I show how to setup and configure a new Sherman. CORRECTION: I forgot to mention that pressing and holding the upper left LCD button will reset the trip odometer. Pressing the button will cycle through the different values. Also, if you want to put the Sherman back into transportation mode, go to the Sleep display (see 05:33) and press the OK button 9-times and you'll see it switch to Sleep9. Turn off the wheel and you won't be able to turn it on until you plug the charger in.

A simple design adjustment can address the light angle issue when doing uphill or downhill. They can make the light tilt higher when it's torquing, and lower when negative torquing. By the principal of equivalency, the wheel doesn't know whether it's going uphill or accelerating.

Awesome video. Thanks Marty very helpful. One thing I did which you didnt is a free wheel spin to check how true the tire was seated. Then I deflated it to manipulate the tire rim line so that it was as uniform around the rim as possible. That definitely helps to make the tire spin better... Great video Marty, the pads that come with the Sherman are nice, I think it would have been a good idea to punch 2 holes at the top of the pad where the side panel screws are so you don't need to lift the edge of the pad off the panel to access the screws, I have the larger pads you helped design on my Sherman and they fit well below these 2 top panel screws so I don't need to disturb the adhesive tape. I didn't know about the advanced mode settings so thank you for the insight mate.

Great video and much better than a manual that also sometime does not make sense. This will get allot of guys going with an overview of the control panel. Thanks a lot for making the setup guide. I can't wait for my Sherman to come next week. I do like the air compressor for the tires, It's probably really fast, but can I recommend another option? It's a little pocket size digital pump. It will read your PSI down to the 10th place and you can set it digitally and push a button and walk away while it inflates your tires. I think ewheels actually has one by xiaomi. Great to bring along on your rides in case of slowleak or terrain /rider changes. the best part though is that you don't have to go back and forth between pumping and checking PSI as it will read out on the LCD as it inflates.

Someone might have said it already, but the little round cylinder shaped protrusion on the top side of the pressure gauge when checking pressure, is designed to push the Schrader valve, in order to relieve pressure. It will also help prolong the life of your gauge by not engaging the seal/rubber side

Hi Marty, I love you review of the Veteran Sherman, and the setup video. What you didn't talk about is the Riding mode and the Calibration that much. As a beginner, I will like to know what mode to set up my Sherman to? I am one of those take it easy rider who like to use the Sherman for a commuting less than 15 to 30 miles a day to work. I also like to ride at 15 to 20 miles an hour. I hope you can tell that, I'm not one for the riding at high speed type of guy. So let me know what riding mode to set up the Sherman, and also tilting forward and backward (from 1 to 5) and (from -1 to -5). Again, thank you for your setup video. You are right on the money n and I can wait to start riding the wheel.

Riding mode is very personal. I find that most people (including myself) enjoy hard mode the most. But I know people who prefer the softer modes. There is no best answer. It's so simple to change, why not experiment yourself. I only add a backward tilt if I will be going down a very steep hill for and extended period. +2-degrees.

Hi, Marty. Hope this message finds you well. I'm hoping you can recommend peak A delivery alarm settings for the sherman.. I ride aggressive and with my weight and tilt back off I'd like to have a current delivery alarm to my Bluetooth. Do you agree with that approach to avoid cut out speeds? Thanks!
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles 3 жыл бұрын
IMO, monitoring amperes will do nothing towards avoiding a cutout. Using a current alarm is useful for preventing motor/wire burnouts due to excessive power draw over time, such as what can occur while climbing hills over an extended time period. For those purposes, probably ~120-amps is a useful value. If current could be useful in preventing cutouts, I would have zero insight into what values would represent a problem.

@ElectricUnicycles

The stock pads, as I show in detail in the video, are designed to precisely sit in upper region of the shell. For these pads that is a good placement since they are only used for acceleration and braking. Many other aftermarket pads are placed lower to provide leverage for your feet so you can jump the wheel. If you see some of my other Sherman videos you will see different pads on my Sherman and how they are placed. I was only demonstrating the placement of the stock pads in this video. I don't use the stock pads on my Sherman's and many other people don't either.

The tiltback and alarm settings seem to skip the speeds most riders would actually want. It jumps from 36.1mph to OFF (173.9mph). On a "50mph" wheel, I'd want to set tiltback to be something in like 45mph and an alarm in the around 40mph. Am I missing something?

With the speed alarm turned off (173.9 mph), the Sherman will now beep at 80% of motor output. So if on a full charge, that will be about 43-45 mph. As your battery gets lower, the beeps will self adjust to a lower and lower mph. As far as turning off the tiltback (173.9 mph), the tiltback stays off at all times. Hope this helps you.

If I remember, the ID that you'll see begins with "LK" followed by a number. For instance, mine is LK752. So look for something like that. If EUC World shows zero devices than there's a possibility that the Bluetooth module is not fully seated into the control board, or is bad. You can open the top panel and inspect the condition of the Bluetooth module. They can be replaced if necessary.

@WillofNewZealand

@@ElectricUnicycles i believe its possible but not done in some wheels. I believe firmware code should read. Accelerate until voltage drops then tilt back. Example the sherman set to tilt back at 58.2kph does not only tilt back at that speed but also tilts back at slower and slower speeds as voltage drops. As demo by wrong way proved. So wheel can be progrsmed to engauge tilt back based on voltage drop. So i believe i should be able to set tilt back speed to 190kph. Then speed up toward 190kph until voltage drops then be tilted back. I might get to 89kph before the voltage cant keep up then get tilted back. It can be programed based on voltage wrong way demo proved it does that. It does not have to be based on speed. Wrong ways demo proves it.

@@ElectricUnicycles my hope is to write my own then. Or find who does. I have z10 mod i can put in that enables it to carry rider to 58kph. Thats the same speed as an expensive sherman. I hear getting into sherman firmware might have been made dificult. Actual tested range is 153km. Maybe i should go back to looking at s20. It could be faster out of box. Firmware accessable. Range claimed 150km. Suspention. Is it the better wheel. Hum. I was about to buy sherman but im wavering now.

☝️Embarrassing as it is to say. My only two flats were from not checking my tire pressure when I first received my 2 wheels KS18S N Monster. I pinched the tubes after a few days/week of riding on low preasure. The bigger tires are difficult to tell if pressure is low just by squeezing them. The tires are pretty stiff on there own.
