This video saved a trip to the repair shop for me. I have a five year old Genze. The company folded up almost 2 years ago. What to do? I recently had the original battery rebuilt. Had power to the LCD, but bicycle no go. After watching this video, I checked the motor shut off, which looked a lot like the one pictured, under the hand brake. Lo and behold it had come a bit loose and was shifted sideways maybe a quarter of an inch. I put it back where it belonged, tightened the screw and voila! I'm back in business. Thanks much!

You probably won't read this comment. But I can't thank you enough for this video. I have an ebike kit that hasn't work for a while. I have been trying different methods, spending lots of money to try and sort it out, brought the wrong wire connectors etc. I got to a point where I almost gave up. But when you mentioned the brake lever being ever so slightly pulled, I check mine and where you put the cable, that was stopping it from being fully closed. I can't believe after all that money and that was the bloody issue.

Well done sams bike shop, my ebike wouldn't power up,i watched cort and sam on KZbin and learned my bike had trouble with the battery not connecting with my controller.as my ebike is a folding bike I think there is a problem with the open close folding of the bike this could be a problem with folding bikes, don't fold up your bike too much.I'm from England and I learn a lot from sam and cort.

Yes. Most bike shops in my area dont even want to touch my e-bike. I live 2½ hours from NYC and that's the nearest e-bike shop. So I just bought a new bike. I'm gonna look it over after this video and see if it's a simple wiring. Thanks for tips

This answered my question, I ordered an ebike kit and the brake sensor has levers I can’t use because my Shimano brakes are intergraded into the shifters. Also the PAS needs to be installed by taking off the pedal. I’m going to leave the PAS and the Brake Assist off. Just not connect them.

Best Video for troubleshooting E-bikes. I just got mine 3 days ago and tonight was the first time where I had to fold it up and transport it. After taking it out the bike wasn't working. I tried everything from checking the wires multiple times to checking the fuses, the battery...etc. I was running out of options and frustrated. Hi Thanks! Great vid! I have some problems with the e-bike that it doesn not switch on at all. I checked the battery and two of them as I have., It is the same problem with both of the batteries. It is all switched off. The controller can not start it up. The battery from the pins are not leaving any voltage (both of them). My Q is there a fuse inside like always or not? I have a power check with diods this is having full power and I can also charge it with no problem. I changed to different controllers they are all used but some would work., Inside that controller is a battery. Can that give me problems starting up like it would be like on/off pushbutton function?

Thank you, Thank You Thank YOU, I just crashed my Sondor's today and bent the front fork forcing the front wheel into the frame. The front tire was pushed so far back I couldn't steer at all. I was able to turn the handle bar around in reverse and steer but I had to disconnect the front brake at the handle bars to make a 190 degree turn of the handle bars. By doing so I didn't realize until I watch this video that I cause the Brake lever to disconnect the Brake Inhibitor Switch and there for caused the motor not to work. It did work for about 100 feet but then stopped. Because I bent the forks the tire was rubbing and causing what felt like breaking, which I thought I might have damaged the motor because of over heating. That wasn't the case, once I fixed the Brake Lever everything works fine. Everything except the front Fork, it will need to be replaced. Thank you for making these very informative video's.

Thank you very much for this video. The prongs weren't lining up right on mine. I went to a bike shop and they told me I needed a new battery and tried to charge me $580 for it. I cussed them out and "threw franks" all over the place. I seen this video and came up with an idea, I put some aluminum that I got off a take out food plate and surrounded the prongs with it to complete the charge. Now the bike works like new, and I got it off of Facebook marketplace for $150 because the original owner didn't know how to diagnose the problem lol. Now I got a great ebike for $150. I feel like going back to the bike shop, showing them how I fixed it without purchasing a new battery, and cuss them out some more, but I will leave it alone and be happy that I got a bike that was dirt cheap to work.

I think you solved my problem. Now, I just need to test the theory. I noticed my brake light kept coming on or staying on after use. At the same time my motor which is on both wheels keeps stopping, It feels very intermittent. One safety thing - we do not allow anyone to wear flip flops or open toe shoes in our shop. just not safe!

i received a new battery which was too big and the bike shop had to move the thing the battery plugs into and now when i switch it on the lcd will light up and go off but generally if i switch the battery off and on again it will light up and its powered up sometimes i have to do this multiple times before it powers up. Can you leave an e bike plugged in and charging after it is charged? We had 2 Jamis e bikes with the Hyena e system and the assist kept shutting off. They replaced the controller where the battery slides in and the crank sensor and both still had problems with the assist. Also both chargers quit during the first year.Maybe since we left them plugged it all the time it was frying something (the dealer we bought them from told us it was okay to leave them plugged in all the time)

Hi, I have a 72 volt ebike. I fixed my rear flat last month and it hasn't run right since. If I stop, it won't go again until I unplug the controller from the battery and RE-PLUG it back in. I've cleaned and checked all my connections. I thought it might have been my regen handle but my brakes work great. I'm going to check the 'pony wire' connection, bc that is what I disconnected to get my back wheel off to fix the tire. My voltage was also dropping to 56ish also, and it NEVER went below 66.6 on the CA. A SHORT somewhere?

It's now Sept. 8, 2021. I've replaced my Phaserunner controller, now a NEW 72 volt, 19.2ah battery! $1,400.00 later......Still having problems. I've narrowed it down to my right brake inhibitor lever, bc every time I brake the bike won't run until I turn battery OFF, then back on. It's late, but tomorrow I am going to DISCONNECT that ebrake connector (rear) and try the bike. Thanx Sam! BTW, because I don't have a bike stand, I set the bike on the floor upside down, to work on it, and I may have damaged my lever that way? With the rear hub motor, and triangle battery, there is much more WEIGHT on the bike! Live and...LEARN!

Hi, I just wired my ebike kit, following the manufacturers instructions, and as soon as you turn the throttle key on, it reads 51V and the wheel starts spinning at full speed. Crank the throttle and it comes to a stop and reverses at full speed, not good! Any clues?

It’s surprising that the experienced e-bike shop is not describing one common electrical problem, the LCD display connected to the power button pad got bad. Which problem can be nailed down by simply plugging the battery and see whether they can be charged regardless of the e- bike not powering up. If the battery is charging then the faulty is the display which can be easy replaced and the new kit of display cabled to the power switch on/off will be connected instead.

Thanks for this video! I have a Nakto ebike mountain bike model and the bottom bracket axle is bent. I have taken it into several shops and they aren't able to replace it because it is an uncommon size. It is a square taper and the measurements appear to be about 80x 155. Is there a standard size that is close to that and do you know where I could get a replacement part?

old vid I know but I've been looking for advice for 2 years now. I got an Ancheer folding ebike. It's a huge mobility help/ aid to my independance since I'm disabled. Well, something has always been up with the gears. it's a rear wheel motor, and the bike chain often gets damaged by the gears. I took the chain off and just ran it a couple times on pure electric power, and now the motor makes a grinding sound. There are no ebike shops up here in my part of pennsylvania. no one wants to work on it due to lack of knowledge about ebikes. i want to fix my bike and keep riding. any advice? I'm going stir crazy all holed up in the house/around my block. I want to get out into town again.

@Nomore Illegals please well, the bike doesn't go as fast any more. It sounds kind of like the hub motor is straining to move the wheel. I've always had issues trying to peddle it because the chain and gears just wouldn't move. Eventually I did manage to get it to foot peddle as a bike should. But eventually that got mucked up again.

@@WolfGirlCasey You have a nut on each side of the wheel that holds the wheel to the frame. But on the inside of the frame bracket there are also several nuts that must not be tightly screwed onto the shaft. But not too hard. Because then the wheel becomes difficult to move around. And if they are a little too loose, the wheel will feel as if it is loose on the bike, but it is that the hub can move slightly on the shaft. So it's a fine-tuning job.

I have an Ancheer MT3 that worked for about three weeks and shorted out after I took the battery off and went inside while it was left in a torrential rainstorm. I think the problem is somewhere either in motor controller or the hub because the battery and LED display seem fine. Ancheer said they would pay for a repair shop to track the problem down but I cannot find a bike shop in the area that will touch it. I live in the Western NY area near Buffalo and still cant find a shop that will look at it. Any ideas?

The problem my bike shop said is that my Shimano crank is tapered and the PAS takes up room so that my crank will not slide back on all the way, I can tighten the bolt but the crank is not seated all the way and the bike shop said it will eventually wear out the crank arm since it is not tightly seated. Is there a PAS system that will work in this case?

Bro , i have 48v 500w ebike , After a rainy day my ebike speed cut off on its own , throttle sometimes dont work but today i just turn on the key and after some seconds my bike speeds up on its own crushing with wall , i was lucky that this happen inside my garden and not in street trafic . A simple error by a bike shop which turned out to be a disaster for me: Cyrusher XF-900 Rear Hub Motor; they placed the 'tab washer' on the wrong side of the dropout (disc brake rotor side) and the rear wheel eventually came off when I attempted to move. If this happened when I was already moving the outcome could have been disastrous. Both tab washers need to be on the inside of the dropout with the tabs both pointing away from the bike.

Can you give me your impression of a fault in my lombardo modeno 250. There is no battery problem. The bike starts off strong when suddenly the motor power just STOPS and the display goes dead. The STOP first occurred in POWER LEVEL THREE. A few minutes later the same would happen in POWER LEVEL TWO, Less than a minute later it would die in POWER LEVEL ONE. The entire bike was dead. So I have an issue with my motor when I let off the speed control. The motor has drag when I am rolling down hill if I am on level ground it's slows down. The first 50 miles was good but I am at 100miles now. Any thoughts

hello. my nakto camel 250w 36v bike has a good battery 41 volts as shown on ohm meter, and shows full charge on throttle lights. once i go to ride it will start to run down quickly. then it will cut out. once i turn the key off and back on it does fine but then will cut out again. could it be a bad battery but still read 41 volts? or coud it be another issue? the bike is 2019 and hasnt been rode much, but also was not charged regularly as it should have been. thanks for any help. i just bought a pair of these bikes from elderly couple on marketplace. whats weird is that they are both the same model but have different battery pack sizes. one bike is older than the other. both bikes read 41 volts and the other bike does fine, but the older bike (2019)model is the one with issue. im new to ebikes and i know nothing about them. very sad that i have trouble before i can enjoy the bikes

my prob is I just bought a new battery 52 volts, charged it up I get power on my analyst but seems like my hub motor is running rough and I'm at like half power as far as speed goes. Any help?

I purchased a new Aventon Level E Bike in Mar 2022, it has the cheap zoom fork, after about 2 weeks the front fork makes a clunk sound when going over some bumps and it's pissing me off, it does not do this when it's locked out though, does anyone know what the issue is? Or even an upgrade fork the would fit this bike? Thanks John

Hello I changed my ebike rear n front Tyre from local cycle mart, but Now on the controller 3 number LED is continuously blinking also I am not getting pedal assist at all. Can you tell me where the problem is. Bcz the cycle mechanic only just disconnected the cable n removed the two bolts on either side changed the damaged Tyre and re fixed it.

Hello Court.. I have questions about testing the battery with a multimeter.. I have a 52v battery (fully charged with the Cycle Satiator reading of 57v) . I took the shark pack off and touched the bottom 4 receiving contacts and the multimeter reads 53v.. If I probe the XLR charge port, it reads next to zero volts. and the discharge +/- cable reads at 30. Could there be a loss in the wiring from the shark cradle to the connector on the mid-drive motor. Is this normal to have a 4-5volt drop in the line and no voltage reading on the XLR charge port..? Common sense says a fully charged battery 58.8v will read 58.8v on the bottom, at the charge port and the discharge cable... they don't.. Ideas..?

Hi there, I was riding back from work on my 48v 1000w front hub motor with a 48v 13ah battery. All has been good the past 3 months but just now. The wheel just seized up and lost power. The battery and controller are still working with good voltages etc. The wheel was very hard to turn. "Like a stiff bearing with grit in it" I pulled all the wires out and left for 5 mins. Put back together and all is fine.... what the he'll happened and do i need to replace something. Many thanks

had something similar, the 3 phase motor connector had a slight short, 2 of the wires actually crossed very slightly. When you disconnected and reconnected you probably fixed it wo knowing.

Hi. Thanks for the video. It is very informative. We purchased a used Lee Lacocca 36V Ebike recently. There is an issue with the battery. There are 6 6V batteries connected in series. The batteries test fine. We’re able to charge the battery pack fully. The light on it is green. When we place it on the bike, it turns on and still shows green and the engine starts fine. However, when the throttle is pressed for 5 seconds or so, the light switches to red. We tried it by leaving the charger connected, lifted the bike and pressed the throttle. While connected to the charger, it did not show a problem. Can you please help us understand the issue. Thanks

I was wondering if you can help me with my ebike. It's a snugger from ridel. I recently had a crash with it, I manage to change the motor and bypassed the PAS(I pretty much have it disconnected) becuase of the Error 30. I mange to get rid of the Error 30 but now the motor won't go with the throttle. I know the throttle works because I used it on a different bike and it works fine. The walk assist works perfectly but now my issue is the motor won't run when I press the throttle. I'm pretty sure the electrical side of the bike is perfect and works. Would it a mechanical issue or something? Any ideas would help me out so much! thank you!!!

@5:16 those fancy senors being wired from the front side/bottom of the frame make perfect poathways for the ingress of moisture and dirt. To the point where it can cause the bike to fail completely or act in an erratic way switching from one setting to another and or turning the bike on and off. driving the user homicidal by the time they cut the wires to the sensor which kills any thought of having pedal assist but throttle work fine.

Hello, can you tell me what error code 36 means? The bike makes a weird noise from the motor then it cuts on and off repeatedly. I’m lost. This is a new bike with only 45 miles on it. The mileage was put on over the past month. Please help 😬

Hello Sam! I ve have a problem ? Maybe you can help me, my bike have a front hub 8Fun motor and have been running in 11 year`s now with no problem. But now I can ride about 300 meter`s and then the Power disappeaar? I can cut off the battery (36volt) and then It start`s up again, and do the same, Problem I am living in Denmark, and have asked the mechanic`s in my hometown-They just say they dont Know....
