Heh that almost makes me wonder how many you would need for it to activate from just being near it without building up an artificial charge first. In theory the human body does produce an extremely small variable electric field of it's own perhaps too small to detect though except maybe at almost point blank range as if you make it too sensitive stray RF noise and such is going to activate it.

Dear he is right. Relay have both side connected to circuit. Even a strate wire act like capacitor to some extend. This wire was twisted many time to increse circut area, strate wire have small surface area resulting small induce voltages.

This detector can only detect live AC wire from very short range. How would you design hidden copper wire detector which are around 1 to 2 inches hidden into thick concrete wall? Thanks.
