Have had my EQC since may 21 and driven 25000 km. It is by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven (and I have driven a few...) and I have found that the 80 kW battery is enough in most conditions including Sweden winter, although I wish the infrastructure of fast chargers in northern Sweden were better. Believe this will change soon though.

Just a headsup: A new EQB 250 will be released, and can already now be ordrered. Due to a new type of engine, the EQB 250 has a range of 469 kilometers, about 50 more than the EQB 300 and EQB 350. Another very informative video Nick. I am not a fan of the EQB for two reasons firstly I detest the square look and secondly I totally disagree with 7 seaters whereby the back two seats are inches from the rear window. It is normally children who use these seats, I would never put or allow my grandchildren to sit in these seats because if anything hits the back of the car with any force your kids/grandkids are in serious danger of death. My favourite of the three is the EQA, I just found the EQC too chunky internally.

I have an EQA 250 & when I got it last August & charged it up fully the range was 266 miles but what Mercedes don't tell you is when you are in cold winter conditions that range can drop as much as 30-40 miles off your total so you have to take that into account but so far it has not been a big issue.
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, ooo very nice! Yes that’s right, it’s similar to everyone’s homes, in the winter cars will consume more electricity meaning the range will drop. But it’ll go back up again in the summer. Optimal temperature for Lithium-ion batteries is 23°C 🤓

3:45 According to the specs in the EQB pricelist, the boot of the 7-seater is actually 465L. The 495L is for the 5-seater. The extra 30L is underneath the floor, similar to what you show on the EQC. And at 4:45 you forget to mention that you can also recline those seats backwards a bit which increases comfort and headroom. No idea whether the EQA and EQC can do that.
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey ViperHD, ah don’t worry all of the specs I have quoted are on the UK eBrochures and are correct at the time of recording. Just checked the latest one and it’s still correct at 495L 🤓 No the backrest adjustment for the rear seats is just a feature of the EQB. It’s pretty handy! You can adjust it in a variety of angles and handily for each seat! 👍🏼
@viperhd702 жыл бұрын
@@npoleary Hi Nick. Thanks for the quick reply. Interesting that brochures from different countries mention different specs, while obviously all EQBs will have the same dimensions. Most reviews here in BE and NL also mention that you loose 30 liters of trunk space if you opt for the extra 3rd seating row. The pricelists here have several pages of detailed boot space (e.g. also the space when loaded up to the roof) diagrams for both the 5 and 7 seater, similar to p.48 on the UK brochure but also including volumes. I actually wished all manufacturers would provide such detailed specs.

Good review but when I want to find out charge times I cant use "quite a lot of time" or "no time at all". No reviewer seems to want to estimate charge times using a three pin connector. Its that bad?
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey Tabubil, Thank you! That's easy to work out, a 3-pin connector outputs 2.3kW, so take the battery size: EQA: 66.5kWh EQB: 66.5kWh EQC: 80kWh And divide it by 2.3kW for a rough estimate. EQA: 28.91 hrs EQB: 28.9 hrs EQC: 34.78 hrs 2.3kW is extremely slow and isn't recommend mainly because of this reason as if you're going to use the car everyday, it won't be suitable. Going for a wallbox or utilising public charging is your way to go if you want to use it daily (if you can). Hope that helps!
@phil_nicholls2 жыл бұрын
@@npoleary Unless you are actually emptying the battery just as you arrive home, a 3-pin 'granny charger' actually works well for many people. More realistically, many (most even?) people will drive less than 100 miles per day - which would take around 14 hrs to top back up to full. Get home at 6pm, leave the next day at 8am, and there's your full charge again! I only say this for a spot of balance, as this is exactly what we've been forced to do due to our leasing company's deal with a very inefficient charge point installer - we've had our EV (not a Merc) since November, and are still waiting for our charge point to be fitted. It hasn't been an issue, as my wife's daily commute is around 70 miles. Even if the car weren't topped back up to full, there'd still be plenty 'in the tank' for the next day's journeys. TL;DR Only if you're doing a lot of miles, and returning with a near empty battery would you have a problem using a 3-pin charger. Of course, there are other disadvantages, such as not being able to make use of cheap electricity tariffs, or excess solar production - so for the long term, a dedicated smart charging point is the way to go, but one can cope quite comfortably with a 'granny charger'. @Tabubil - you can basically expect to add around 7-8 miles of range per hour using a 3-pin charger. HTH

Picked up a brand new EQB300 a week ago. It lasted 160 miles...then the rear motor just gave up!!! Had to take it back to the dealership. Since you can´t tow the EQB it had to be transported on a flatbed truck. Unfortunately I had parked the EQB in front of my diesel car so I wasn´t able to get to work in time that day. The dealership offered me a rental car (smaller model than the EQB) but I will still recieve the monthly invoices and have to pay for a vehicle sitting in the workshop. Mercedes need to do something about their poor quality. Should have bought a Kia.

@@npoleary Speaking of Range. Do you know of a chart that show speed vs range of the EQ series? I would like to calculate at what speed is optimal on a long journey that include charging.
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey rgry, no sadly there isn’t a chart however a speed between 40mph & 60mph is best. If you want to cover a greater distance 50mph & 60mph are best for cruising although 50mph may feel quite slower especially if you have a long way to travel. 60mph is a good in between measure however speeds 70mph or higher will deplete the battery faster. Off the top of my head I can’t remember the legal speeds for towing for the UK but don’t recall it being 70mph anyway. Hope that helps!
@jackjoyce17442 жыл бұрын
@@rgry I know from towing a car from Germany to Jersey, our EQC got figures between 0.9 and 1.6 miles per kWh. What we did was estimate a useable range of 110 miles at 55mph or 90kmh (most countries in the EU only allow towing speeds of 80 kmh) so we would plan a charging stop every 90 or so miles so we had reserve in case it was broken. Overall it would be easier and quicker to continue to use diesel for towing but times are changing and we all have to do our part. Charging network here in Jersey is pretty much non existent but in France and Germany, the Ionity network is brilliant and expanding.

All feel a bit disappointing. The range is short of what is expected - by about 50 miles. And the charging speed for a premium priced car is way off. 100kW DC? In the real world of public charging faff and charge curves, you are easily in for 45 mins stops just for charging 10-80% which is only going to give you 175 miles max assuming you aren’t shooting up a motorway at full speed. Those two factors coupled together make these not serious for anything but local driving. For a premium brand pushing out premium product, the Merc tech team needs to up their game.

There is huge problem with Electric cars, i have tried several makes and the same problem with them all, to fit the batteries the raise the floor of the car so if you are sitting in the back in particular you knees are really raised up almost touching your face, and it's so uncomfortable they need to rethink about the way the fit the batteries. If I got one for nothing I would sell because we are not ready yet for electric power, one charger in my town and it's broken most of the time, the price is €15,000 more than a Diesel car, take my advice and don't buy one, I drive a Diesel Merc it takes ad blue so all that's coming out of the exhaust is vapor totally harmless to our world. This is just crazy if we all get these electric cars and plug them in, the national grid would not be able to cope, and to dispose of the battery's when they get old is a huge problem as well as they are highly toxic .......Don't buy one take my advice
