I was looking for a screen to use in my arduino project that didn't look too bad as most tft screen out there's don't seem to display images how they actually look (or maybe it's just me). This is perfect. The only problem is that they don't have a mac version of the editor.

Hello Electronoobs I was very surprised to hear you want to use it for an automated escape room! That is actually one of my jobs. For our facility, we use PLC's (Click PLC's from automationdirect) and a software called AdvancedHMI (which is free) to communicate over IP to each other. If I remember correctly, our computers use ModbusTCP to get values from or set values to our PLC's, and the HMI software uses these values to make an output very similar to what you've done here. One thing is for sure - the direct HMI to arduino interface is much more responsive than what we have. Thanks for the intriguing video

Hey great video I have one suggestion and need as well. Can you make a video with 5 inch screen of nextion make used to build a sophisticated e bike dash board showing km/hr, trip meter, odometer, clock, timer, gear shift, tempreture, MP3 playback, unlocking the electric vehicle with pattern on the display. Great as usual ! .. use it with a nodeMCU .. get feedback from a light for example whether its on or off (because I still don't know how to do it!) show temperature of a room, and use it to turn the AC on/off.. add a dimmer with a slider.. and you name it ..

Great tutorial! I like these displays. I'd like to take this 10" display and substitute it for a standard 4" display on a NanoVNA. I'm a ham radio operator. The NanoVNA is a great tool but it's display sucks. It is way too small forguys needing strong glasses and not remotely visible in bright sunlight outside. Any suggestions on where to start? Looks fine, but I would rather use tablet with custom app and communicate over the network. Nowadays it's easy to make beautiful apps in technologies like flutter or web frameworks, and tablets have lots of performance for their price, especially if you buy used one.

While uplaoding videos/audios to the internal memory of the Nextion is limited due to memory size, using a sd card would be beneficial and according to the documentation possible. However I did not succeed playing audio from the SD card. Did you try to play videos from SD card?

I used your led slider example to send nextion button commands to arduino nano via serial, but it doesn't work. Any idea what it could be? I want to store the value "num" of a dual state key, in the arduino status variable. It is the slider value of the nextion in the variable ValueAdjustedTemp . Tutorial worked great until after adding the "n0.val=" output script to atmega2560, the Nextion screen freezes randomly. My Nextion code should be identical to the shown video code. I have to power cycle the Nextion then it works but only for a few seconds. Is this something you experienced?

After 0.08 seconds of looking, the Nextion and the Arduino must share a common ground. This is basic stuff that I just forgot about!!!

when it converts the video.mp4 what is it actually doing ? converting to some gif pic 0 through 100 or whatever format. i assume its ffmpeg under the hood & that's good, so whatever is optimal format for the given screen, do we have data for that choice or is there only one unoptimized hw decode & display pic choice

You have to create the fields, buttons etc. with the editor and then send data to the screen using serial. I believe you can change the green parameters of each item. Setting values, txt, color, image number etc..

What a shame that the video playback isn't smooth. I can live with a few dropped frames, so for example if it were to play that 25 fps video at 20 fps old something, but this is more like 2 to 3 fps, and that is with the video converted to the proper native resolution and bitrate for the display! Not to mention the fact that for a display at this price point, managing only 2 or 3 fps of properly downsampled video playback is just completely unacceptable to me, especially considering the fact that they obviously cheaped out to such an insane extent that the video playback could have easily been buttery smooth had they simply chosen to spend an additional $0.20 to $0.50 (20 to 50 dollar *cents*) on the CPU embedded on the Nixon HID Display assembly PCB. What a waste man, what a waste... such wasted potential hurts my soul.
