Have had the E Fat Azteca trike for 3 months now and have driven it 300 miles so far. Its amazing, fun and safe, i ride it in my sub division, a complete cycle is 9.8 miles. I have also driven it out on the streets in the bike lanes and its a little more bumpy but still a great ride. Had my first flat and had to remove the rear wheel, if you have a socket set and a star screw driver set it was moderately easy to remove. Needed a part for the bike, called customer service and the lady I talked to was so helpful I couldn't get over it. I had the part mailed to me within a week. This Azteca is not cheap but is well worth the money. I'm planning on purchasing another one this summer for my wife.

Big thumbs up for interviewing customers and hearing their actual experience and expectations. Would be nice if you contact them in 3 months or 1/2 a year and hear from them - are they satisfied with their e-bike choice, what would they change, how would they improve their cycling experience. A kind of feedback manufacturers should be glad watching ;)

The 3rd-person video with Casey was very enlightening, Court! It's interesting to note the 21 speeds did not really impress you, but it was one of the first things to "pop" into Karen's mind when asked for her thoughts on the trike. Great review! Thanks!

Before you even mentioned the spinout issue , thats the first thing came to mind when I saw the electric motor attached to the front wheel. reminds of the tricycle days when I was a kid , I used to spinouts forever lol. but it certainly has its uses , where I live they have electric trips but mainly 2 wheels up front and one in the back and it looks a lot more stable . again mainly aimed at the elderly or the disabled person with balance issues .
@ElectricBikeReview6 жыл бұрын
Did you used to have a "big wheel" when you were little? I loved those things... lots of sliding and fun, you could stand on the rear axle and kick or sit down and pedal. There's an adult stunt trike called the "high roller" that is similar, have you seen this? www.highrollerusa.com/
@supernova19766 жыл бұрын
ElectricBikeReview.com yes Big wheel 😁 and standing was alot of fun and drifting on smooth surface was another super fun thing to do . Yes I have seen the adult version , even better there are drift specific with a magic pie electric motor so you can drift for longer 😊

Where can I find one with 2 wheels in front?
@johnconnersmithllc60956 жыл бұрын
I put the motor from my motorcycle that I wrecked in mine to increase my speed. The motor weighed a lot more than I thought. The first ride I had a cop try to pull me over. I hit it on the throttle and left him in my dust. As I turned back to taunt him I hit the gas, I went into a Slide with the rear tires spinning at 85mph.the torque of the gsxr600 twisted the frame into a pretzel and I was looking up from under the frame as the rear wheels continued forward running over me breaking my leg in two.

Hi Court.. as you can guess, I prefer the Tadpole recumbent trikes over the Delta trikes.. Having 2 wheels in front with the Tadpoles are far less likely to flip over on sharp turns. It is good for riders of these Delta trikes to be aware of needing to slow down considerably before attempting a turn. Another great review my friend.. Hope to see you in PDX on June 23rd for the ride. Hope all is going well.. :)
@1122truman6 жыл бұрын
Rob K most tad poles are difficult to get in and out of unless your in fair shape.
@1122truman6 жыл бұрын
Rob K with front wheel drive you could run less psi in tire's or put a rack in the front with some weight in the basket to get more traction.
@rdkuless6 жыл бұрын
That is true.. But, with proper techique (scooting up to the front edge of the seat and placing your heals as far back AND with the help of assistive handles (mount on the stems and look like a cane) . the tadpole can be safer to get in and out and it is really difficult to roll a tadpole.
@ahaveland6 жыл бұрын
Rollability depends on where the centre of mass is - if it's low and over the axle then either configuration will be stable, and tadpoles tend to have low seats because there's no central steering column. If you have more mass over the axle, then accelerating will transfer more traction to the back wheel on a tadpole, or reduce traction on a delta, as we see in the video. On braking the reverse is true as the weight shifts forward. Would be nice to have a configuration that has the benefits of both.
@girlmusician244 жыл бұрын
For 3 grand , I would want a parking break and rear suspensions in addition to making the trike foldable. Is that too much to ask for? If I’m going to pay good money for something that I am going to depend on for transportability , I want all the creature comforts I can get for $3k.
@Mandurath6 жыл бұрын
That is a really nice looking trike design. Its seat positioning was well thought out. Of course it needs a parking brake and rear fenders imo. The only design change/s I'd consider is raising the rear derailleur and gears and using the drive chain to go back down to the axle. Looks like there is room and it would give a couple more inches of ground clearance. Wonder how much extra weight and cost it it would be to have shocks/springs on it as well.
@ElectricBikeReview6 жыл бұрын
Good point, I like the idea of raising the derailleur but see most trikes with it positioned low like this, it must just complicate the design a lot and add to the cost. This thing isn't cheap to begin with, maybe they expect that most owners will stay on flat or relatively easy off-road terrain and it won't be an issue? Derailleurs are usually designed to spring back without getting damaged, but strikes are always worth avoiding if you can...
@Mandurath6 жыл бұрын
Yup. My main reason for thinking it would be easy (or easier anyway) for them is at 5:19. That assemblies bracket looks to be bolted on. And it also looks like there is a good amount of space above it and under the battery to adjust. So maybe a new bracket could be the only change needed.

It looks like a pretty cool trike. I've driven one a electric tric before. I remember almost flipping it a few time while making turns. A four wheeler would be cool for old people
@ElectricBikeReview6 жыл бұрын
Now that's a cool idea! I haven't seen any purpose-made four wheel electric bikes, just some custom center-pivoting four wheel cargo trike conversions... and they were so heavy. Maybe a company will come out with something just like this in the coming years, I'd love to see it :D
@niki1234896 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the center of gravity of this trikes is pretty high. I think that for more stability they should make the position of the person a little lower and the distance between the back wheels a bigger. Also if they make the front wheel bigger than the back wheels the turning radius wouldn't be so sharp.
@nyrubin6 жыл бұрын
niki123489 very true didn't even think of that. A 4 wheeler would probably be the same while turning. Unless the tires bend at a angle to compensate.
@dabutler446 жыл бұрын
The Tadpole trikes are much more stable, especially when cornering.. Much lower center of gravity as well.

Court, still on my gasser, after my rad wagon was stolen. However, im comming into better circumstances and am wanting to get back into an ebike as my daily commuter. Gonna be doing about 30 miles a day minimum and usually more. That being said, i want to do a mid drive. I love rad and will probably replace the wagon for hauling and shorter trips. Im looking for reccomendations. Reqs: Mid drive Throttle is a must Would like a bike capable of higher speed, in the 28+ mph Not really wanting a fat bike but plus sized tires wouldnt be out. No single speed stuff Would like something with an internal gear hub but a cassette is acceptable. Something not super heavy. Easy enough to put on a rack on the front of a bus if needed. Big battery. Would like perhaps to be able to make the round trip without charging even if i have to pedal a lot. Integrated headlight and tail light if possible. Commuter equipped or able to be equipped with rack and fenders. Dont need bottle cage bosses, but im sure the one you reccomend will have at least one set. Ha ha. Would like disc brakes and nothing to exotic in wheel size. Think having to stop at wal mart or similar for tubes. Front suspension would be nice, but full rigid would be fine. Metal. No carbon fiber. Im heavy. Now heres the rub, im looking to be in the 1500 to 2500 range in price. If the base bike is good, Motor and battery capacity trump included accessories. So take your time. See what you reccomend.

Nice looking frame but they should go for a rear motor like mid-drive. This is so insufficient.

I feel ya, probably comes down to price and design complexity, like how only the right wheel is powered by pedaling and stopping, the left rear wheel just spins, so the entire rear end would need to be rebuilt to use a mid-motor and it's just easier to soft-convert an existing pedal powered tricycle to have a hub motor and become "electric" maybe we will see more fancy stuff when the ebike industry grows in the coming years and stuff like this isn't considered so niche

Very cool, but this is old school thinking... It has been proven that a reverse trike is more congruent to the human form. Today's most simplistic technology is to camber the front wheels to marry one another. The rear wheel drive would displace more power to weight ratio. I would say that it's pricey for old school production.

I'd really like to see a swing arm in the back , Rear drive and actual front suspension fork . I'm disabled and I'll prob build my own as Seemingly no one is building things w a recumbent suspension seat . This bike w No suspension looks nice for Sidewalk riding but NO NO NO for trail ; it would tear me up and Cripple me Back into my wheelchair rather than a cane . Excellent start at Entry Level No doubt 🤓👍 I want something I can trail ride ; with enduro functionality . If anyone can deliver this for about the Price of a Tao racing 249cc enduro Motorcycle for $1,350 bucks then they are In Business at $2,700 . My advice Stay under 3 Grand Note : I want a Rear rack , a rear hitch and POWER . I'm open to sharing ideas . I'm into making a Product for Disabled riders to regain Mobility. The Saddle seats also still are Uncomfortable for me ; I gave away my Last New Bike as it killed my rear and Back ; the Kid that got it is Set for Years ..it even had lighting and Flashers ; Naturally I gave him a Sweet helmet to boot . Years ago ; like 30 I gave my Custom skateboard away too to a Kid who couldn't afford w all the safety gear from Half Pipe fun to include Prepaid membership pass to local indoor Ramp . His Father was extremely pleased ; all I asked for was he Always wear his helmet and Not get too crazy to avoid breaking ankles or wrists like I had 😂 I was a Crazy Youngster . Ride on Bruth3rs 🤓👍👊🖖✌
