Vedui can you help me with answers to a couple of questions? One is about the blade traps the other about ammo choice. You did a video on a demolisher base where you set the blade traps at a height that only hit the domolishers. I can’t seem to replicate this so I either set them higher and miss everything or lower and hit everything (except dogs and crawlers obviously). The other question is about HP ammo specifically but ammo in general and whether there is sufficient benefit in using the different ammos. I do craft the AP ammo later in game and spec into penetrator.

What I would like to see is a recommended way of mixing those electric fences with other traps, when I want to set up a perimeter around my base. Do I just put a barbed fence with an electric fence behind or under it to completely stop them? And are those blade traps good for firing away from the base instead of just the corridors? I'm on day 315, I have 2 corridors one block wide separated by a wall in middle and use 3 vertical blade traps each side (6 total) and steel vault hatch at end to keep em from running through. I also added 6 electric fences criss crossing through both hallways. Just in case, 2 smg turrets if they break through. So far about 5 or 6 demos show up, np, m60 w usual mods and with normal 556. We play on server w 5 others, so hordes can get big, still np.

Sounds very good! Similar to some of the corridors I make. Wall in the middle with traps covering them works well, I do tend to place them horizontally, but vertical works very well too (if hitboxes can be, or at least used to be a bit weird at times). :)
@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
The good thing is, if you go heavy int you can get better barter and see TONS of the turrets and other such supplies appear in the secret stash. Ive had generators and smg turrets before the day 7 horde by getting better barter. Also as an additional tip for the darts, placing them so they fire straight down a long corridor is a great way to murder lots of zombies without wasted ammo. That way instead of a narrow single block width of killing space, they fire, I think, up to 11 blocks away which is insane. A few electric fences across the killing corridor to hold them up, and some pressure plates to trigger them and you have a zombie mass murder setup. Place it right and you can reach the dart traps to reload them from the safety of your bunker spot. Or, to avoid hitting demo triggers, set it up so it fires into their backs as they run towards you. (Im not sure if dart traps will trigger demos.) How is this for an idea for a electric trap base? Make a staple shaped raised base with the stairs on one short leg and your hold out area on the other. They climb up the stairs getting nice and spaced out, reach the catwalk portion and hit the trigger plates and electric fences, getting darted in the back as they slowly stagger forwards. Place two sledge turrets next to some raised blocks so they can knock off any zombies that make it to the end of the long catwalk and force them to run back to the start. Your pillbox has a direct line of sight to the steps letting you take pot shots at the zombies. I was thinking of placing a few smg turrets in there to gun them down as they hop the stairs but I didnt think of demo triggers. Would setting the turrets up like the sledge turrets so they shoot the side of the zombies away from the trigger work as well? If so, its a great way to mow down zombies and keep them taking damage constantly. If not, then you might have to rely on your own gunning skills to take them out safely.
@Vedui423 жыл бұрын
Yes! That's def helpful, and even early on if you find 2 electric fences, and 1-2 dart traps you can hold off the zombies with ease! Or a blade trap! Dart traps actually fire very far, just they drop 1 elevation after some 25-30 I believe it used to be :)

A few times I made a sea of spikes. Filled up every space with them all the way out to where the zombies would spawn in on horde night. They'd still make a path to you. Cost a fortune in resources to fix it. Used to make a long wall and walk back and forth on it to get them to walk over spikes.
@kathrynck4 жыл бұрын
I noticed that before my very first horde night, just from a wandering horde. Make a path which funnels them into a much smaller number of spike traps ;-) But ultimately a horde will get through spikes. it just buys you some time and thins them out some. electric fences work much better, especially if you're funneling them, and even better if the repairable end is within reach from a safe spot in your base.
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
Yes! Spikes do work, but it's so tedious to fix, and takes so long. It's why I tend to only do them early on, a couple of rows, as later on radiated just wade through them and cops/demos trash them handily.

I like fighting hordes in a tower with a stairwell. so instead of posting my turrets on my walls facing outwards, I place them on my walls facing inward looking at the entrances of my tower, keeping all the doors of the walls in the cardinal directions open. That way even with demolishers the turrets shoot them in the back as they're running into my clock tower of traps.
@kathrynck4 жыл бұрын
That works pretty good. Although rare, it can cause a detonation though if the demolisher falls down, and gets up crooked. It's "pretty safe" but make sure the base pathing doesn't become non functional if one does detonate ;-) I bias turrets slightly to the left size of the back of the zombie path, so that it's least likely to hit the button (which is on the front right of a demo) if they turn a bit for some reason. I do similar with the junk turrets, but make a corridor where they have to travel away from me, to come around and get to me. This way both my handheld guns and the junkie has a pretty easy time targeting the safe part of demo's. Helps avoid most cop spit too.
@fortheloveofking4 жыл бұрын

I thought the dart traps did block damage! this makes using the dart traps easier. Dart traps are my favorite, electric fences second favorite. If you combine them with the physical barrier, or concentrate dart fire down a corridor, it's just devestating. Basically AFK base, if you feel like it. 1500 darts in a dart trap lasts about for about 4.5 to 5 hours firing continuously. If you have them set to only fire when there's a target, full horde.

@fortheloveofking4 жыл бұрын
Unrelated question, but I wanted to post on your latest 7DTD video: I understand that gamestage determines the difficulty of your horde. But when it comes to using vanilla vs. 64x or anything in between, are the hordes a set number of zombies so that more zombies (if you kill them fast enough) will lead to a shorter horde, or is it essentially just more difficult because it's not stop killing until a certain time of night? (this question obviously applies only to earlier hordes that will have more than 64 zombies but still not last all the way until 4am)
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
So the short answer is, every wave (and each bmh has 3 waves) has a finite number of zombies in it. So technically you can clear out a horde if your setup is efficient enough. At some point however, you run up against spawn-delays and "time to travel" for zombies from their origin to your killing point(s), where even if you kill them instantaneously there are just too many zombies in the wave. But it is possible for sure. It's more likely early on when the total number is low, as when it goes into the hundreds (max appears to be 500 in a19), it means you need to kill 1500 zombies. Doable, but needs efficient killing OR a long night :D
@fortheloveofking4 жыл бұрын
@@Vedui42 So essentially, if you've set yourself up in the position to constantly be killing multiple zombies, x64 zombies would make the horde easier because you're already killing non-stop but you'll get it done quicker. I play 90 minute days so my nights are 22:30 minutes instead of 15:00. Eventually I'll get overwhelmed if not for electric turrets so follow up question: You can have 2 electric turrets running at a time off of 1 battery bank, is this correct?

Connect all 4 generators/banks to a relay and then connect the relay to a switch that runs to another relay that goes to your traps. When the switch is off, only the 1st relay needs power so your consumption of batteries/gas is very low. Turn on the switch will power the rest of your traps.

Me too, but i prefer motion sensor. so I can move the detection device further away from the zombies. if a cop blows up or something you can lose a tripwire, and then nothing is firing. Lets the electric traps and dart traps cover a longer path too since motion sensors have more range than tripwires. But you need a skinny hallway kill zone for motion sensors to make sense. Or put the motion sensor recessed into a deep hole in the wall to narrow it's field of view.

@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you're using motion sensor, simply have it activate only on zombies (or strangers). if you want to use dart traps linked to trip wires you can still do that. Motion sensor (set to ONLY zombies/strangers) --> relay (important!! this is needed) --> trip wire A -> trip wire B --> dart trap. Then when MOTION sensor AND Trip wire is triggered, it will transmit down to the dart trap which will fire. If you skip the relay in between, it's an OR gate, ie, if either motion sensor or trip wire is triggered. A relay makes it AND and requires both. :)

I like to use a combination based on melee as it’s cheapest on resources. I use the shotgun turret overhead for vultures and I use fences to stun in front of hatches and poles so I can melee. But I want to use blade traps to soften/kill the taller more dangerous zombies like wights, cops and the demolishers so I can switch out weapons and headshot them. I haven’t been able to set this up though. Either they are too high and miss everything or too low and hit everything. The issue with them hitting everything is the damage they take when killing zombies I can melee or shoot myself. It’s about preserving resources and making sure the traps last long enough on horde nights. Can anyone help with setting the blade traps up to only hit taller zombies?
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
Interesting, you use shotguns for vultures. Any reason you prefer those to smg turrets? :) So for taller zombies, in a18 (I think they changed heights in A19 though) you could do a half block and then blade trap 2 up and it'd hit demos, wights and cops sometime. That no longer seemed to work in A19.0 at least.
@grunkleman42804 жыл бұрын
@@Vedui42 thanks for clarifying. I hoped that wasn't the case. So now it's a question about sorting to see if I can get the "tall" zombies to path into the blade traps and the others to path differently. The shotgun traps is just to share ammo as I keep the 9mm for my own use in pistols and SMG. That said, I'm loving the sound of new tac rifle and the desert eagle is a beast of a hand gun so I may go to SMG auto turrets.

SMGs and shotgun turrets use at doorways to keep annoying screamers from knocking on your doors.

heh, my home base has smg turrets setup to cover the perimeter just so I can ignore my heatmap at night and smelt/craft/cook whatever I want. Just turn off the generators during the day while im gone and check the ammo from time to time.

Hands down fences, blade traps just damage way to quickly, if you set up the fences right you can put the fencer on your side of blocks so you can easily repair them. Fences work ideal with dart traps though I don't always use them.
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
Fences used to be OP in A16. They did add degradation, but in A19 it seems to multi-stun zombies without letting them act/move. So they're in some ways even better i nA19, even though they do degrade.
@ltkjunk4 жыл бұрын
they seem to give a warning zap sound when they are at about 25% health left? Something like that and maybe they explode if you let them go all the way down though not sure never let them get that low
@ltkjunk4 жыл бұрын
Zombies can't damage my top block really at all so as long as the fences are up one steel block is all you need and you melee a lot of them while they are perma stunned - occasionally one may get a swipe but doesn't amount to much. Never used the fences for a long time but when I did changed everything - went away from the killing corridor to the killing stairs type base. Stairs really eliminate most if not all the spitting, cops don't seem to spit if they can't see you - never have trouble with that any more spit used to wreck a lot of things. As they come up the stairs my turrets nails them in the back great for demos too...

@Vedui Hi can you make a mod so we can use the camera with the TV?? Its a shame that we barely use different lights too btw. I hope TFP will do something about it. I love your video's and yes im subscribed!
@kathrynck4 жыл бұрын
That would be really cool, but also really challenging to make I would think. I have seen people use a panel of lights wired up to display where motion sensors are detecting a problem.

Hello community, will a blade trap set off a demolisher? Im researching the heck outta electricity my father and I play together and he is ammo HEAVY so looking to use traps a lot more.
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
It will not! :) It used to , but for alpha 19 they changed so blade no longer sets off the demolishers! So go ahead and use!

Protip: use eletric fences with blade traps, works wonders
@Vedui423 жыл бұрын
They do, although I prefer dart traps in general, but blade traps if built properly (so you can repair easily mid-horde) are good :)

Oh and I like always using dual fences one upside down so it is in the first block off the ground and another so it's in the second block off ground that way spiders and dogs are zapped as well. Dogs are kind of strange somehow they can occasionally get between.
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
Which is a great point :) I often set them down one for that reason, so it takes the bottom block :D

The truly the trap i mostly love in this game is log spike but unfortunately they remove it..
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
Yes :( I still miss it. The new metal spikes are "ok" but since they degrade and break so fast it's back to replacing a hundred after a horde, which is pointless.

Yes, an "advanced targeting" module allowing you to chose which to target would be awesome. Sadly, doubt that'll ever happen.

there's a thing...it's gotta have a name. but it'd probably be "the more you do a thing, the less it'll happen" talking about your subscribers and asking them for 2 minutes is a lot of time that people might not always appreciate. I view subs and especially likes, as "if they're gonna, they will, asking them often doesn't help, and can easily disuade them.

If people want to subscribe, they will subscribe. Having over 1 minute of pandering in your video does nothing but turn people off the idea of subscribing.
@Vedui424 жыл бұрын
So I could say you're 100 % wrong but I would be wrong too. You're actually more than 400 % wrong. In just a week of reminding people to subscribe, I've seen more than 400 % subs more than before. Heck 1 day that skyrocketed to 300 subs, to be compared with 500-600 for a whole month. But not to worry, this piece of education was free too, just like the rest of my content :) I would suggest that when you're not quite experienced in what you speak off, to be more humble, because you look fairly foolish making declarations that are directly contrary to what happens, and to best practices for running a content channel :)

You're right. In general, I think one should consider the console 7dtd and pc 7dtd as completely different games. Even initially it was clear console would not match up to what PC had, and since Telltale folded, all updates stopped too.
