@@ampcruz2540 i have tried the mim series, they are really great! i actually pref the one i played to the american version which i played at the same store. the squire classic vibe to me was nowhere near the quality and so i think the mim is the best value for money. the guys at squire should really bring out a series with a nitro finish for a few quid more, i think it would be a huge success

Always an engaged pedal since it was first introduced. It doesn't matter if I'm playing my strat or Les Paul through ac10c, ac15hw or Marshall 1974x clone. It earned a place on my pedal board years ago

This pedal works great with every pedal i have. I would definitely recommend it to someone whos looking for a wide range of compatible overdrive sounds. It even sounds pretty good on the end of a daisy chain... But put it towards the front if ur using one

Picked one up recently, very versatile, true overdrive with amazing tone from harmonic chime to power chords. No breakup, just the smooth overdriven goodness! Great for anything from country to rock, but really shines one blues and other dynamic playing styles.

Looks like the SF knockers are well outnumber but it's understandable their upset because they thought $400 would get them a pretty exclusive tone and all of a sudden that sound is available to anyone, if people want to knock EHX that's up to then all their doing is trying to give players what they crave and to do it for the best price possible, I'm a fan and very happy with the 6 EHX pedals I own, great demo .
@michaeloconnor1399 жыл бұрын
I'm a year in of pretty hard use on this pedal and had no issues. Fingers crossed it stays that way because it really is a great pedal. Spent a measly $90 CDN on it and sounds stupid good through a plain old AC15. I would recommend for sure.

Just got one of these. Sounds awesome through my twin with relatively low gain. I boost it with an lpb-1 for some leads to fatten it up and add more gain. I also use the soul food into my big muff reissue and it adds an amazing edge to the muff sound and smooths it out to a creamy sustain. Love it!

You don't really hear what this pedal can do until the drive is at 12:00 or higher. Using it as a clean boost doesn't make much of a difference to my ears anyway. That said, it sounds awesome for playing AC/DC riffs when it's cranked all the way up.

I got the pedal and at first thought I loved it. I havemany dirt pedals. When I compare it to the others, this, and another klon klone I have, just have this flat EQ sterile sound. I probably is a better choice for playing at very high volume in a band performance setting, but at home you cannot play at the volumes needed to get a decent tone. This was returned as it was still in time but my other klone, which was much more costly, Im stuck with. I see now why many people have been negatively critical of the klon. Trust me, I am a tone freak. I did not get, nor will you, get the tones here, if playing at home. Compare it to even a tubescreamer, or any other pedal that is OD and it just sounds sterile, significantly so. I take no pleasure in writing this review, I just want to spare others of the disappointment I've experienced that I am sure others will.

some might called it digital or modelled. I would call it boring, not dimensional, not tube like sounding, like organic. Lifeless. SOOOOO many more interesting and better sounding pedals around. Rockett's versions for example. And non-Klon pedals galore - try an Anolgueman Prince of TOne and you'll never want to play this pedal.

Thanks for your viewpoint, I can see/hear what you explain. Certainly listening to You Tube videos the Soul Food doesn't exhibit much in the way of desirable tone especially through a tele -even with Shane's skillful playing.It must sound a lot better in the flesh.
@kyle84426 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest draw to the Klon and it's copies is that it is "flat" or "boring". "Transparent overdrive" is the term. If you like the tone and play between your amp and guitar but just want a light dirt or push to overdrive or even just a volume bump, this is the style pedal you want. If you want more distortion or need to boost the mids or color the sound with a new voice or gain then this is not for you.

I loved my Soul Food. Had it for about a year, but then it stopped working. First the battery power option failed and then the pedal failed completely. Terminal end: Happened at a gig (while powered by my Voodoo Pedal Power 2 power supply). I am beginning to mistrust EHX. On closer examination, internally this pedal seems quite second rate in terms of build quality. A further problem I am having now is a popping and hissing issue with my EHX Neo Clone Chorus pedal, when I use it through the effect loop in my Bassbreaker Blonde 15W amp. As far as the Soul Food pedal goes - a better option may be the Joyo Sweet Baby OD. I am past buying Uber Boutique pedals, so may give one a go.

In my HRD I use RT212 6L6GC-STR RCA-Style black-plate TAD PREMIUM Selected, and that really works well - also I have it biased less than hot and combine the Emi Legend with a C-Rex... And that really sings! I use my Bogner and Laneys for kicks, but the HRD is the real winner here. (I also mdded my mid control - that makes it possible to get a little closer to the Blackface sound). - But 6l6 and 2 12 speakers will get you close enough!
