Fantastic demo, super informative! I've been lucky to have played through the Brass Knuckle (as well as their 228 Pre, also terrific). I played in a couple of covers bands into a DRRI with humbuckers and single coils and this pedal provided amazing versatility. Superb range of tone and gain as Shawn brilliantly demonstrates. Looks fab as well!

Almost thought it said "moose knuckle" at first and I thought well that is very immature and laughed a bit(says a lot about my sense of humor I know) until I realized I was wrong! Anyway, the "Brass Knuckle" which is a reference to a fighting implement that you put on your knuckles to really hurt someone(NOT inappropriate at all), is a good sounding pedal! But Shawn makes all pedals sound great!

How does it Cope with HEAT from the Valves ? Can't see any Vents !?
@electronbrothers21554 ай бұрын
Good spotting there! After a great deal of torture testing, we decided the negligible difference in temp wasn’t worth having holes to let in the myriad fluids that can find their way to pedal boards at gigs. The case does a great job of sinking the heat away naturally and never gets more than mildly warm to the touch. A number of customers have gigged theirs regularly and have had no issues. I have accidentally left this thing on for days and it played like it just came out of the box - not that I recommend doing that 😂😂. Thanks for checking the demo out.

Shawn never thought of this but can the Tubes be hard towards my Rollan Jaz/Chorus Combo 77 Amp as far as stress to any of the circuits & all?? TY Brother, your Music-In-Law 🤘🎸🤠
@ShawnTubbs4 ай бұрын
No it will run just fine into the front of any amp. The only thing to be conscious of is how much signal or output you're sending. If you're hitting the front end of your amp with too much signal you'll hear it.

290 Volts ... can be a killer(ing) sound ;) I am not an expert, but it is hard to find a real tube overdrive pedal, that does not sound like a fuzz on full gain (and this pedal just doesn't sound like a fuzz at all). The sound remainds me a little bit the HiWatt sounds of David Gilmour... Thanks Shawn! Regards!

On one of my pedal boards I have a JOYO Bluejay with a Satone English Rose overdrive in front driving the 12ax7 in the Bluejay. $150 for the Bluejay and $30 for the English Rose. With the $200 you'd save doing that you can buy some nice steaks. I'd do an A/B blindfold challenge any day. There is absolutely no difference in sound.

Would have been an interesting pedal for me, but as the company obviously does not have a single retailer in Europe, importing it from Australia directly makes it much too expensive for me. (Shipping costs, customs duties, import sales tax, which means, an about 30 - 40% higher final price than the listed one.) Listed price is EUR 310,-, which would be ok, but the final price for me then would be EUR 450,- minimum or higher, and for the same money I already get a complete DSL20HR or a Tubemeister Deluxe 20 amp. Next thing, if the pedal causes troubles, servicing between Europe and Australia hardly will work and if, then it is connected with a lot of - once again - additional costs. A good product is one thing, but if the distribution network does not work (worldwide) equally professional, it hardly will become a success. If Sweetwater, Thomann or any other (bigger) seller offered it in Europe, no problem, then I had a qualified and responsible contact around, if any troubles occur, but as it is, the price and the risk is too high for me, although the sounds are good. But maybe I get an already used one somewhere here for less... ...somewhen....

It is not true high voltage. Go down the rabbit hole. Wall wart . 12ax7tubes run on 12 volts. Check that fact out. Beware of these claims.
@electronbrothers21554 ай бұрын
That’s sort of true, but not really. 12ax7 tubes can run at 12v using a cold plate design, but that’s not what the Brass Knuckle uses to power the tube plates. It uses a pretty common charge pump/boost converter circuit (go down that rabbit hole 🤪) to achieve a 290VDC supply, giving about 170ish VDC at the tube plates - just like an amp. The tube heaters do run on 12V, so you’re on the money there. We do our best not to make any false claims because there’s enough people doing that on the internet already… Hope that clears up any confusion. Thanks for checking the demo out.
