Did great mate, but could you please make sure you review what the backseat comfort is like in your other EV reviews (since I’ve seen that the backseat can sometimes be uncomfortable in some EVs). I’m a newbie to the EV world so that would’ve been perfect. Love your presenting style though, mate 👍🏻

Just bought one of these and compared with our Tesla S - the Mercedes is AWESOME! The Tesla feels like you're driving a bulldozer through a pile of granite. The Mercedes is fast, fun and the paddles help extend your range and control of the car. I also feel much safer in the Mercedes.

I happen to love the back of this car, not so keen on the front, much prefer the the GLB AMG 35's front or even the regular one over this. For everything else, this would be my choice. It's fast enough and silent, giving it a relaxing and calming characteristic. Since the batteries should be in the bottom of the car, lowering the centre of gravity, even though it's heavier, it should also prove sportier and more planted than the regular. Interior is awesome!

'Dauto' regen works a charm. Coasts until you come to a junction, speed limit reduction or car in front, in which case it gradually increases regen the closer you get. Very smart.

6:01:The math doesn't work.10-80% of 100 kw in 30 minutes is possible since the battery is around 60 kwh, but the Model Y has a 85kwh battery with 250kw DC charging capacity, and all sources quote about 25 min from 10 to 80. I'm not sure where he got the 36 minutes quote. Just in case I'm asked. The fastest DC charging happens between 10 and 80. But even then, the charging is not going to happen at the top of the rate. However, the size of the battery that is being charged is 70% of the total capacity (between 10 and 80). So the EQB has around 70%*60kwh to charge, which is 42 kwh. Charging 100kw in 30 minutes would techically get 50kwh (half of the hour, right?) but the rate is not sustained and there are losses. SO it's very possible in theory. Tesla charged only 70% of the 85kwh makes the total charging size around 60kwh. The thoretical charging capacity of 250kwh in 30 minutes is 125kwh, which is double of the needed capacity. Again, we are talking about a certain charging curve and some losses, but 36 minutes is way too long, considering the charging capacity. Now, maybe he got the number from a 100kw charger (also known as V2) but then why quote 250kw? It's true, at 100kw charger, the Model Y will take longer to charger than the EQB, simply because the Tesla has a bigger battery.

I test drove the Tesla before the Mercedes EQB. The Tesla road handing to me was more like a Chevy compared to the tight driving EQB. Tesla does have many more charging stations. So I picked up a Tesla adapter so I can charge at all Tesla charging stations. I’m getting up to 288 miles in the summer and about 210 in the winter months (Chicago) while operating the heater. The only drawback for EV vehicles, if any, is traveling long distances looking for charging stations. But, having the CC1/CC2 charging network and the Tesla charging network make traveling better. Be careful of the Tesla adapter you choose because there are a few adapters that won’t work. All in all, I highly recommend changing from gas to electric. The convenience of charging at home and not having to go to gas stations is a huge advantage. EV’s are the future and environmentally friendly. 😊

I really don’t get the whole range anxiety thing. 200 miles is basically over 3 hours of driving. Who’s driving 3 hours and not stopping for a bit? Unless you’re a travelling salesman 200 miles of range is going to be more than enough; if you need to stop for 20 mins to charge; stretch your legs; grab a coffee then that’s fine. I wanted a Tesla 3 but with a 3rd child on the way I am looking at 7 seats as you can’t fit 3 car seats in the back of most cars, plus company director means only really looking at electric. With those 2 requirements there’s not too much choice outside of the EQB

I have a model Y 7 seat on order following having a model 3 LR for the last year and I’ve been looking forward to get my hands on this Mercedes as a direct comparison since I’ll probably have a couple more “outs” before my Y is delivered. As someone who has owned BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Tesla, I was hoping for more of an unbiased review/comparison based on the title. I found that the video essentially came down to “I’m a Mercedes guy, so I would buy a Mercedes’ despite lack of range, tech, power, etc”. Of all the cars I’ve owned, the build quality between the 4 brands is negligible. Mercedes may have actually been the weakest and BMW the strongest (at least in the $60-100k range). I feel that whenever I buy cars in this range I really don’t know what I’m going to get. My Model 3 has been fine. Comparable to my Audi SQ5, but the speed, power, tech blows it out of the water. I’m really disappointed by the numbers on this Mercedes. 160 km per hour max? Limited range? I’m a Canadian business person and I need the extra range, even in moderate Vancouver. As long as Tesla continues to dominate in range and power, the others are going to feel like a down grade to me.

I agree with most of your comments .. I have a 2023 model Y and it is significantly better than the old models for build quality .. its on board computer is second to non, very responsive, however, customer service sucks !! .. I test drove EQB and I can tell it is a narrow vehicle (width wise) and Tesla Y is much wider inside .. Model Y paint chipping is still an issue that you can not avoid .. but the acceleration can not be matched by a much slower EQB .. last but not least .. EQB is not built on a fully electric platform unlike Tesla Y .. therefore Tesla Y is the way to go ..

And here is why I selected Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD: Lighter than EQB 350 4Matic, More powerful than EQB, Faster than EQB in 0-100kmh, higher top speed (217kmh), larger trunk and a frunk which EQB does not have, an uninterrupted bigger moonroof, higher DC charging speed, cheaper than EQB (acc. to the prices in my country). What EQB has is the Mercedes logo in front of it, which people usually value more than the car itself. Enjoy your ride.

The best thing about it - the towing capacity = 0!?! Thats a serious deal-breaker. Went for a test drive and really like the practicality of the car. But when I heard you can't equip it with a towbar, it went from top of the list, to bottom. Also the hood was "flopping"/"waving" in the wind at 110 km/h. Just outside the windscreen to the left ??? Love this man as a presenter, but for me the fetish with materials and design feel somewhat old fashioned, when the comparison between charging (speeds) is flawed and the range issue is just brushed away. Electroheads - to me - means to pivot towards the ⚡ capabilities and thoroughly educate soon-to-be electric car buyers what to prioritize. Range (efficiency), charging speed, safety, software (ota), self driving tech, above leather, metal, familiarity and the looks of the thing. Can't help but feel that you're 'sold' on Mercedes brand much more than (anyone really) cares to admit. To sum it up: Electroheads versus 'Cardesignfeels'.

You basically lose the bit of underfloor space where the extra seats are. So you only have a narrow strip of underfloor storage instead of a relatively large area in the 5-seater where you can lift the entire large trunk floor. All in all, it's only a 30 litres difference, because the underfloor area is quite shallow.

I like the little EQB. But you gotta be outside of your mind to think that it’s better than a Model Y lol. Better looking? Maybe, thought those black on black and white on black Model Y’s are very attractive in their own right. Apart from the Mercedes Benz badge, there’s not much else here. The build quality’s not even all that great. No “premium” car should be showing exterior colors on the doors.

I've got a EQB and love it. I don't like the look of the MY interior or exterior. Maybe I'd have bought a Y if the 7 seater were available for slightly better range and performance. But the Merc is fine in both departments, its not really an issue.

@@MyMednas My wife has a Model Y LR. And we did order ours with a 3rd row. Aesthetically, it is far from my favorite car. But functionally, there are very little downsides. It is not my cup of tea, but I do understand why they’re so popular. I do like the EQB, however, and I do think it looks better.

@@Soh90 in the UK you can't get 7 seater Y yet. If you could I probably would have got one for performance. I've got the 350 EQB, it's not slow, but the Tesla is way, way quicker. What I really want is a proper family size 7 seater, but the X (when on sale again) is too expensive for me 😪

Little bit upset with charging speed. It's should be at least 150kw

Charging curve is very flat, it actually beats many cars with 150kW or more peak rate. E.g. still pulling 32kW at 98%.

I love the car and was about to buy but you are not allowed to fit a tow bar, NOT EVEN an 80kg back rack bar. Big fail for an SUV like this. I was about to buy, so glad I did my research. For me, to be Tesla, only because of this 😒

Now that electric cars are changing the game, it's a good time to completely convert to metric. No longer will we need a mash-up system of measurement where we fill up with litres and drive for miles. In-car navigation systems can be set to either metric or imperial, why wait for your government to make the decision. How does it make sense to quote a cars power in horse-power and then juice up with kW instead? miles/kWh is just ludicrous. Just use km/kWh. Nobody is familiar with either yet so it won't create any confusion at all. ADAS allows automatic cruise control to keep you legal and avoid speed fines. Just do it.

Good review - have an EQC, the Auto Regen I find a bit scary, but not as scary as the Auto Park which seems to believe the best approach is ‘ramming speed’ and then slam on the anchors at the last moment - spare underpants required without a doubt 🤔

They should install a clutch pedal to operate the regen so you can more accurately control drag. Depressing it should release regen and allow coasting. Releasing the accelerator should just reduce power without braking as an option. Or just make it programmable so it will allow two-foot braking.
