In this Video, All types of capacitor codes - SMD Tantalum capacitor, SMD Aluminum Electrolytic capacitor, SMD Ceramic capacitor, EIA Standard SMD capacitor, Ceramic capacitor, Electrolytic capacitor codes Explained with Examples.
EIA Standard SMD capacitor code is marked with an alphabet letter that indicates significant digit value in picofarads, and the numerical number indicates its corresponding multiplier, By using the table shown in this video we can find out capacitance value.
SMD Ceramic capacitors are not marked, The color of the ceramic capacitor is helpful to identify its value,
Class-1 Ceramic capacitors are usually in white color, their values are below 1pf to some tens of picofarads,
Class-2 Ceramic capacitors are usually in light brown color, their values in the range between nanofarads to microfarads,
Class-3 Ceramic capacitors are usually in black or dark brown color, these are general purpose capacitors, Highly sensitive to temperature and high voltages.
SMD Aluminum Electrolytic capacitors are polarized, whose negative contact is marked on the case, The coding pattern is slightly different for different types of series, generally, their capacitance value is printed on their case and voltage rating is indicated with an alphabet letter.
SMD tantalum capacitors are polarized, their positive contact is marked on their surface, Two or three-digit coding scheme is used to represent their values just like resistor coding, the Voltage rating is labeled or indicated with an alphabet letter.
Ceramic capacitors are non-polarized and generally smaller in size, Two or three-digit code is printed on their surface just like resistor coding, Their capacitance value is in picofarads, To represent decimal point, the alphabet letter 'R' is used.
Their tolerance code is indicated with alphabet letters,
Their voltage rating is indicated with underline or alphabet letters.
Electrolytic capacitors are polarized, The stripe marking on its case indicates negative connection, Their capacitance values in microfarads and voltage ratings are directly printed on their case.

I’m very glad I live in such a time where all of this information is out there if you want to find it and there are kind souls like you taking time to explain everything for us who want to learn. I personally am not very good at teaching or instruction so I very much respect anyone who is. Thank you so much for the informative video! I am replacing a capacitor on my Nintendo switch and don’t necessarily need to know everything in the whole video but I might someday and I’m sure I will be back to your channel many times to expand my electronics knowledge. Hello!, really helpful information, something that my electricity classes, never mention at all 😢 Anyway, would you like to be my instructor calculator?, Because I have trouble identify this SMD capacitor. Here is its values: 47 10V VT I am struggling finding its value, I will be satisfied to know, since I can't similar SMD capacitors of this type

Im LOVING this channel! Unfortunately the soldering iron i have short circuited. I need to replace what looks like a fuse, in-line with a varistor. The "fuse" is burned and have no identification for it other than this very EXACT symbol [■~■]F1 i have seen nothing like it before and cant seem to find any information on datasheets of the varistor (10D471k) or data on pcb (926-LED-III) regarding these components. I need help im losing my mind without my soldering iron.. ive done days of research any help would be so greatful

You didnt explain the one at 7:39 and thats the one I need too read, except mine says 9MK instead of 87S. The rest I guess is 47mF and 16 volts. Im trying to read that capacitor because its damaged and I need to replace it. Its for the AC control module of my car.

Hi. I believe I have Class 2 SMD Ceramic Capacitor. It is 1.5mm x 0.5mm, but how do I find out the farad? Can I just replace with ceramic smd capacitor of similar size? Will farad differences matter?
