FIrst! Love his perspective since it highly different than what we are use to. He makes a great point that people need to be experience it and come to their conclusions and have a open communication. Not everyone should go fully electric. Politics should be taken out of it and no one should feel mandated.

Media needs to be more evenhanded in their coverage of EVs as well. For example they love to air stories about people trapped in Teslas due to dead batteries, but never mention the emergency door openers built into the cars.

I set up all the options and settings. For my wifes 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV. She would have been overwhelmed with the choices. She got to jump in and drive the vehicle. I got her over having any range anxiety, by reseting her trip odometer daily... so she could see her maximum range, and how many miles she was driving every day... The next thing is to not be afraid of using cabin temperature controls. Heated and cooled seats first. Then to use cabin climate settings. The fear to use AC, seeing the 10 to 15 mile drop in range, if you leave it on high for the whole trip. Once the cabin is cool, turn back the ac, or just use the fan with out ac. Till you need the ac again. Saves energy, if needed. She drive 60 to 90 miles a day. With 185 miles of range at 75 percent state of charge... And with a charge up every night while we sleep, she starts out every day full....

Great discussion with BJ here. I agree with his messaging 100%, in that you can't be constantly "preaching" about EVs and expect a positive reaction from everyone. I ended up (unexpectedly) buying a Kia EV6 in March of 22' as a result of "supply chain" issues and the (luckily) immediate availability of the EV6. I couldn't be happier with the choice to go pure EV for my needs, and my wife ended up with a Hyundai Tucson PHEV, in which a good 90% of her driving is done all electric. If asked about the experience, all's I do is explain the benefits of driving an EV, and that it's been 100% positive for us. PS: I live SE of Denver and wish I could have attended this event, but came down with a nasty cold that's kicked my backside.

E curious 😂, i went to Orlando this year and it was great. Fantastic place for the automakers to showcase their cars ⚡. The media is just ridiculous when it comes to Evs

We attended the San Francisco stop last year, which is really Alameda. Part of the driving course used the airfield, truly giving you a "full send" moment on your drive. We plan on going again this year.

Electric trains including diesel electric do so well. It makes so much sense that an electric powered car is so much better. The battery has been the issue and the motor has been waiting. How long have wind turbines been pumping wells on a ranch? How long has solar been heating pools? Why is a hydroelectric dam perfectly acceptable but using the power to propel a car not? How many houses don't have electricity? It's number two behind needing water service to have a home.

Like BJ says he's always been a "car guy", I always was too, but I was never hostile to EVs. I grew up in motorsports and going to classic car shows. A huge reason I love EVs is because gas cars are just so disappointing these days, and have been for at least a decade. There are good ones out there, usually those are $100k+ though. I never mention climate change when people ask if I love my car, I mostly go to, "I daily drive a 384hp awd car. It's quiet, nice, fun, takes me everywhere, day trips to the mountains and back without stopping to charge and I've done many comfortable road trips of 800 miles in a single day. No oils to change, and it costs ~$20 a month to charge at home. I love it." I also back that up by showing them the app with the Charge Stats tab.

Bring Electrify Expo to low adoption areas. Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. Those are the people who need to have their AhHa moments

It was a nice event. Wish the weather was a little cooler,it so hot. I would like to suggest more even distro of port-o-potties through out the event instead of at the ends.

Huntsville Alabama, the city of "Rocket Science". This is the place to sell and build EV's. Come to the city with the most engineers per capita in the USA.

I don't disagree with anything he said. I am saddened by the fact that saying driving an EV is a better choice for the environment, is something so many people couldn't care less about. Given the obvious climate change issues and damage, we are seeing from burning fossil fuels (assuming you believe that). That has been the most eye-opening aspect for me in my EV journey. I really did think that was an obvious winning message.

It's like selling wind farm equipment in windy cattle ranches in places like Texas and Oklahoma. A good salesperson would never talk about climate change. They talk about making money. Cows need food and water, which costs money. You don't need to feed and water a wind turbine.

I agree. I think continuing to try and sell EV’s as environmentally conscious is like trying to sell ice cream because it’s cold. It doesn’t work that well. He hit the nail on the head. We need to invest more in marketing EV’s to showcase that they’re technologically forward, fun to drive, and the simple maintenance.

What if looking old was from emissions from gas and diesel vehicles. And most of our health related problems, we're actually cause and diagnosed as vehicle smog. If facts were correlated to the problem. Maybe knowing we're making ourselves sick could help the guilt we should feel...

I like that my EV has reduced my carbon footprint, but I LOVE the way it drives. I grew up on muscle cars, but this has more muscle than anything I could have bought as a young man, and far better tech.

What about the immediate and harsh loss of value? Does this come up commonly, in person, as a reason to avoid going electric right now?

This is a great question and is definitely why folks suggest going after the competitive lease deals we see with EVs right now too. Any idea what you’d tell someone if they asked?

They did a horrible job advertising. I saw ads for it, but figured it was the same old boring line of people's EVs for us to look at. Wasn't gonna pay for that
