negatives (all bikes have both imho). A few RCS minor things which I don't hear much about are the latency in the ECU- sometimes the ECU doesn't stop applying assist right when I do, and over bumps that can be very tricky. I've even hit some bumps that caused my motor to engage without me pedaling a few times, which is a bit scary. Humans adjust in a micro second for road conditions, but the ECU often doesn't work that fast due to its latency. This probably could have been avoided with higher speed chips, but I'm no eee-lectrical engineer. Another thing I don't hear much about and I'm not sure if it still exists; when I got my RCS in 2018, it had a feature called TAB (Throttle Assist Boost) which essentially gave you FULL power, regardless of your assist setting, just as you began pedaling. This function only would engage if you hammered the throttle. This feature was designed to get you through a busy intersection that you're sitting at faster than the cars could go from a standstill. It gave you full torque immediately out the gate from the motor. It was a nice feature, but with my upgraded Juiced ECU and color display, I can't tell if that feature still functions. In fact, when I replaced my matrix LCD to the new color display, my bike suddenly became a LOT faster in every assist level, so I'm still trying to determine if that feature still works or not. I hope I don't melt my wiring as I am pushing my RCS harder than ever.

Race mode. You have to go in the settings to enable it and get the most out of that 1000 watt motor! Should do 31-32 MPH in that mode.

Indeed fat tire = huge rolling resistance and they are battery eaters. Hence the boat anchor battery. A no go for me.

You guys always do such good reviews! Honestly, the Wired Freedom (60v, 20ah battery, 40 amp controller and dual-suspension) makes the Ripcurrent S look like it's poorer cousin. I was seriously looking at the Ripcurrent S because the price was a a couple hundred dollars cheaper, but I'm glad I spent a little more and got a more powerful drivetrain and better-branded components overall with Wired. I think the lack of an integrated taillight in the Ripcurrent hurts the safety factor a bit, but I can appreciate that they gave this model a good geartrain and dual mode pedal sensors.

Max speed, acceleration, and climb could have all gotten better results if you had turned on R mode. S mode is one notch below R mode, it can be unlocked in the menu (Juiced has a video showing how on KZbin somewhere). I'd like to see you guys redo all these tests again with R mode turned on and with the 35A controller upgrade installed. I'm not surprised the 1000w perfromance seemed kinda meh with the 25A controller still installed.

So many bikes in this catagory.. I guess its a matter of prefrence. Handlebars look nice. Forks seem good. 52V is a plus. I feel they could have bumped up the controller to 30 amp and gave it more punch in the mid and top speed. Example, Kepler has the same rated motor but is much faster to 20 mph and goes over 35 mph in PAS 5. So why not make a Rip Current S Extreme bike for Adults off road and private property? Wink-Wink. Good job on the video guys 👍

AR Kepler is an amazing and powerful bike. However, wish it had a torque sensor like the Juiced so that the motor would be more efficient and longer battery life + range. Hopefully, next gen Kepler.
@kevinnashskitchen3517 Жыл бұрын
@@bunit8 I think 30 with throttle only is fine. 35-40 might be something only 10% of us thrill seekers would care about. But if I could sell 10% more bikes by having a class 4 bike in 2 frame models I think I would go for it. Just take consent forms or signatures from those people letting them know it's illegal for use on public streets. They have been informed.

@@bunit8 sell aftermarket controllers and have 35-40 amp plug and play controllers replacing the 22-28 amp junk that comes with it. Charge $200 for the "Off Road" controller. I'll pay $200 for 10 mph more speed. Just have the Bike stock with a few heavy duty wires needed already on it.

Tbh I love this bike. Only weird thing is that the pedal assist kicks in almost instantly, which is great but it doesn’t turn off right away when you stop pedaling. Any advice on how to fix or is this normal.

Your correct. The sensors keep the motor going for a short time after you stop pedaling. You can tap your brake handle to kill the assist at any point.
