If it’s showing trunk open it may also be part of this latch since that’s what it showed when my latch broke

If you hear it unlock when you push the buttons but it simply won’t raise and lower, that’s the strut. If you close it and it doesn’t lock or make any sound and you can lift the door without it locked, it could be the latch

Why is it necessary to take terminal off battery if you are unplugging wire harness?

It’s a safety practice for any electrical repair- especially with the tail gate where it always has power even with the car off.

My rear door will open and close no problem. But the warning light saying the rear hatch is open comes on. It sounds like the lock clicks when the rear hatch shuts but clearly there is an issue. I think this is what’s preventing my remote start to work, it thinks my door is open when it really isn’t, or at least it seems like it shuts to me. Could you shed some light on this? If I change out the actuator, do you think it would solve the problem? Thank you!

My guess is it could be part of the latch assembly, but I’d hate to tell you to replace it and it not work

Does this replace the sensor that tells the computer that the door is latched shut?

I think it might because when the old one broke it would not latch and I believe it showed it was open

I think my shit is jammed! I stuck a screwdriver to manually unlatch it and it ain’t doing shit- I see moving mechanically in there but it’s acting stuck like chuck

Lift gate only opens 10% when activating via interior button, exterior button, or leg underneath. I’ve attempted to reset by opening and holding the button on the lift gate. However, all attempts have been unsuccessful thus far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Viewed the video, and tried the suggestions, but to no avail. There's ZERO response when pressing the button on the lift gate, either to set new level, or to lower all together.

It won’t hurt the strut to push the door down but If the latch is closed it will break it. It’s only plastic

Yes. When doing any electrical you can blow out fuses. Especially the latch that always has power to it so you can open it when the car is not on.

Hey Danny, how's the Denali going so far overall? Have you had any issues with AFM yet? We have a 2018 with the 10 speed and it has 23k miles. Although we don't have any issues now, my main concerns are the AFM and magnetic ride suspension going out eventually.

I made a video on strut replacement but put the old ones back in after the ones I was installing aftermarket were not working out (may have been side specific, but not labeled and not seeming good quality I sent them back). Factory ones can only be found where you need to disassemble the coil over. My tires are going bad from them, so I need to address it. I am very concerned about AFM and have been contemplating deleting it, which is a big task, removing the cylinder heads. I may do it soon, it’s just hard to have the main family vehicle down. Otherwise, you’ll see all the issues I’ve had in the playlist, or by just watching my video on everything wrong with my Yukon. It’s been minor stuff and I still do love it and think it’s a great, powerful, comfortable suv.

Good to see you still have your Denali. ❤ Mine, still is going strong 💪🏼. 96k miles now. Regular maintenance like oil change, cabin filter etc. Just toying around with it. 😂

I wanted to check for any updates on your Denali's overall reliability and since this is also our family vehicle, I'm debating weather it's worth keeping it for many more years and dealing with the potential future issues or trading it in now for a 2023 Lexus GX460. We love our Denali for its size, power and comfort but we're willing to trade that off for the reliability of the lexus.

Have yall tried the AFM delete module by Range Technology? you plug into the OBD II. I’ve been using that for years on my 17 suburban 5.3L. Works like a charm disabling AFM as far I can tell. I never see it display V4 mode on dash anymore at least. Definitely better throttle response as well. No lag/hesitation hitting the gas after under braking.
