Nissans sales in the US and in China are a disaster. Most of this is self inflicted plus their poor innovation on the EV front.
@fredhearty1762Ай бұрын
The combustion engine pie is shrinking globally -- China first, but everywhere in time. Toyota and Honda are strongmen that will push out weaker competitors, but all businesses that depend on combustion will fall like dominoes.

It doesn't look good but I hope they find a way out. I have a 2014 Pulsar that I bought still under warranty in 2016. It's a good car. If I were to trade it in now I'd wish I could get a later model of the same thing. Unfortunately passenger hatches are no longer in Nissan's Australian range. I'd probably have to go to the Koreans or Suzuki unless I wanted to experiment with a Chinese brand.

Nissan needs to get completely rid of the CVT garbage they've had for years, bring out a hybrid or two and get prices down under Honda and Toyota with a better warranty.

Nissan should throw a Hail Mary and warranty their transmission for 200kmi to boost consumer confidence in the brand; it worked for Hyundai/Kida. They won't be in business at this rate, so why not?

Bit of a shame that Nissan is struggling so badly with the failure to navigate the changes in the market. They genuinely made some great cars eg Pulsar and the sss version of the Pulsar, skyline silvia and etc. They had a really good thing going on with the leaf had they invested in better battery and software for it and pushed that as a "Premier" model.

Nissan isn't the only Japanese or legacy car company in trouble, but they may just be the first to fail, and who will save them, the Japanese Government (probably not), a Chinese car company (why?), which leaves who?
@comptegoogle511Ай бұрын
I think they could be absorbed by Toyota. Would make sens. Toyota have progrssively made is way to the upper middle class price and Lexus is for the rich class. So they need a brand label for the blue color part of the market. Both company are in Japan so for the proximity and the culture it would be a more feasable thing.

I'm surprised that Nissan managed to survive until present. I mean, who needs another freaking Renault? They lost their Japanese identity - contrary to Mazda, which restored it.

Japan interest RATE is 0,05% for "Selected Companies". Japanese Govn WILL ALWAYS bail them out as these are "elites" who have political " affiliation". Thus ... JAPAN WILL NOT and CANNOT increase interest RATES.

Although I believe you are correct, this is not without other major problems. While the Yen attracts no interest the currency devalues. As Annette in Porter Japan will start having increased costs and probably stagflation

@chefchaudard3580Ай бұрын
Renault is not struggling, at least no more than other car companies. Mitsubishi is part of the Alliance and has nothing to do with Nissan demise. Nissan broke up from Renault years ago : their strategy is not defined by Renault for years. It is their own fault. Without Renault, Nissan would have disappeared in the 1990s

nissan needs to decouple itself from Renault ASAP. If you are customer in Japan, to replace a hybrid battery pack in one of its SUVs costs 2-3x more than a comparable Toyota because the pack needs to be RE-imported from France. Mind you, the pack itself is largely built using components made in Japan. Nissan is 2nd tier car company, but Renault is a 3rd rate company with substandard engineering talent being propped up by Nissan, not the other way around.
