Agreed. And the reduced size of the centre media screen is very disappointing. The excuse about the adaptation to right-hand drive is hard to believe. Another down side to the UK spec is there is no leather/artificial leather seats. The European version does. The cloth seats looks and feels nowhere as premium, regardless of which model you choose. Can't think of any reason why someone might buy this other than a shortage of other electric cars like the MG4.

Make sure when you do a side by side comparison with the MG4 that you mention the towing capability. Only 500 kg on the MG, no point fitting a towbar for that, whereas a reasonable 900 kg on the Megane. Also 22 kw AC, a real bonus and doesn't come cheap. It means cheaper charging on fast charge AC outlets and faster charging at home if you have 3 phase. You get what you pay for.

Drove this a couple of weeks ago, very nice car but had a couple of quirks that I didn't like, ultimately losing out to the Kia Niro EV for me. First thing I didn't like was the 'creep', engaging drive caused the car to creep forwards at 6 MPH, something I assume is a hang over from inefficient auto boxes on ICE cars of yesterday. Second 'irritation' was the plethora of switches on the wheel and stalks (multiple) which I would get used to, but my wife driving occasionally would likely struggle to find on those occassions. A really well screwed together car though, very pleasant to drive but slightly more expensive than I expected.

the small centre display screen is a deal breaker for me, sorry. its strange that they can't adapt the bigger screen for the UK roads when they already have bigger portrait screens in the Clio etech. also not sure if you mentioned it but its worth noting that the big buzz around 'google automotive' isn't just the ability to use google maps as the default nav as you pointed out we can already do that with car play anyway. but the google maps that comes with the Etech is built into google automotive OS meaning its aware your driving an electric car and is aware of the cars current battery level. so can advise you on how far you can you drive and how much battery it will take much like the maps in Tesla. this is something google maps on CarPlay can not do. this is the killer feature google automative provides and why I was waiting for the etech megane the ability to have google maps on the digital cockpit as well as the main display is a nice touch too.

It's a beautiful looking car with a lovely interior. But that boot size is deceptive because it is not very wide, I think you'd struggle to get a big pushchair in there. That's because Renault has made this new family car narrower than the Clio, which is a supermini. You feel this in the back seat too. It will be a great car for lots of people, but if you need to transport kids in the back with a boot full of stuff, make sure it's big enough for you. And on the 0-60 time.......the claim of 7.5 seconds, car reviewers have actually clocked it as 6.9 sec (the same as a Mini Cooper S but with that lovely instant torque)😢......how typically French, downplaying it. I have been fortunate enough to drive this. One major item that has been misrepresentated... The MG4 long range is £4k cheaper true but it is NOT equal. The interior on the MG4 is hopeless.... and tiny in the rear... But worst still is the exterior fit & finish. Which is the worst quality that I have seen in all my life. The plastics are shockingly poor quality. I had a holding deposit on an MG4 Trophy in Orange £33k car... I withdrew! As for "financing" the Renault is the same monthly as the MG4. Great review, only don't agree with the comparison with the MG4. I have the Megane and my friend has a MG4, the MG4 is really cheaply made and the system work really clonky and aren't responsive.

The problem with the logo is the 2 lines and the size... My father had a Chamade and had a similar design and was smaller. It looked better. I had a 19 from the second phase, with the by then new logo with smooth design and I liked it even better. This design of the logo looks more old fashioned than classic. It is not ugly but I would rather have the previous version. Now, don't get me started on the fugly new Citröen logo they are rolling out now. Absolutely no presence.
@examinerian2 жыл бұрын
To anyone saying the MG4 is cheap because it's made China, well, so are, for example, all Polestars, BMW X3, iPhones (until the upcoming Indian factory gets going). None of those are cheap. You have a slightly.less racist point if you say they're not built as well, but they'll pass NCAP with a high score (e.g. Ora Cat at 5*) so even that's not true. Design - that's fairly international these days. Just say "I like the Renault more, and am happy to pay what they charge" - nothing wrong with that at all. An opinion about human-rights abuses on some countries should also be considered. Manufacturers are pricing the Euro market high deliberately, the MG4 is about right for current EVs, but there will be a day when prices of all EVs will drop simply because they are easier to build. On that day, anyone with a PCP rental on any vehicle had better have their Guaranteed Future Value set in stone, because dealers will not be able to shift 3yr-old hatches for £24k (there are already instances, e.g. VW Approved Used UP! at about £6.5k, but same age e-UP! at about £21k). They'll be finding value-dropping damage that only Superman could see, charging £££s per inch over mileage but giving nothing back if all you've done is pay a huge amount then only wash/polish it while it sits unmoving for 3 years at your house... Lots of people want EVs, especially company car drivers avoiding high BIK. Some components may be in short supply, and manufacturers know they are in a good place to make stacks from this classic supply/demand situation.

For it's spec, it's overpriced. Also style has been put before practicality. Tiny rear windscreen, massive step in rear boot floor when back seats are dropped and the boot opening itself looks tiny. Ok, if all you are going to do is grocery shopping, but for people who like to fit their bicycle in the boot, rather than bolt on a hitch or roofbars, it's a loser. The base models with 40kw are almost as expensive as the Ioniq 5 58kw. Renault have misjudged their prices for what's on offer. The car needs to be about £28-30k and the Zoe needs to be less expensive by a similar amount. Stylish, good efficiency, good towing capability, but impractical compared to opposition and overpriced. Bit disappointed with it due to the day to day impracticalities for someone who uses their car for other than simple people transportation.
@jackdunhill61512 жыл бұрын
As someone that's driven both, I would say people are wrong - this car does directly compete with the MG4 in size, overall spec, range, and more. It looks like an SUV but it is quite a small hatchback. The Megane feels slightly nicer to drive, the tech is pretty flawless, and it looks the part too, but in my opinion they've been completely undercut by MG. £4k between top spec MG4 and bottom spec Megane (which is not the spec to go for, IMO) is such a huge chunk that it feels unjustifiable. Take that price tag slightly down and Renault have a winner.

Having researched - Renault has better efficiency, Road noise, MMI interface, more space in boot since it's FWD and better interior quality feeling of luxury. The difference in top spec is about 8K that is large difference. If it was 5K it would be more competitive. I do prefer the Mégane E-Tech. Even though MG has made big stride in looks and feel.

I like the mg4 and it is a great bargain but this seems to be a better car all around. The fact that they made so much effort in reducing the size and weight of components will have huge advantages.
