It's a trade-off really. For me I just unplug it and put it in the spare pocket on my amp cover when I move my gear, then plug it back in when I unpack my board. I feel like the extra few seconds is totally worth not having to worry about pots and gears, but that's just preference. Not for everyone, but great if it's what you're looking for.

I have this pedal, I love the way it sounds but it does tend to wander around the stage a bit. I'm totally taping the cables down though like you mentioned, I think that will add some traction. Thanks!

I couldn't say; I don't know any RHCP stuff. I don't see why not though. Wahs are wahs for the most part.

Great video demo. How do you keep the EHX crying tone wah in place? MIne moves all over the place when I use it.

I've been using stiff Monster cables (Monster Rock is the model) with a thick rubber band wrapped around the whole thing. The rubber band holds the cables firmly into the jacks and the stiffness of the patch cables help keep the pedal straight. EHX just released a "cradle" for it (search EHX cradle) but I haven't tried it. You might want to check that out.

Invin Yea, I got one those "cradle" for the Crying Tone wah. It does help keep it in place, but it wears out the finish down to bare metal. So I recommend not using it at all. The front corners of my crying tone are damaged/worn to down to bare metal because of that cradle.

Great demo! Do you still have this EHX wah?

+R3mO ́Cila I do! No problems with it yet. Really love not having gears or pots to maintain. Not having it velcroed in place can be a nuisance, but the method I use is to place a heavy rubber band around the center (over right angle cables on either side to hold them in the pedal) and then a couple wraps of electrical tape over that. That keeps the cables from ever coming loose and gently keeps the pedal in position on the board.

recomended for Joe Satriani sounds?

I imagine you could get close if you have his base tone, but I'm not an expert on Satch tones. Have you checked out his signature wah? That'd probably be the ticket.

I don't guess you have a way of actually attaching it to your board? That's why it seems so worthless to me for a pedalboard. I move my entire setup at least twice a week and all my pedals go conveniently in a case that gets turned upside down and whatnot to make it fit for travel. :P

Wouldn't work for me, I guess. :P I don't have a wah-pedal on my board at the moment, but I run a stereo rig, with loads of cables, and removing a pedal isn't that easy in my board. :P If it works for you, then all the better, of course. :-) It's quite an ingenious pedal on itself, just not as practical as it should be. :P
