There was a solar sell quality 4 that was visible at Better Barter rank 4 @ 16:27 so it appears you may not need rank 5 to get them.

Hi Tyler! Sharp eyes as yours caught that. Apparently it was a sub-group trade that I didn't notice that also had the cell. Changed from A18, but due to that group it IS possible if unlikely to find a cell :)

Yes. It seems they removed PowerCell from the trader, but also added another group of trading items, that itself can contain powercell. I missed out on that when I checked, that that trade group is also on tier 4 and not just t5 :)

At 16:30 you say the trader doesn't have solar panels but there is one on that page you are looking at. I'm guessing they reverted the change back to unlocking them at BB level 4?

I was making sure people were paying attention! No it was a mistake by me. I had checked the xmls and there was no Solar... except there was but it was nested down into another category and not on the top level as it is on BB 5. So much less likely to show up, but it can. And ... as you noted, it even appeared when I did the video but didn't even notice! I wouldn't be surprised if it was a mistake by TFP, as they removed it from the top level category on purpose... and then inadvertently used a sub-group which still had it. But who knows :D

Yeah someone on reddit noticed that too. :) It seems while the cell is only on tier 5, they stuck it in a sub-group that can show up on tier 4. :) So while it's different than a18, it still means the cell can show up. Just not the solar bank itself.

Solar for me is quite worthless. Our base has a powered drawbridge with 2 motion sensors, on on the outside wall and one on the inside, but when i power the bridge with Solar hooked up to a Battery bank, the bridge only works during the night, because during day the Battery Bank is charging, and for some reason it can't output power while charging.

Since solar is locked behind int 10 ... I end up rarely getting it to be honest, generators works, I'd use solar, but by the time I can buy I've already tired of the playthrough as it's so far down the line. :)

me and my friend have made a drawbridge right after an orizontal gate. Both electrical. We are using the trick you re showing at 12:40 with 2 pressure plates connected to each other and then connecting either one to both the "doors". For some reason only one of the pressure plates actually works, the other does nothing. Btw we used the trick with motion sensors on another orizontal gate and it works. What could we possibly be doing wrong?

Hmm. That's weird. You might wanna try it with a light. generator --> tp1 --> tp2 --> light. And make sure both trigger and turn on the light. I use this trick right now and seems to be fine. Maybe try re-wiring it? I did hear some weird electrical stuff after the 19.1 version dropped, so maybe some connections need to be redone.

The thing is we managed to make both plates work on both doors, the problem is when one works the other one doesn t. I might do that again. I did it back in a18, and i suspect the same thing actually works in a19. It would however cause a power draw the whole time. (Unless you try to trick the electrical circuit which used to work somewhat, but not recommended as you risk power file corruption and that'll be a huge headache :)

No :) But you CAN do the same, put a timer relay after it, so it only lets power through during night and during day there's no draw from the circuit. Not perfect, still noisy, but it works :)

Here this will help Newbees: Wire the Cable from Power Source (Generator or Battery Bank) to Trip Wire Post, to next Trip Wire Post to Dart Trap. I have Solar Banks wired to my Battery Banks (for constant charging of all my Defence Systems) to SMG Auto Turrets, Blade Trap and Dart Trap. If needed you may wire the Generator to the Battery Bank, and turn on only when the batteries get low.

I missed that part out, as while it's not available in the main loot, apparently (and amusingly it was captured on the video that I missed!) it's also included in a sub-group at level 4. I thought I checked for it but missed it apparently. fortunately, viewers are more keen eyed than me! :)

About the door connected to the pressure sensor, wont it open the door for the zombies as well if they step on it? Also I was wondering if you could start the generator by connecting it to a pressure sensor. And power that sensor with a power bank? So when a zombie steps on the plate it starts the generator all the traps come online for say a min or 2. And charge the battery bank as well, base defence runs for 2 min and everything shuts down thus sparing fuel.

Yes it will. :) You can just substitute it with a motion sensor, and it works exactly the same way. Generators can not have any input, only output :) Put the switch after the generator, so it will always be running, but unless the switch/trigger is activate it won't draw much fuel.

Yes, just keep in mind that while the solar is active it will ONLY use the solar to power. ie, if the solar has a capacity of 25 W and the battery bank has capacity for 200W, it means daytime you can only power 25 W .. night time you can power 200W :)

I have been having trouble with the hatch working. Pretty much my set up is, battery bank (with batteries in it) to first motion sensor then to the second sensor and finally connecting to the powered hatch. When I walk to the first sensor the hatch always opens and I enter my base, but when I'm leaving my base after some time. The second sensor won't work. I have watch your video for a few times. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

I think I've seen that problem in Alpha 18, not specifically used it in Alpha 19, where it seemed to simply break. Not sure what causes it, replacing and rewiring seems to fix though. I think it's a bug.

Is there a way to extend the reach of the cable between triggers with an OR gate ? Since once you put in a relay, it becomes an AND gate. [EDIT]: How can I get solar power to provide more than 180W, can I connect multiple banks together ? Battery banks can support up to 300W, how does that work with charging and power usage during the daytime ?

15 blocks only I'm afraid :) And solar banks cap out much lower than fuel generators, requiring multiple circuits. With battery banks providing more than solar, you run into issues if you use too much, as if the solar bank is active that one will have the 180 draw, and anything more will be off-line ... even if the battery bank should be able to provide juice. It won't. It's a bit of a messy implementation :)

Yes. Recharging takes 5 watt, so unless you're maxing things out, it should recharge the battery banks :)

Hey, man. My battery bank isn't kicking in at night once the solar shuts off. Only one half of my doors work. Double checked all the connections. Any ideas? I have way more power input than output, just doesn't activate at night.

That's weird. People have reported however that if their solar power is say 30 watt, and the battery bank can output 100, and your power draw is 50 then you're gonna have issues, as it seems to only pull 30 (ie, same as solar bank) as opposed to the full 50 you'd think was possible. Some bugs like that I've heard.

0:40 around there... hold up. Solar power is linked to intellect... true..... selling is also linked to intellect, and making lots of dukes, 40k range, might take 5 hours, sometimes 7. Not that horrid honestly. You should probably have that ability after day 7. Teir 2 quests plus, repair broken loot, install mods you found, selling buffs, better barter (can be done without it too). Load bicycle with excess sellables.. you should be golden... also, try making a bunch of teir 5 tools, make some mods, there flow the dukes even more (as i never even need to do that)

Hi David. Depends! Since you need to have intellect level 10, for an in game item, the only in game item requiring intellect 10, I think it's wrongly balanced :D On most of my playthroughts I do not get intellect 10 as there're so many other areas to focus on too. Ie, I rarely get solar panels as a result :D

In our base we have a Solar Bank that has about 55w of output that is connect to a Battery Bank that has 220w of output. We connected the Solar Bank to the Battery Bank and connected it to 2 Blade Traps that cost 20w each. During the day time everything runs fine but when it comes night time they turn off despite the traps being connected to the Battery Bank. I'm confused why this is happening.

Yep! As during night time, the solar bank is active, but produces 0w. But being active, it's still the "generator" of the circuit, not the battery bank. The trick is to put a timer relay between solar bank and battery bank, and flip it to disable power at night fall, and re-engage at daybreak. That way during the day it's the solar bank, during night it's the battery bank :)

It's passthrough. Ie, during the day solar bank --> battery --> items will charge the battery and run the items if you have enough power. It's the solar bank power that determines it. Make sure you have enough power for both the items and the charging however :) if you have 100w and then run 100w, there's nothing left to charge the battery bank :) normally it's about 5 only tho!

I did actually make a vehicle elevator video (the hatchevator) ..but they patched it for some unknown reason sadly! I've seen some very weird contraptions that sorta do something similar, but they were fairly odd and nowhere near what we had before, and thus people don't use them. I Wish they had put in a proper elevator, like in Undead Legacy, where we have a really cool one!

Yes they do ! :) The best way is to run solar bank --> battery bank --> rest of circuit :) fuse boxes might be in as an asset you can buy. I use it for my wireless power (ie, hides the wires) modlet :)

One problem with solar though is if your solar panel doesn't generate enough juice, say its a few watts short for your trap system, it won't pull from the battery to make the difference so long as it's producing power and some of your traps won't activate. I found this very annoying. I need to figure out a way to switch the power from solar off using a trigger device so it will use the battery then switch back right away so it can recharge.

Yes that's true. There seems to be only one power generator, so either it's the solar, or battery. :) You can use a timer relay, such as between solar and battery but in general I tend to put non-essential stuff on solar, and traps for hordes on generators.

@@Vedui42 Timer unfortunately wouldn't do anything for surprise guests. The idea is to have the same sensor that starts the traps also disconnect the solar panel so it rightly draws from the battery for more total output since batteries are far easier to find than solar panels, then back to solar after to charge everything back up. Dun think we can do proper logic circuits though so its probably impossible without a mod.

Yep! And I think it's a pity. I would personally like to see electricity become simpler (ie, do away with wires, and just power in an area directly through configuration), and more complex as a result by allowing configurations on items of how they work, such as timers, targeting etc. But one probably have to play games like Empyrion to do that :)

Shades/Nerd Glasses/Cigar boost the prime stat point - unless you have a 100% need for a certain level - you can use those to save 2 points of stat perk purchase. Ex Intellect 9 + Nerd Glasses = 10 Int and allows you to buy Corporate CEO -- take the glasses off, you lose the 5/5 Better Barter, put Nerd glasses back on and you get it back;-)

Thanks for the info But 1 thing, you forgot the mention the battery Charging power draw from Solar Panel that uses 5w. Also can you make a Video about I have solar panel filled with all level 6 cells and battery bank with all level 6 empty batteries how long it will take the batteries to get charged fully. and Does it scale with the Day duration settings? Cause I play with 120 minutes a Day duration

In general yeah it's affected by tool, but also skill level. It also is a factor of time, and stamina. It's why better tools give more resources, but can be slower overall :)

Did they talk of doing that? I do recall some discussions, but I got the impression they were having a huge problem with how to handle performance, as running all the extra electricity stuff is fairly CPU heavy (especially back in A16). So they hit 15.5 equivalent, but no electricity, but sure they were working at something :)

Yes and no :) Wrenching a car (beginner) vs (expert) and getting 3 vs 10 mechanical parts I can buy, as there'd be 100 in there as part of construction, and the expert simply can extract more without damaging. However a car only has 1 battery :P 1 engine. Finding more is a bit of a suspense of belief. One could argue the extra was in the trunk, but that would then be a loot thing, not a wrench thing :D

Solar panels: You would need pure or near pure silicon wafers, boron, phosphorus, and hydrofloric acid (nasty stuff).

Sure :) But we can make vehicles, a rudimentary AI (self-targeting turrets), so see that as within realms of what we should be able to :D or scavenge outside.

@@Vedui42 It would be really cool if you could melt down sand in a super furnace and apply electricity at the same time to get silicon. The rest of the stuff needed could be an "industrial chemistry set" perhaps. With high skills it should allow for not just solar cells but the manufacture of certain electronic components.

Hello! You missed all the comments saying the same! I absolutely missed that yes :) It's because while I looked in the xml, they shifted the cell into a sub-group for tier 4, so it can appear even though even less likely. Whereas at tier 5 it's in the main group! :) my bad!

Garage doors are interesting in the sense that when it goes up vertically, it also goes horizontal. :) which is super useful for some base builds as a side note.

Nah, the solar cells are already too expensive as is. So much so, I don't even bother messing with solar stuff.. Especially since gennies are so cheap, and easy to build.

My main point was that it shouldn't be ONLY people with Int 10 and Better barter 5 :) There needs to be a way for other skill builds to also get them. Maybe all prices need to be dropped, just more expensive until you hit better barter skill 5 (as opposed to now, unable to buy no matter what :)

I actually Edited the XML file and made the cell value half, so if with buffs and stuff I can buy one cell with 18000 coins, Solar Cells works fine for stuff if you want to make that thing run all day for example I have a fence set up with Electric Fence trap which I run all day and also power Garage door cause its painful to leave my vehicle and open door then again close it its best for these things

@@NeCLiaH Thats still about 19k more than they should be.. The cost to benefit ratio just isn't there. So it's a fuel less electric source.. Big deal. By the time you are high level enough to get them, you can have multiple battery banks in series, and unlimited gas to run the dozens of gennies you could buy for 19k..

Judging by a bunch of comments, no :) It seems while the solar cell is not in the main trading category, it's nested below in a subgroup where it apparently can show up, if rarely, which I hadn't realized until after publishing the video :) but sharp eyes caught it!

I like they added the respect potion. However, I've honestly never used it in survival gameplay. :) people shouldn't have to respec just to get into one skill tree to buy, it means they have to do twice, and reset all skills, and every time they want to buy more. that's a huge pain :P

People have keen eyes! Easy to miss when recording! Apparently in the xml they don't have it in the trader stash itself, but they had it in a sub-group which can appear under perk 4 :) something i missed out :)
