Troubleshoot LG Dishwasher no power - SOLVED! Easy, Free! No parts required - just a drill. Do shut off the power to your machine first at your breaker. I discovered this fix somewhere online last year when I had a corroded broken pipe under my kitchen sink that was the dishwasher discharge line into the sink drain. I am re-posting the steps because it was found in obscure place and so difficult to find. I haven’t seen it again and I’ve never seen any other repair page mention this. Tip for maybe a minute - to the front and then to the back. You don’t have to tip it much, when I did it in this video I didn’t actually even pull it out of the opening
- just an inch or two so I could grab the sides.
The cause: There is a water sensor down in the bottom of the machine and when it detects water where there shouldn’t be any, it will kill the power. So gently tipping the machine for a minute after shutting off the breaker may restore the power by draining out the water. When I’ve done it it hasn’t leaked out of the machine and just evaporated on its own. If this is your cause do you determine why you might have excess water collecting so it doesn’t recur. In my first event it was a broken pipe and in the second event it may have been water that leaked down from the sink/counter from dishes in the dish drain.
I would say this may work on your machine if you occasionally find your panel goes glitchy for no reason. I’ve also had it where it wouldn’t power on at night and inexplicably would start in the morning. I now suspect that would be because the water by my sensor evaporated overnight.

This totally works however you don’t need to take it out. Pull out your bottom tray there is a filtered in the center just before the spinner facing you. Turn it counter clockwise and take it out to clean. I took a shop vac and vacuumed the water out. My dishwasher came on immediately. Thank you so much for your help.👏👏👏👏👏

Okay so I have had the no power issue 3 times on my lg dishwasher now. I found this video and it worked by tilting it the first couple of times and I would hear water draining when I did so. This time though for some odd reason tilting did not work. Did what you said and that thankfully worked, even though I assume it achieves the same thing (draining water around the filter area). Either way thanks a lot for the tip.

Thank you so much! You saved me hours worth of needless diagnostics and detective work. Power came on as soon as I slid my LG out about a foot and tipped it forward and back a few degrees. Tricky switch got triggered back on and I was good to go. No fuses or circuit boards, etc. You have done a public service for countless LG consumers!

I'm impressed. This actually worked! We had to get creative to get the dishwasher out because the power cord kept the machine from moving out. But with a little bit of finagling, we were about to tip the machine forwards and backwards on each side for 3 minutes and voila! Thanks!

Omg! It worked, Thank you!! Instead of detaching the machine from the countertop, I unscrewed the bottom washer filter unit, removed it and saw there was a pool of water. I took a shop vac hoe, sopped up the water, turned back on the electrical panel and the machine powered back on. Im soooo happy, thanks again!

I had a voltage spike and blew the caps on the noise filter. When I turned the washer on it's side to replace it, I flooded the overflow tank that also killed the power. I assumed the main board was toast. I almost gave up and bought a new washer. This video just saved me $800. Thanks Lady!!!!!

This worked for me too as the dishwasher appeared dead last night. I removed it from the cabinet and disconnected the power to really tip the machine completely forward and back, as minor tipping didn't do the trick. Once water leaked all over my floor, the dishwasher turned back on! Thanks again!

I watched this just before deciding to dig in and search for a blown filter fuse in my exact model as yours. As per your video, I loosened the front mounting screws and lifted the machine front about 1.5 inches for 20 sec. Set it back down, shut the door, and pushed the power button...BAM! lights back on :) dingers dinging. FIXED! :)

Thank you!!! So I had to take an extra step with this and just wanted to comment in case this might be helpful for anyone else. I took the filter out of the bottom and used a shop vac to suck up all the water. Then we turned the breaker off, waited a few minutes, turned the breaker back on and it started working immediately. I read from another comment that they had to hold down the start and power button at the same time for 10 seconds so you may want to try that as well if it doesn’t turn back on immediately after resetting

Sat it back down and touched the panel and it powered up. Unbelievable. THANK YOU for posting this!!!

No doubt you saved lots of people a good amount of money and time. Thank you for taking the time to post your solution. I moved my dishwasher a little bit out of the cabinet housing just enough to be able to tilt it forward and shake. I didn't hear any draining or rushing of water. I just assumed it somehow freed up the sensor of any water or moisture that prevents the machine from turning on. It worked.

This worked for me too! Thanks! My dishwasher was also not powering on at all, so I pulled the washer out and tilted it forward for about a minute. I also used a sponge to soak up water from the bottom of the tub below the filter and emptied the drain hose too (just for good measure). Although, it did not work immediately. I had to wait for about an hour for some reason before it would turn back on. Could have been that I just wasn't pushing the power button quite right though. Not a big fan of these touchpad buttons. All in all, a pretty weird symptom of a water buildup issue. Not impressed by LG design/support here, but fixed it thanks to you!

Found no water in the bottom tray at the bottom of machine. Found article online to disconnect power to the dishwasher, then push and hold the power and start button at the same time for 10 seconds, then release both buttons. Turn the power back on for the dishwasher and it worked for me. This is called a hard reset procedure. Why it needed this done, I have no idea.

Folks I don’t want to talk out of turn but I had the same issue. However as I rocked the machine back and forth I heard a clicking sound. I thought it was the sensor but when I found the source I saw sparks. It’s in the panel under the machine on the bottom right. The wires were melted. What an ordeal to put them back together and wrap with electrical tape. I don’t know if that’s going to do the trick but I plan on getting a new machine. I used it 4 times total and it had that issue!!! Might be a manufacturer defect or I’m just unlucky.
