Sorin I will be 70 in two years and I got that same idea last winter.. (I needed something to do in the winter time it is to cold to go outside in the shop..) But it is hard to do it myself.. It is hard for me to remember and I find that I can not stay motivated.. so this would be good for you to do this.. It might help me get to where I understand it enough to light a fire to help me get further.. I have arduinos, raspberry pies, esp32s and a few other things.. So I am ready.. If you want to do this on air..

Hello there, my lenovo G50-45 laptop is also facing same problem. I have reset Bios battery but still my laptop not coming on. Also I would like to tell you Soren that there is sparking happening when I try to insert laptop battery between terminals of battery & laptop. Power supply is all good. You should have shown clearly how to bridge MOSFET. This are corona pandemic times. Your videos are welcome, to those who have solved their problems by watching your video. Carry on great work. Kindly let me know video for bridging MOSFET & what tools are needed. Thanks a lot from India 🇮🇳. 🙏🙏🙏

Ive done many laptop repairs while I was studying electronic engineering and man I can say for sure that the whole laptop industry should be sued. How can they get away since years with planned obsolescence and no one says anything about it? cheap HDMI ports, cheap charging ports, bad soldering, capacitors flying around in the laptop, horrible cooling, thats everything which could be fixed really easily but they want the laptop to fall apart within 2 years.

Pls follow up with the repair of the charging circuit and make a video on it!! I had the exact same problem where I bridget the mosfet to fix a dead laptop, as you did, and the notebook was on again but not charging. I changed also the charge IC after removing the bridge but nope, without bridge on the mosfet the notebook was dead again. So I'm really interested to know how you will fix it. Thanks in advance Sorin. ciao from Italy!

Hi Master Sorin, (HeHe.. it sounds so Japanese 😀😀)... We all learn while doing mistakes. Only when you accept your mistakes, you learn, and become great, and that's you. You are just awesome... Just a doubt.. you have shown us many times how to get back those 19v rail. But what if you have 19v is all over the board but still no 3.2v, 5v, 1.5v etc.. You said they come via a power management chip. A tutorial about that would be very helpful.. Thank you Master Sorin

super tare ideea cu focus by arduino :)).

With arduino to learn something, forget any silly notepads or anything like that, go through tutorials and so called sketches already in arduino software. Make sure that your first projects are dumb, literally dumb as there is some boring lot in the beginning, which you have to go through. Once you go through boring stupid stuff (it took me like 8 hrs coz it is really, really boriing), make your first project by pasting few bits of codes from ready sketches. Then you can start bigger things. My first useful project was RS232 monitoring tool - as I do some work on industrial PLC's serial standards 232 and 485 are used a lot in legacy stuff... Very useful this little thing is!

No matter what your opinion, you should always return a laptop to the state when new, so replace any faulty components instead of removing a Zener or shorting out a MOSFET. Also, using solder containing lead has been banned in Europe since 2006 and I would be severely desciplined at work if I used it for repairs.

What is the clear gel flux that you use in instances like this? I use your "home made" Rosin flux most of the time, but this clear flux you used here seems to be better for this type of job; I've looked but they all seem to be coloured rather than clear! Thanks. BTW., I've been watching your videos (all the way through, not 7 minutes! :-)) for the past three years; I think I've just about watched every one! Arduino is more fun (to me) when you can make something useful, and also something hard to make with just chips. Like a remote control receiver. I added a remote control volume and mute for my 1970s stereo. You can use nearly any old junk remote. Add an IR receiver and digital volume control chip.
