At 2:35 where it says "Manually push the bac of the screen to help disassemble the screen." You should take a hot air gun (or hair dryer) and blast that front edge with hot air for 1-2 minutes to losen the glue. At first I could not get this, then I realized it was glued, and the hot air trick (which I use for iPad screen repairs) worked. A pair of tweezers to apply the new double sided tape helps too. And Than you guys for including an extra of each piece of double sided tape.

Game changer here, they really should’ve included the hair dryer step in this video.

Wanna thank you so much for taking the time to make this comment 😘 Even after using the hot air trick I still feel like I've inflicted permanent strain to both of my thumbs and caused irretrievable harm to my patience 😂 Thank you!!

I wish you would use a single gasket intead of overlapping tape on the LCD. This would remove the bump. Also the top cover should have had been milled down around the VAT and LCD to allow for the LCD to sit just below the FEP.

Thank you once again Elegoo Customer Service. World class. Can we get some videos on disassembly of the z axis rails. Would really like to take it apart and clean and re grease unless it’s not covered by the warranty.

I am wondering if it is really necessary to undo all these wires. it looks to me like the screen can be taken out from the front, without doing all the other parts?
@nsmith36272 ай бұрын
YES, this idiot in the video is taking the whole thing apart. It's like taking a whole car apart just to change the headlights. My life became a hell following this video when it's all not needed. What the hell is he cutting? Is he an engineer?
@deformiertergolfball4847Ай бұрын
i had changed lcd´s before and all videos do this for some reason. in this case i just wanted to know if its also enough to take the front off. and yeah, as usual its enough :D
@nachot6592Ай бұрын
I did take the top off but didn't remove the wires; they are kept in place with flexible hooks at the top that removing them from that point is more than enough to take the cover off. It is easier to heat the screen and remove this way but I didn't need to rewire at all.
@Carlos.Silva6228 күн бұрын
You are sure. Just disconnect ONLY the LCD cable. Você está certo. Basta desconectar APENAS o cabo do LCD.

At time mark 1:28 whist removing the glue on the plugs, I knocked the aluminium heat sink of the board, can that be reattached using a silicon paste that would set, or a 2 part epoxy.

Now if there were only some LCD screens we could buy 😡

Can't we only detach the FPC wire on the LCD screen and attach the LCD panel? Are you concerned about alcohol getting into the residue of the double-sided tape when cleaning it?
@CzDarkLordCz19 күн бұрын
I just replaced mine today, that double sided tape is pain in the a**, bit crooked but somehow i did it. Thx for advice guys❤

Why is the tempered glass on the back of the lcd and not the top, would save the screen

What kind of tape did you use to fix the screen? Thanks.

I have the same question. It looks like the black tape used in electric repairs

As a tip for everyone, lot of the shit in this video is completely unnecessary, you dont have to unscrew every screw and unhook every cable, if you notice in the video the front panel comes off, and they conveinently put the lcd cable in the front, which means you dont need to get to the back like a lot of printers which would involve unhooking everything. I didnt even unhook the front touchscreen, i tilted the print back, and set the front panel in a comfortable position not putting any stress on the cable and simply unhooked the lcd cable and used my thumbs to pop the screen off from the thermal tape (Which it is strong, way stronger then anycubics lol) and popped the screen right out, it made replacing the screen super easy, since these screens are used for multiple saturns I may need to do a firmware update.

At kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2WshaB_idSAeK8 I see two white lines on the edge of the screen near the cable connection side, what is that? I accidentally pierced the protective film and melted plastic onto the screen. While cleaning the screen, I accidentally wiped off one of the lines. Does this affect the lifespan of the screen?
@nsmith36272 ай бұрын
The first part of this video is WRONG! DO NOT REMOVE ALL THE SCREWS as shown in the video. This will take the whole thing apart making it WAY more complicated to put back together. You just need to remove a few screws to take off the front touch screen, then take off the top LCD and cable. You don't need to cut any wires like he's doing in the video, your life will become a HELL for no reason putting it all back together!!!!!!

I'm petrified of damaging the unit further by removing the glue. The glue on the unit I'm trying to repair doesnt come off as easily as shown here.

It is aluminum. I pressed pretty hard and I'm a 6 foot 230lbs dude that has pretty high hand strength for my size. You won't bend the frame and the screen is already junk...

Jesus christ, what an atrocious design this is. Not very user friendly in my opinion. Also the tempered Glass is under the screen?? Why??? What's the point? How does that make any sense?
@martina53282 ай бұрын
The step at 2.24 is impossible on my Saturn 3 Ultra, as the connections go through the plastic tray under the glass. By the way, trying to use electrical tape as a gasket between the glass and the rest of the unit is just poor poor design. The resin tray itself is really really bad design, built to leak, and if it does, and pass the electrical tape, the LCD screen will break.
@deformiertergolfball4847Ай бұрын
i have to say that this damn glue on top of the screen is the most usless thing you invented. i got my old mars 2 pro, which has a proper screen protection and i got 2 of this saturn which died after 2 weeks of using, since resin went under this glue. i did not see it and the screen broke. this literally is a dumb choice of yours.
