I've got the Victor rat trap, and it works well. However, it wouldn't reset after the first rat, so I exchanged it for another (had a gut feeling to keep box and receipt) The exchanged one has also done it's job once, and did reset. Note that the 4 C cell batteries fit a bit awkwardly, and in both traps, I had to roll the batteries back and forth in their clips until I got good contact. It's possible that it was simply charging the capacitor, but it wasn't mentioned in the instructions

Personally, I prefer the good old fashioned snap traps.
@lkrause7411 жыл бұрын
I agree! These arent the mice you find in a pet store. These are wild, diseases carrying mice. If you do 'catch and release'...unless you take them to the middle of nowhere before releasing...theyll just get back INTO your home. If you kill it, it cant come back into your home. I prefer the traps that kill them either by shock or trapping them to where they cant move.
@aceext14 жыл бұрын
It all depends upon outside temperatures. Batteries will not last as long in very cold weather. The manufacturer does not provide information on exactly how many "zaps" you can expect per set of batteries. The unit will indicate when batteries are low, however.
@greengenie70635 жыл бұрын
They say 100 kills per set of batteries

There are different kinds of electronic mouse traps, but the prices range from your $18 to about $33. Traditional snap traps will work if you set them properly. As simplistic as they seem, they do have a sensitivity adjustment.

Rats don't make huge trips to find a house. Once they find food in the woods they'll stay there and make their homes there.
@lxt10111 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you wouldn't want to find any animal in your sandwich unless cooked and de-boned.

Good looking product though. Nicer than the crushed spine/head where they could suffer longer by not being killed effectively.

The little slot where you put the holding bar is cut at two levels. Just push the holding bar to one side or the other to adjust the sensitivity.

@aceext The main problem most people have with snap traps is they use the bait only on the trigger and only a minimal amount of material. The mouse is a greedy animal, coat it with enough peanut butter like a slice of toast and the mouse will move all around the trap pulling and tugging at the parts to try to grab every bit of the peanut butter. Coating under the trigger and the setting bar will have the mouse climb all over and tug it to their death, their greed is what will kill them.

Thanks! It's a rubber mouse.

No, they don't. If you free it very far away, it won't be able to travel such a long distance. Plus, when it finds food in the place you freed it (that's why the woods are recommended), it'll have no reason to come back.
@LeMoviesLBF11 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can, it's not a domestic animal. Lots of mice live on the woods and forests. It can handle itself.
@LeMoviesLBF11 жыл бұрын
Again, as I already said in other comments: if you free it in a place away from the city/vilage/whatever, like, a forest, the woods, the rat will stay there.

Unfortunately this device did not work for us. I costed 39 dollars and when we put it, the mouse ate ALL the bait and left unharmed. The best thing about it was that we were able to return it and get a full refund.
@DanaTheInsane9 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen, they work well if you follow the instructions and bait them properly. It seems they have the most problems if you overbait as it can short the plates out and cook the circuit. I'll find out tonight. If this fails I'll do snap traps, but I don't want to.
@LeMoviesLBF11 жыл бұрын
If the house is clean, the mice won't go there. The rest, you go read in the other comments.

@aceext We have the extended hammer, the wooden one with the yellow hammer that looks like cheese. for about two weeks now we have had them set according to the instructions, just like your video states, perpendicular to the wall with no results unless there are two mice trying to get the bait. You said there is a sensitivity setting. how does that work and do you have a video showing how to do this?

I just got one of the small Victors and so far it's working great. 5 kills. With snap traps, setting them is tricky, and the mice often steal the bait without setting them off. Glue traps have worked for me sometimes, and others they just avoid them. Tip up traps and box traps, sometimes work sometimes don't with very wary mice, that will not enter far enough into them to be caught. But this electronic trap, is easy for mice to enter, and as soon as they get close to the bait, ZAP. Ex-mouse.
@ProteusKemo8 жыл бұрын
+dkeith45 Hi. So when a mice gets zapped do you clean it out? and how?
@dkeith458 жыл бұрын
+Proteus Michael Kemo So far there's been nothing to clean. I just turn it off, open the top and dump the mouse out, then add one more drop of bait and turn it on again. And I'm still catching mice. At least one a day and sometimes two a day. I had a bad problem in my garage that I let get out of hand. BTW this is the bait I've been using: www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2660318&KPID=3623769&pla=pla_3623769

Isn't it better to just place cage traps? The rat gets stuck and you can free it somewhere far from your house. The little one lives and you get rid of it. Everyone wins.

One pitcher 1/2 filled with water One piece of construction paper with two cuts in the center so that it forms 4 triangular flaps Smear jelly on the very corners of them Secure Construction paper over mouth of pitcher Leave in a place where a mouse or rat can get to it Make sure pitcher won't tip.

Really? I bought the trap model advertised here, set it up as instructed and I zapped 5 mice within a week, including a huge one that was probably mothering all the other tiny ones it caught. And to my understanding it's SUPPOSED to buzz after you activate the switch, and the power light is supposed to flash for 2ish seconds to let you know that it is armed and ready. Maybe you just have the worst luck in the world and got a bunch of duds, or maybe it's the distribution center in your area.
@LeMoviesLBF11 жыл бұрын
That's your opinion, I think every living creature deserves a second chance. You can't really blame the rat for invading your house in search of food, it's not as if the little animal knew that means something bad for you, it is just hungry.

+sofi99 I have the exact same unit in this video (made by Victor) and in the past month it's caught 8 mice. I used Duracell Quantum batteries. They're kind of expensive (about 10 bux for a 4 pack @ Home Depot) but they get the job done. Also, the trap doesn't work if the bait is touching the plates.
@motec82224 жыл бұрын
lorilemonade i used cheap batteries from the 99 cents store and they killed the mouse. The only thing is the green light doesn’t flash when it gots a kill and I have to check manually to see if it caught a mouse.

Look, rats don't reproduce as fast as most people think. One thing few will consider is the fact that the rats have a lethal gene, so 1/4 of the rats that are born will die, always. And let me say: if all the rats vanished from the planet, we'd not have a nice future. I'll give you an example with a different animal: if we killed all the flies from the world we would all DIE. So, don't kill all the rats either. Just because you think they're pests, it doesn't mean we can live without them.

mouse traps... mouse glue...and all conventional mouse capture tools are inhumane! victor's electronic mouse trap is the most humane system, it only capture the mouse, zap it with electricity, toast the mouse into ash, let the mouse electrocuted until it is totally wasted..... that's the humane way!

current kills not voltage, thats why cops stun guns are 15-75,000 volts, but low current, just stuns you.... ok, so 4 AA batteries, yeah you can go through an upconverter coil system to get your 10,000 volts, but where is the current? as voltage goes up current goes down. all you are doing is, shocking the mouse, the mouse has no where to go and dies from again a slow suffering. not a quick zap.....electric death chairs for people run around 600 Volts but the current is around 1000 amps...uhm, you should up your amps not your voltage, this product will not work humanely, it does work, but not in a humane way.
@irasthewarrior9 жыл бұрын
If you have 2.000 amps at 10 volts it won't kill you. You have to have a combination of voltage and amps to kill you. Do some research first before speaking.
