Electrickery - LG Dishwasher OE fault

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.. when a blood curdling scream pierced the air, cutting through the whole house!
Oh no cried my wife - this looks really bad: the dishwasher displaying OE on the pad.
It’s ok I refrained it’s not been that long : warranted for sure! Oh boy was I wrong!
6 years or more since the washer came home. No tech support for me, I was all alone
No problem I cried as I ripped her apart. We’ll find the answers, un-break my wife’s heart.

Thanks so much for the video, we live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and have the same dishwasher and today had the OE error. I was quoted by an appliance repairer $95 service call, plus $22 per 10 minutes labour, plus $220 for the drain pump (which you can buy on ebay for $45) so after watching your video I noticed that when I started a washing cycle the machine did pump water for the first ten seconds or so but wouldn't work during the wash cycle so I turned the machine on and off only letting it run for about 30 seconds, I did this 6 or 7 times to empty the water out of the washer and that fixed it. I can only guess something was keeping the non-return valve open as with your machine. Thanks again…

Great job the both of you. Had to fix ours recently - dreaded drip. As it ended up - self-inflicted during remodel movement. Quick snug up of the internal nut and back in business. I can’t thank you enough for the video... it really helped me out... had an Oe error code start to come on ...after watching your video..I found I had a piece of a handle from a plastic spoon exactly where your peppercorns were... Thanks for the video and the comments. Ours not draining at all. Just needed the journey from Kitchen to garage then laid on it's back when I read PMR220T's comment and stood it back up. Connected it all up in the garage and worked fine. Must have just needed a bit of a bump or two to dislodged the problem. Cheers Darren

Great video and instructions. I had a DE error and thanks to this video I could tell the drain pump was going bad on our 5 years old dishwasher. These pumps seem to fail between 3 and 5 yrs. However, I was able to purchase just the pump (about $21) instead of the whole housing with the pipes and clips (about $46). I was also able to replace the pump without having to remove the dishwasher. A bit tight but can definitely be done in about 10 minutes. Thanks a million for the video; it saved me a bunch of $. @t

Thank you! Although our dishwasher didn’t have an issue with the little valve, we did manage to blow a pumpkin seed out of it, which fixed our issue. Yay for home repairs!

Hi. My machine is showing same error. Is it imperative to pull the dishwasher out and turn it on its back. Or can this be done without pulling the machine out? Thank you

I did have some luck with a later video I posted, where the one way valve inside the machine is not closing due to food (in my case it was a peppercorn) removing the drain pipe at the sink end and sucking on the hose to start the siphon was able to clear the blockage

any ideas? I followed this using some rubber to make non return valve, worked, but shortly after I am now getting internal water code (AE), I have to tip the machine back to empty to bottom tray of water. It seems to empty the machine while it is in a wash cycle, and the water seems to be going into the bottom tray, rather than being pumped out!! once I get the AE code it sounds like the drain pump is running.

AE may be a physical blockage of the impeller, check in my videos, I had a piece of glass that had wedged itself in just the wrong place to stop the impeller from turning

My non-return valve is missing. I am struggling to find a replacement. Any suggestions, should I make one myself or do you foresee there being issues with suction pressure if I don’t get the exact dimensions correct?

Hand cut some insertion rubber (1mm or so) I’m sure it would work, let me know how you get on!
