The lack of a charging light on a toothbrush with three brushing modes resembles an engineering oversight. Without visual confirmation, you're left guessing whether it's appropriately charging or positioned correctly. If it stops working, diagnosing the issue becomes a frustrating game of guesswork. This isn't just inconvenient; it's a fundamental design flaw that undermines the user experience and the product's reliability. I would never have bought it if I had known it lacked such an essential, yet crucial, feature like a simple light indicator, which costs a few cents to add.

Another point of view might be that it's intentional to push you up the range to more expensive models that have such?! Or push you to another brand!

Agreed! It’s annoying not knowing whether it’s charged and it takes too long too charge! Have also just had to take mine back as it stopped working after only a few months? It’s been swapped but if I had spare money I think I would have chosen a better model!

I just got this one and this is the first electric tooth brush I have in my life. Usually, all dentists compliment me a lot for having a very good dental hygiene, but I realised that I really spend a lot of effort and time to get my teeth so clean, and an electric one will make it easier for me! Amazing, I highly suggest this tooth brush!

This is so much better than the appalling "instructions" that come with the brush, just a general warning in 26 different language about not doing this or that, dispose of the product correctly etc etc. There are some diagrams, many of which seem to refer to different models, but no explanatory text. None of the information in this video is included, and the website is not much help - it asks for a code number that is not printed anywhere on the brush or packaging. Haven't used it yet, but gosh I wish I'd watched this video first.

When I last visited my Hygienist, I told him I was using an entry-level OralB which was about 15 years old and coming up for replacement. I mentioned that they have a range with various features, some costing as much as £200. Is there any advantage to paying for anything but this one? His answer was short and straight to the point, "No"

I just got this toothbrush and I noticed immediately that it has no light indicator, compared to my older Oral-B toothbrush. I figured either the charger or the battery toothbrush is faulty and I was about to call the customer service to make a complaint. Then I decided to first check this toothbrush on the KZbin and voila, I found the answer. I really cannot beleive that in 2024 the toothbrush has no light indicator, both when charging or being low on battery, especially comparing it to the previous models. When you read the manual that comes with the battery, it clearly shows light indicator on the toothbrush in the bottom part fo the toothbrush. Unbelieavable. Thank you for your review, it saved me some time and energy!

Bought this on Amazon and I'm returning it. Probably will clean well, but we bought a two pack with one charger (knew this beforehand), but it takes 22 HOURS to charge ONE handle! So basically two days just to charge both units! And there is NO light to tell you it's charging, when it is charged, and when it is low on charge. Buying the Pro3 dual combo which takes 12 hours each, has a lithium Ion vs NIMH battery, has lights for charging status, low battery, etc., the light up pressure sensor, and LONGER battery life, all for just a bit more, and it comes with a 3rd head. Thanks for your reviews.

Thanks for the comment. The Vitality Pro serves a need for many and is perfectly satisfactory, but it's a wise switch to go for the Pro 3.

I bought one today , looked at the instructions , trying to understand why the charging light isn't working. So i am worrying that i bought a dud. Instructions were as useful as chocolate teapot ...this model wasn't even listed in the instructions. Had to go on youtube to see if i was missing something or if it is a dud. I already had the far cheaper model that i have had for around 6 years and that was great , but struggling to hold its charge due to age. That had a low charge and charging indicator and cost far less. I only paid half price for vitality pro , so now i am playing guessing games to see if it is actually going to work or not. This , in my opinion is a huge design flaw. It should have an indicator light.

Every six months or so of buying Oral B electric brushes I start to get a grey substance leaving out of it and mixing with my toothpaste which I notice when spitting out. Recently seen a video of somone taking one apart showing what the cause it and am wondering if this is dangerous to my health. Also it does not take long for the male part of the unit head to delaminate the chrome.

I've not experienced this grey stuff to comment. Not seen any delamination of the chrome part of the shaft that the brush heads connect to after repeated use.

I don't know. Are you placing it the right way round? The front of the brush should be facing the opposite direction to the cable extending from the back of the stand.

Is the pressure and feeling of those 3 cleaning modes are similar to the ones on the iO series? I have this vitality pro toothbrush and thinking about buying iO series 4. I usually use the middle or last modes on this one, and I'm afraid that the modes on the iO will feel too "light" for me. Any suggestions?
@ElectricTeeth2 ай бұрын
The modes on the iO are going to feel more intense due to the configuration of the brush motor. The pressure doesn't really feel any different.

Just purchased one of these units on eBay and NOT impressed. The 'manual' is a large piece of paper (50 x 60 cm) with details in 17 languages AND not very helpful. I tried to find details about charging and didn't see anything. Seems weird there are NO electrical contact parts on the charger base. The brush sits on the base and nothing (no clip fit or twist to engage with anything) to suggest it is charging. There are no LED or similar indicators to suggest a) it needs charging, b) it is charging or c) it is charged OR d) to indicate the mode to be used - less than one would expect today with a premium brand. The charger comes with a cable with a two pin 'shaver' type plug - this may have been fine 10 or more years ago. Personally I would expect a USB connector, again in this day and age. The USB is universally accepted (we have another toothbrush with USB connector and I have a battery shaver with USB connector. We have no shaver points in the bathroom so need to use an adapter elsewhere). I have tried to contact - via eBay messages (where I purchased the item) their 'oral-b_official_store'. The support is very poor and little help to date.
@ElectricTeeth Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. Yes indeed these are some common complaints people have. Oral-B don't offer currently any models with USB charging stands as for those in the UK at least, USB ports are not present in the bathroom, but 2 pin shaver sockets are more common (albeit not in all homes). You can buy third party/after market stands that do offer USB charging. Models higher up in the Oral-B range, such as the Pro 1 or Pro 3 series doe offer the LED notification to confirm the battery is charging.
@peterwlliams1394 Жыл бұрын
I agree USB are not in bathrooms BUT they are almost everywhere else and USB chargers are part of almost everyone's 'must have' when travelling. @@ElectricTeeth

Correct Nicholas. Just be aware Oral-B does also make & sell heads designed specifically for their iO Series of toothbrushes. These are 2x the price of normal heads and don't fir the Pro 3. If you require it, here is a video showing the compatible heads - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep2nqaCjm9WXaZI

I just bought the Genius X and tried the sensitive mode (I have bridges, crowns, and a bit of receeding gums as well some plaque due to coffee, etc) Do you think the sensitive plus mode on Vitality pro will be better? I can keep both if I must(vitality for daily cleaning and genius for special cleaning) or should I go for IO 8 (for the super sensitive mode). I am using the sensitive clean brush head already as per your advice. In Germany I found only one type of sensitive brush head, seems one of them got discontinued. Thank you for advice.
@ElectricTeeth2 жыл бұрын
So you have both the Vitality Pro and the Genius X? Why buy the Vitality when you already have the very capable Genius X? I think what you have on the Genius X is arguably better. Unless you really find the daily clean mode too intense, then this is fine for bridges and crowns etc, you don't need to use a sensitive/super sensitive mode thus there is really no need to buy the iO8 too.
