This video convinced me to finally buy the digitakt. I was tired of looking at my computer screen to jam. Also, I subscribed right after watching that!

Fascinating for me the computer is also the tedious part of music production. I hate having to use it. Perhaps because I am a systems engineer by trade and reminds me too much of work ;D

I bought one of these a couple months ago, and the learning curve was a little steep. Once I got the workflow and some of the tricks down, it was well worth it though. I even picked up a Model Samples. Regardless, I like working out of the computer too. Just noticed hooking up a keyboard makes this even better, and not to mention how he had the metronome going and just started played it out. That’s what I’m learning from this video. I appreciate this, It’s gonna help a lot.

You sir, are extremely talented. Came here to learn if the device can do chromatic playback and was treated with that knowledge plus more and then finished with an amazing track. Truly inspiring and taken away. Great job and keep up the work.

Much respect for all of your interesting and rich content synthesis videos. I was especially intrigued by your application of real percussive instruments sampled into the digitakt- thats what I really enjoyed so much and by that introduction to your creative methods led me to suss out all of your other presentations. Love, absolutely love your vocal composition here!😄 Keep going man!n!

I always enjoy your little diddy's. So I soon shall have my hand at the takt. Curious to start sampling all of the synth's I've recorded over the years. Get some of the 0-coast, and sub phatty reduced to single cycle waveforms and go from there. Can you play back the sample's w/ the polyphonic sequencing per track or would you have to re-sample a pattern with 4 separate copies playing in chords?

This is great! Is there anyway of playing a sample polyphonically on the Digitakt? I’ve got an order in for the OP-1, but loving the Elektron workflow I’m also looking into this one. Also I’m not sure if I’m ready to wait x amount of years for TE to get the OP-1s shipping again either :)

Is it possible to use keystep pro as a controller for both digitkt and model cycels while also using keyboard to play sounds from both typhon and mc101 ? Just want to have a keyboard that controls all my devices and play keys from poloyphonic mc 101 and crazy analog power of typhon

Great demo as always, certainly a great machine. i woudn't mind knowing if a sampling keyboard exists that offers these possibilities, as if they made a digitakt with a gooseneck mic and a 49 key keyboard, that would be very useful to create tones with your voice like this. you could go all out and even create the drums with your voice. i've done things like that on my roland spds

Hiya needing advice, can the Digitakt do samples automatically on octaves instead of being one tone per key?
@nefaco7 жыл бұрын
Nice one! Did you keep in mind which note you where singing when sampling? When you play it cromaticly does it track the right pitch? Like with the old sampling keyboard like the Casio sk-1 you had to sing a c for example to play the sample in tune...
@onceuponasynth7 жыл бұрын
Good question, I'm not sure which note it defaults to as the "C" trigger. Since here I wasn't playing any other instruments with it the absolute pitch didn't matter to me so much so I just tried to be consistent in pitch between samples so that they would match. I would guess that the sample defaults to be triggered as "C" but I'm not 100% sure.

Hi Thank you for the video ! Been long looking at the Digitakt but never found a way to integrate it in my setup so far. Could I use the Digitakt as sound engine with Novation SL61 MKIII (the latest one) in order to make of the mkiii a "standalone workstation" type setup ? I mean the Digitakt would be the engine and the SL would control multiple tracks through its keyboard and sequencers (each of its 8 parts would be assigned to a MIDI channel, assigned to one of the Digitakt's tracks).
@thekidzcantfathom5 жыл бұрын
I've been wanting to purchase the Keystep controller for a minute now but I also want to purchase an actual synth. I know I can use the Digitakt like a synth but it also takes up one of the 8 tracks :/... So I've been kinda torn on buying a synth or just buy a midi controller for Digitakt.

@Mannex177 жыл бұрын
when you loop the sample, I can still hear a sort of "clicking" as the section loops. does the digitakt have an option to fade the beginning and end of the loop to get rid of the audible clicking?

@monomakes6 жыл бұрын
He has a much smoother loop at about 5:56, then changes it to the clicky one. It's all about finding the right loop points.
@marcwav6 жыл бұрын
You can zoom in on the waveform to find the zero point and it shouldn't click. Fade would have been nice tho.
@ubiquitousreverser6 жыл бұрын
I would think adjusting the attack on the amp ADSR for a slower attack could do the trick, as it does on an actual synth, otherwise I'd just keep adjusting the sample start and stop points with it zoomed in until I matched it correctly.
@RabbitRabbitRabbit6 жыл бұрын
amazing work! was wondering if in this mode you could control with the keyboard other aspect like breath control, mod whell, pitch bend, etc ??
@vampolascott367 жыл бұрын
Hi! Is it possible get rid of the click in the looping Ooh?
@onceuponasynth7 жыл бұрын
Not automatically unfortunately (that I'm aware of). I wish it would snap to zero crossings automatically or at least do a bit of cross fading at loop points, but alas... You could just tweak the length and loop points by nudging them a bit until you get something reasonable. Hopefully they'll improve this in a future OS update.

Agreed. I immediately thought, oh cool it kind of adds a percussive element when it was used in a track itself, totally worked out imho
@yeorgemusic7 жыл бұрын
Really love it! PS. Does the kick/bass samples sound a bit flat on the Digitakt. They miss a certain depth. Or is it because the used samples? Some honest feedback on this please! :D
@onceuponasynth7 жыл бұрын
The sample I used was of an acoustic bass drum so it didn't quite have the most depth. The digitakt plays back sounds pretty transparently so if you load in a fat thick deep kick drum you should in theory get that sound back out of it. I haven't tried any deep kicks yet though.
@yeorgemusic7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick response, man. Appreciate it :) I had a feeling that the Octatrack plays the sample a bit "flat". The analog rytm has more beef/bass with the samples which is also sometimes unwanted. I'll probably just purchase a Digitakt to check out the sound. Looking forward to your next video! Do you have a Toraiz SP-16? If yes, how does it compare? I'm looking for the tool that allows me for the quickest way to load samples on a pad/in a project without having to name everything and load everything manually into the RAM. There's still room for improvement on the Digitakt.. What do you think?

Great video man! I've got an Octatrack MK1 so am having a tough time justifying getting a Digitakt because obviously functionally they cover a lot of the same ground... But damn the UI and general workflow for Digitakt looks so tempting... What are your thoughts regarding OT vs DT? Would there be any benefit having both? Cheers

Late response, but, You could use a chord as the base sample and move that but it wouldn’t be hugely flexible. Or you could use multiple tracks to create chords.

Great vid! BTW, this same principal (minus the onboard sampling... for that just use the STROM app) applies to the Analog Rytm. You can use single cycle (or multiple cycle to get more of a variable, analogy feel due to drift, etc) waves as sample. It's a pretty strong synth engine in the AR that I feel most people overlook.
