Hey, Ess here - thanks for having us! Something that I really wanted to talk about, but completely blanked on at the start of my presentation is how we worked collectively on the different machine types available in the Cycles. As we (or me in this case) use Max to prototype I made patches that were sent out to everyone at the office who wanted to try them out, and we together worked on refining those ideas and patches. For example the Chord engine was greatly improved by several people by together figuring out what chords to put in, how to handle the oscillator balancing (mixing between inversions) etc... It was a cool way of working as a team, and it shows in the product how much effort we all put into it.

Hey man, dope performance. I’m also obsessed with the machinedrum, would be super dope to see a mk3! Or just a cycles with performance mode (just being ever hopeful)

it's amazing to see Ess talking about his product like this. It feels like the equivalent of seeing roger linn demoing the mpc60, or wolfgang palm demoing the ppg wave. Ess didn't invent FM, but still, great mind.

That kick just sounds so perfect with that round body and transient. Quite dificult tedious to get that with digitone. And that drone Ess started out with had some very nice texture. I'm not much of a drone guy, but that one I really enjoyed.

Yo Mario’s fucking dope! ...and Ess is some kinda freak FM genius. I’m glad there seems to be some incredibly talented new guys coming through over the past few years in the demo department to back up the OG Cenk. It’s nice to see so many different styles being made with the products.

I bought one, and am very happy I did. 6 great sounding and flexible FM synths, with 6 powerful sequencers, nice delay and reverb effects, knob per function control of the sounds, in a compact ergonomic package. I have a lot of fun experimenting, and playing with it, on the couch, in the park, at the coffee shop, in the studio, just about anywhere. With a USB battery power pack, and a USB to barrel cable, I can play it out in the woods, or on a mountain top, if I want. My only disappointment, is that the velocity sensitive track pads, take a really hard poke, to get a sound out of them, and no matter how hard you hit them, you can't get max velocity. And would also like a global tempo option.

If the cycles is not gaing staged the proper way it runs into limiter distortion. It doesn't have much clean headroom. You can use it for sound design like ess here

This comment is just an insult. The pulsar is way more developed and sounds much better than this faulty piece of plastic. If you want to avoid faulty pads over and over and spend your money in shipping you shouldn't buy this thing. And if you do it - don't dare to compare it to pulsar - a product that has been developed for years. Great production quality and much more valuable than this. This faulty grey thing is just another recycled not protoyped machine from elektron.
@jibberish004 жыл бұрын
Synthorexia by Young Padawan I mean... I agree that the pulsar-23 out-classes the cycles on about every level imaginable but, it’s also wickedly expensive with extremely long wait lists. I would love to own a pulsar-23. There’s nothing else like it but, the cycles is a really cool little machine in its own right. I think it’s great that electron is putting out an entry level line. The FM concept is sweet and makes for a sharp, icy character. Theses performances showcase how work, understanding, and creativity can bring about some excellent music on theses little boxes. Loving the soma laboratory stuff doesn’t have to exclude one from appreciating something like this-they aren’t mutually exclusive.
@joahlnaik470116 күн бұрын
Pulsar is an over priced piece of distorted crap. Abstract piece of poo. Electron are fair with the price of the model cycles and it sounds better IMO
