Avalon hashboard. Designed to dissipate +1000W of power and turn into heat. Best way to handle it would be high temperature torch. Yes it will still be hard to do with heatsinks removed (pcb is aluminum)

Tipp: I used a soldier gun from Weller once for welding a wire to a metal frame. Needed a lot of energy. And also used special Flux for Zinc/Copper aso. for making the connection. Another time I had solder wire with acid flux embedded inside the solder wire. Worked great. Device: Could be from a cryptocurrency miner rack.

Great job. It's all about heat energy when there is a lot of thermal mass. Reaching that point where the job holds the heat long enough to solder. Temperature means nothing without the right amount of heat energy.

6:56 - Put metal item on vice, heat with brener, butane torch, maybe to the point where its getting red, then place it on the board? 13:45 - I have seen some videos people soldering with vaseline, it allows even to solder wire to aluminum plate. 22:35 - Not only this but sometimes they try to get away by putting pressure on repair man. Thats the moment when diplomacy starts.

When you heat metal with a torch, it oxidates and makes it impossible to take solder and bond to the contacts on the PCB.

@@oilybrakes I didnt explained fully, I didnt mean to treat it only with butane torch. Put a lot of soldering paste (kalaphonia, cinol) and to wrap around soldering tin, then to start heating, when its melted place board on top of item, wait to cool and remove item from vice.

Project request: Ventilation Fan: Solder up 2-4 spare laptop fans to a USB connector. Install fans onto a cigar box that contains a cut to size carbon filter. Add vent holes in side opposite side. Better than USB power, show us how to wire the fans to your solder iron control. Make the fans automatically come on and off in sync with your iron. Use your hot glue to attach this on the far side of your desk!!! Or rig it up to your camera holder.

I bought some Stainless Steel Flux Soldering Paste HWY-800 off ebay $3. It actually worked to secure a wire on shiny metal bracket that regular flux would not. Seems strong hold but didn't try picking up 5 pounds with it. The label of this HWY is in another language, composition unknown but it came thru customs and mail. It looks like water so guessing that it's just boric acid (borax & water mixed) which is common silver flux. Sorin, having worked in assorted fumes, nothing major but regular I can tell you that all those damn "colds & flu" were warnings that I ignored. The lung irritants screw up protective lining of sinus and lungs, letting germs in. It heals but the scar tissue patches that look like brittle rosin flakes make lungs so they don't stretch when you get old. You'd be better off smoking regular cigs if you are going to huff rosin fumes. The sticky tar in the nose keeps the fumes & germs out of the lungs. Worse than emphysema, e-cig oil causes cotton lung very rapidly even in young people.

When it's heating the air yes. When you heat the air you cause the molecules to spread apart and become less dense. This does not work the same way with solids like the metal heat sink. This only happens in a fluid system (so gasses and liquids.) The heat will follow the path of least resistance to spread and the metal is more conductive. Since they are more aligned and closer knit the heat will spread out more evenly along the least resistant paths until it forces a phase change into liquid.
