That is a life saving design for me because I'm disabled. I'd almost rather take a beating than to change my oil. It will put me in the bed for several days, so I definitely have to build one, somehow. Thank you so much for this design.

You could also you this to push oil back into a system by using compressed air on the vacuum pump side, for ex. filling and bleeding your brakes. excellent video.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but most oil filters are on the bottom of the car. This is still a solid useful tool. If someone has one of the Toyotas that has the oil filter on top, this is a solid game changer.
@electronicsNmore4 ай бұрын
You're not sucking the oil out of the oil filter you're sucking it out of the dipstick which goes to the bottom of the oil pan

I'm an Automotive Technican , on cars with drainbolt or not on Trans, Sometimes you have to open pan to clean & Replace trans filter, some cars may not have an aluminum oilpan, case Housing setups. Draining engine oil, depending on lifting, angles vs level & oil pan shape, some old cars have 2 drainplus.

I just got a plastic drink bottle and hooked up to a shopvac intake using the top cone from a soft drink bottle works fine

That can also work, unless the suction is too strong and implodes the bottle.

I'm going to ask a stupid question lol. Is it ok to do full oil changes on a vehicle like this? Os there any harm in Botond draining it through the drain valve? My driveway is pretty steep and I don't hav a flat place to work, so I end up taking my vehicles to valvoline. With a coupon that's about $55. I'm thinking I could save $25+ per oil change doing it this way and it's safe because I'm not lifting the vehicle at all.
@electronicsNmore4 жыл бұрын
Using this method you'll get "ALMOST" all the oil out if the engine oil is warm. Replacing 95-98% of the oil is fine, the small amount of old oil will mix with the new. Make sure you change the filter. Thanks for watching! Be sure to share the video.

2 years later, how did this hold up? Did the Walmart container last?

OK video, but seems like you built it way to small. Most people want to COMPLETLY empty whatever fluid and in cars) your chosen capacity is simply not enough. I am also curious as to how long in REAL time (NOT time lapsed, like you showed) it took to remove that oil.
@bassreaper77794 ай бұрын
I don't think his intentions for this particular vacuum chamber were to be able to drain the entire oil pan. He did say he could use it to remove a small amount of oil to add an additive. If you want to drain the entire oil pan I would suggest you make one out of a 5-gallon bucket, and use a Shop-Vac for the vacuum source. This one would be very useful to drain the oil out of a small engine like a lawn mower, or outboard.
@arontesfay25202 жыл бұрын
What is the danger of using this to extract gasoline?
@electronicsNmore2 жыл бұрын
Dangerous. The vacuum pump will have gas fumes all around it, and a spark from the motor can ignite the fumes.
@arontesfay25202 жыл бұрын
@@electronicsNmore Makes sense. So I guess use one of those manual vacuum pumps instead? I really don't need a deep vacuum. Just enough to suck out gasoline.

when inserting the hose down the dipstick tube how do you when hunting for the bottom of the pan that you are at the bottom and the hose has not curled back up and that you are not on the bottom
@electronicsNmore5 жыл бұрын
Make sure the natural curl of the PE tube is going DOWN. When you feel it stop, don't push further.
@ericmarsh54854 жыл бұрын
Also, you can get a pretty close estimate using your dipstick as a gauge for length, mark on the tubing, then go a bit further.

The best oil change is when you drain the oil from the drain plug! This is dumb to do oil change in this manner.
@electronicsNmore5 жыл бұрын
Good luck removing the drain bolt from an inboard boat. LOL You have a drain bolt for power steering? You prefer to remove the pan from your vehicle's transmission to drain some fluid? Please, think carefully before posting comments.
@jasoncox43925 жыл бұрын
This is false actually. I have drained my pan from the plug and then extracted up to 500ml more with an extractor on many different vehicles. Depends on the car and how level it is.

electronicsNmore Your creation is great👍🏻 but The way I change my motor oil, I do it with a fully warmed up motor, I open the drainpug & have filter out while draining, letting it drain completely & sometimes I put a 1/4 to 1/2 of new oil to Flush out old oil, My 94 Celica gt, 4 cylinder, Race motor, I have to begin mynmotor project, dealer gave me main bearigs but weren't tge right ones, I got to plastic gauge each & every vearing this time & use oil pressure gauge instead of the factory switch that doesn't light when oil pressure not safe due to loose main bearings, made in Japan. Getting New pistons again Forged, adding supercharger soon, looking around 500 HP , factory computer, power limited, automatic Transmission, Distributor, I definitely adding 4 coils, either reprogram factory computer or see if I can add a secondary computer for engine alone, main computer controls Transmission. This Celica is My Hobby😎 all wheel drive after.
