Creator of the Damocles here - The idea of the Linear launcher is based on the idea that takes the railguns initial output then further accelerates by the rocket - the multiple piston glitched magnets applying their force to the rockets rear (as there is a max number of magnets worth of distance before the magnets power is null - the piston glitch packing more magnets in that region The rail magnets help to keep the rocket on course but due to their angle, slightly adds more forward velocity to the rocket as if pushing on it from behind at an angle - Then the rocket stage conveys further acceleration, its short but powerful output increasing its 'barrel' velocity greatly - in theory if I added more rail magnets to the distance the raw jet cuts out, its power would be further increased Other railguns use the 2x1 block to convey maximum acceleration to the light piece giving it a longer range but the Damocles trades that in part for shorter range but potentially higher damage potential...as evidenced by the fact it punches through the blast wall so easily (in later tests I could get through six 2x1 block thick walls)

Was experimenting with magnet launcher (worked same way as your, just not as big) and it feels like those angled magnets only accelerate things to a certain speed. In other words no matter how long the rail gun is, it's exit velocity will be the same. Angle of the magnets does not affect the speed either. It's almost like the magnets are speed-based and not force-based as real ones would be.

@@AgentWest I think there is not a great amount of acceleration, but they do have a small effect (this can be tested by trying to repel at an angle) - any extra helps, but their other purpose is stabilising the round down the channel..I am thinking of trying to make a 'floating' barrel via upper and lower angled magnets to remove ground friction

Interesting. Was there a use for the manual rotation on the side magnets? Also, could you connect the side magnets to sensors so they start by facing the chamber and pulling, but then switch to facing the muzzle and pushing as the round reaches them?

@Random insanity Yeah, they do work well as guides, especially on larger projectiles. As for completely maglev cannon, things tend to get bouncy when on Trailmakes magnets. Try hover pads instead as they tend to be way more stable vertically. @Epsilon Rose Unfortunately there is nothing in TM that will rotate _that_ fast and not cause other issues. What can possibly be done though is a system similar to IRL maglev trains: magnets in attract-repel sequence that are switched (perhaps timer-based for TM? ) on/off as the cargo passes them, alternatively pulling and pushing the object.

I have an idea! Make a kind of catapult that flings a pod into the sky, which when in mid-air will transform into a glider that turns into a submarine. After that, go a bit down underwater to build momentum then jet straight back up into the air. Where you're in mid-air, transform into a plane and land somewhere. Transform into a cargo truck then go back to the position you were while being a catapult. After then, change back to your original form--The catapult....and start all over again!

Here how i thought the Floating Ring worked: When you press 1, it flips the outer ring so you can lift off the ground and reach your desired altitude or whenever your ready to land, from there you can switch the ring back to its default position so you can gain forward momentum. The inner ring just helps you steer.

A rail gun projectile needs a source of initial velocity. Without that the electromagnets would just fuse the projectile to the rail gun.
