The part I think people don't talk about enough is how she said "You don't have to accept us, you just have to take our money." She really gave that low-life one last chance to just let them shop and give them business all while being judged by his scornful little eyes. She just wanted the best for her people and didn't mind being looked down on while handing over her hard earned money. She may be ruthless but deep down there are hints of those moments when she is the nicest person willing to sacrifice for others.

The show wouldn't be as popular if they all actually looked like men in dresses. But in the time period it takes place in, the surgeries that trans people have available to them today weren't available. It's a bit of cognitive dissonance with the show in that we're supposed to see them as non-passing transwomen, as they would've been if they were trans in those times. Obviously, nowadays, these actresses would pass better and have access to hormones/surgeries that just weren't available in that time period.

She didn't just offer him money she also called him short and bald while doing it. And implied he only cares about money. I wonder what would have happened if they'd been diplomatic. @@crown9413 Just imagine being treated like that for something about you that's not a choice (being tall, short, white, black, your nationality to name a few) or even something that is, your religion for example (being a christian woman in Afghanistan would not be much fun I guess). Also try to imagine growing up like that being hated and rejected without a valid reason. I wouldn't be able to be diplomatic. And since we're imagining things, imagine he treated them like humans. You claim you're on the fence and maybe you wish to be but your comment "this guy already employed a gay man at the height of the aids epidemic" makes me wonder on so many levels.
