Motroized liftgate jammed closed and won't open?? Let me show you how to get it open by manually accessing the liftgate latch. This will work on most 2014-2020 Yukon's, Tahoe's etc. The same basic principal will work for older ones also.

Did it reset after you opened it, or did you need your replace the latch?

It reset and has worked just fine until a few weeks ago. I just barely replaced it.

If you had the cover off in the first place, why would you drill a hole in it?

Great question. Due to the raised section in the cargo area I could not bend the cover far enough or remove it to get a screwdriver at the correct angle to open the latch. The only way was to drill a hole. I should have explained that better in the video.

Are you asking about the square piece on the latch? Once I had the screwdriver in I twisted/turned clockwise and it opened the latch

Check out the picture in the upper left corner at time stamp 1:25. If you can get that flat bladed screwdriver in that square section you should be able to turn it & open the lift gate. If the screwdriver is too small it won’t turn. Hopefully that helps. Best wishes
